@Neil Wiggs The Assyrian church is not in communion with any Eastern or Oriental Orthodox church body. They are interesting though, because their Christology is more like the Christology of the Antiochian school prior to the time of St. Cyril of Alexandria. There was a fierce rivalry between the two churches prior to the sad events at the Councils of Ephesus (the so-called Robber council) and the Councel of Chalcedon. That said, although they regard themselves as continuation of the Church of the East, neither Eastern nor Oriental Orthodox would consider them to be Orthodox because they Christology is nestorian-ish. Fascinating topic though.

Praise God! I am also an ex Muslim. If you will forgive me for unsolicited advice, definitely dig into the Church fathers. There is such a wealth of learning and wisdom to be had in their writings and their struggles. St. John of Damascus is certainly of interest to former Muslims like ourselves.
In any event, praise be to Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for bringing us both out of the darkness of error and into the light of truth!

It was the best time and memories of my lifetime. Those places are so holy and full of peace. St. Isaac pray for us.

The lord is full of mercy toward anyone who is willing to bring their true self into his glorious light and let it expose the inner darkness.
I started searching for this information that i just heard, 2 years ago. after having a vision of the narrow path being the inner journey that leads to the Christ in us(eternal life). Not the outwardly expression that leads to pride.

But never did I knew he was so remarkable and extraordinary. Thanks for an inspiring documentary. I will put this into notice for my friends in Facebook. It should be more known.

Always thought the same. I guess it’s because they sound so authentic as if coming straight from the heart. There are some great fathers whose writings clearly followed the rules of either Greek or Latin rethoric, and by doing that, or trying to convince someone, they lost some rawness and authenticity. In st. Isaac’s there isn’t a single word that is not necessary.

I love both churches and I find today from Saint Isaac words why I like both expressions of Faith so Thanks to Lord today being sick from arthritis I searched for any medicines on UA-cam but I found this video...I am looking all day long to understand it because of body pain but my soul Understood from the words of the Assyrian saint or fathers of early Church that both churches of west and east have to be divorced and divided before the second coming of Christ and reunited by Christ only...thanks to you brother in Faith and this video over the unknown Saint Isaac I am feeling better with my fever and pains...but Soul is receiving a lot of information by this bright soul of the East Church. God bless you Amen

There is the “Syriac Church” which is Monophysite, schismatic and heretical. There is also the Antiochian Patriarchate, which includes Syria, is Orthodox and to which St. Isaac belonged.
The adjective “Syriac” should not be used in this video nor in any other Orthodox material in referring to Orthodoxy; rather the adjective “Syrian” should be used. When referring to Orthodoxy in Syria.

    • @orthome6068
      @orthome6068 4 роки тому +9

@@palikariatl Stephanos, you are right that the Syriac Church is heretical. As a Antiochian Greek Orthodox from the Middle East, I can hopefully clarify things. Syriac is an ethnicity and language, not exclusive to the heretical syriac church. The canonical Orthodox Church of Antioch is Syriac in origin as well, and Syriac was the liturgical language and rite of the canonical church too. Ethnically, even though many canonical Orthodox refer to themselves as Arab, they are actually mostly Syriac in blood. It is not until the rise of Islam that there became a firm distinction (in the rite I mean, ofc the schism had already begun) between the Syriac speaking canonical church and the syriac heretical church. The canonical Syriac church (the Antiochian church) would incorporate more Greek elements and accept the Byzantine rite, whereas the Syriac heretical church would not. Although in the West St. Isaac is called St. Isaac the Syrian, in Arabic the name he is exclusively referred to as would be translated as "St. Isaac the Syriac." Same with St. Ephraim, who in Arabic is exclusively referred to as St. Ephraim the Syriac, not the Syrian. This is because they were both ethnically, linguistically, and culturally Syriac. And also the word Syrian in the Middle East is associated with the modern Arabized geopolitical nation, whereas Syriac is the ethnic group that spans from Lebanon to Iraq (where St. Isaac was from in modern day). There is also a church being built in my hometown, a canonical church, which will be named St. Isaac the Syriac. Anyways the point I am trying to make is that Syriac is not exclusive to the syriac heretical church, but is an ethnic group that is between both the canonical and heretical churches. There are also still some canonical Orthodox churches that use Syriac in the liturgy too. I personally love the Syriac language and would love to see it revived more as it is the language of many of our saints and of the apostles. Regardless of if we call him St. Isaac the Syriac or the Syrian, the important thing is that we have this great saint. God bless

Blessed is he who lives a vigilant life in this world!
I am still on the road, and so you praise me in vain; I have not yet come to the end of my path.
For his enemies are living, his path lies before him, and he does not know what might stand in his way; his path is not safe and he has not reached the time of security.
The labors of your commerce have not yet entered Harbor, and God has not yet cut off hope for him over whom you exalt yourself.
An abundance of these labors is the good formation of the mind, and this is made steadfast by humility and watchfulness.
Until we have attained true knowledge, which is the revelation of mysteries, we advance towards humility by means of trials. He who rests on his virtue without suffering tribulation has the door of pride open before him.
When he tarries in pride, the angel of Providence, who is near him and stirs in him care for righteousness, withdraws from him. When a man wrongs this angel and the angel departs from him, then the alien draws nigh to him, and from henceforth he has no care or whatever for righteousness.
Those who exalt themselves for their virtuous way of life, fall for the most part, into disgraceful lasciviousness. Those who exalt themselves for their knowledge and intellectual employment fall into blasphemy against the things of God or into the derangement of the mind.
Believe me, my brother, and give credence to my words: you are not sufficient to comprehend all the power of the demons, and your knowledge is not sufficient to withstand their artifices.
You will know that you are before them like an infant who knows not where to turn. All your knowledge will be in turmoil like that of a little child.
To whom be glory, and may he keep us near him and in converse with him! Amen
    Homily 57

    “An increasing silence within” 2:50.
When I start talking internally, God stops speaking to me, and lets me talk. Amazing that he observed the same in itself. I need to quiet my mind and listen for God’s voice.
