Mum, you did well with milking the goats. Helga and Olga are great names for the goats. Sure is a continuous amount of work morning and afternoon to get through all the chores. Awesome to see you all with big smiles at the end of a busy day. Love your videos, brings back memories to me. Have fun and enjoy each day and create those memories together. Xxx
The homesteading life is for everyone. The power of being and working with creation helps with over all health instantly. When you add healthy food, it's even better!!
Personally I’d love to see your dogs and cats. Many people simply don’t understand that these wonderful animals can have and love a productive life on the farm. Yurt looks great. Blessings to you all. ❤️😊
Another great video!! Love the country life myself ... love watching you guys in real live farm living ❤️🤗. Special kudos to the kids they are learning wonderful lessons and Mica and those goggles are the cutest! Y’all got some precious babies and beautiful animals. Hate that you lost some good milk but tomorrow is another day and opportunity! Great job y’all 🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
I really love this volg.. I like seeing everything yaw do. Kids helping n being kids you n Lacey working together brings me joy. The yurt is looking amazing. Much love sent from our family to yours 💖💖
Cities are extremely busy... I couldn't do it. I would lose my mind.. I dont live out in the boonies.. I rent a house but on a small lot.. cant have farm animals😫 But I get to look out my window and I dont see into someones house😆 walk outside a sit on the grass. Love the smell of fresh cut grass.. Have a good day 🌻🌻🌻
We had Nubians and an Alpine Nubian cross. Cha Cha, nubian/alpine cross, have just over a gallon to two gallons milk per day. I milked her before getting ready for school and in the evening before supper. Mom mixed molasses into their horse and mule feed. She also sewed a field of rye grass and kept alfalfa hay for them. They got special treatment. Hazel looks like Miracle Lady, a goat I had as a child. I become very attached to those loving little animals and miss and think of them often.
Always informative and entertaining. Your dogs, your call. I never understand why some people want to tell others how to live their lives, not to be confused with a good suggestion or even some constructive criticism, that is absolutely necessary for growth in life. God bless the Dickson family.
I don't get why folks would be upset with you about having farm dogs outside. You are loving and caring to all your animals and outside farm dogs are just that. It's fun watching you learn how to do things. You have a wonderful family.
Hook a piece of rope on the back leg of the milking stanchion. Loop it around one leg of the stanchion. Loop the other end on one of Hazel's back legs. She won't be so apt to kick the milking pale. Make sure you dry her utter off as soon as you wash her or she might get chapped teats. If she does, get a tin of "Bag Balm" and apply to there teats after milking. Strip her out before milking just two or three pulls on the utters before you milk into the pale just to make sure you get good clean milk. We milked dairy goats for many years. Our children grew up on it. Made lots of cheese.....was so good! We now raise meat goats...Kiko's.
Cats are great misers which is great because mice/rats like grain. Helps keep your supplies safe. Farmers are well known for having barn/shed cats for vermin control. Dutch uses his shepherds as guard dogs as well. Gabby has been a super help in their set up. Great for wild dogs, coyotes etc. Both cats and dogs originated as natural outside animals.
It's easier to set up a separate milking area, like a little shelter with the milking stand in it so you take the milking goat out of the herd to milk her. That way you won't have interference from the other goats, and everything will stay clean, and you will have shelter when it's raining, or snowing (if it does that there), etc.
Good job guys. Everything is looking great. For that milking goat, you can use 1/4 " rope to tie her back legs and avoid her kicking the milk bucket. Until she learns not to do it. There are many videos out there on how to do it, but I have seen Sarah from Living Traditions Homestead do that on a video. You kids are growing so fast. They are all adorable 😊 Keep up the good work God bless you
First time growing vegetables. I fed my Rattle Snake beans to my family for the first time tonight. It is a great feeling feeding my family with food that I grew in my soil with my own hands. Thanks for the inspiration!
🙋hi from Scotland hi Mike and lovley family I would love to live the life style you have living out in the country and by the way who deeds a gym when you can carry a milking station all over the place ,Lacie you are so strong go girl 😁 thank you for sharing this vidio your home looks so good with the cladding on it great to see all the chores the children help with and your wee boy s do funny he looks like he is the boss stay safe take care Anne Scott from Scotland
In the olden days early 1900s they used to take groups of city kids to the country and they would have picnics to show them how life is on a farm and how there is something better than life in the city I wish they did that now
You guys are doing great with the goats! They are fun. Just a note....I used to milk my kilos too. LoL. Nowadays I only have a few dairy goats. A tip an old timer friend told me....about your milk...strain it...right into a jar...in the sink..with ice water. The faster you chill it ...the better it tastes...and lasts.
Mike, go watch one of the videos of them milking on the Blue Cactus Dairy Goats UA-cam channel and you'll get some good ideas on how to set up your milking table to prevent the goats from kicking over the milk.
I grew up with farm dogs. They were all outside dogs. There purpose was to protect and guard the animals and us. I guess I didn't even know you had dogs. I've never heard them back. Must be very good dogs. Always chores on a homestead. God Bless
Really nice video Mike. Y'all seem to have a lot figured out. This makes sense and helps things work out better. Try tieing the back leggs on the goat so she can't kick the milk over. Have a wonderful weekend.
My opinion only but goats are looking so much better sense day u received them awesome job. Healthy clean looking and gaining weight. You guys rock tyvvvm for video
Mike give the carrots to the goats. They'll probably eat them. I 100% agree that having your own land is amazing. Where i live in Canada we are not aloud to get any animals for our property which rruly sucks. We are chicken eaters almost everyday. Would love to grow 300 of my own since thats all we eat. Lol... You guys should buy more chickens and get boxes that would keep the meat frozen and sell and ship them to people and start up a new business selling frozen chickens. With all that land you could make tones of money selling chickens and when the goats get older you can add that then. Would love to pay someone to grow some for me. I love your family and the amazing work ethic you teach your kids. You and your beautiful wife are absolutely amazing parents and i truly look up to you both and appreciate you all and all the awsome inspiring videos. Blessings to your family and i wish you all the best. See you next video like always
Hi Mike I really enjoy following you guys on the web and especially the way how everyone seems to be having a great time doing the work. Just a thought . ever thought of placing the chicken tractors on a sled type bottom for ease of moving around. i am sure it will moving those tractors a whole lot easier. Be good to yourselves.
Amen about what you said about living in the country. Unfortunately, the city is rapidly coming our way but we can still have farm animals where we live. You guys have a wonderful place. Continued good luck with all you ventures.
I see how you remain the fit farmer..wow..plus, now you speak goat..lol..the kids are doing a fine job..I agree with your take on the dogs. I had a house dog, whom I loved, but I believe animals are not necessarily created to be domesticated..to each his own..you're all doing a fabulous job..Lacy even talks to the animals..so fun..be safe you all and stay healthy..love your family.
Hi there new subbie here beautiful family. What I wish to is that I can afford to get some land and have a homestead. So peaceful. I’ve had one before with my ex husband. Wish to do it again one day god willing. I’m from south Louisiana but had to move to Houston Texas for better health care. I suffer from sarcoidosis. The Bernie Mac , Reggie white illness and it don’t have a cure and is painful. All I want is to move back to the country. I miss it so much. We don’t have the land we use to have. So I’d have to start all over again. I’m not gonna say it’s impossible but it seems that way with me being ill and living off Ssdi. Have a blessed weekend beautiful family 🙏🏽🌼💛🙏🏽🌼💛
Thanks for sharing, it does seem so peaceful where you are. I can't seem to shake this image of escape artist goats who want to eat your cloths or headbunt you all the time.
Are the chickens going for comfort when they lay their eggs? Perhaps the wooden place has more hay in it and is more comfortable for the ducks and the chickens.
Maybe you could use a deep, round bowl to collect the milk, and cut a hole in the stand to recess it so she can't knock it over. The farm is really growing, Mike!
You should look up how to make salted duck eggs, they taste amazing. They have many different recipes online. I've been trying to get my in laws to give me their recipe for it because theirs tastes different from the rest. But it is pretty much salt water and alcohol with a few other things added and let it set for a month
Goats are like kids. You always expect the unexpected. Maybe a hole in the plank with a funnel with a hose to go into a bucket away from legs. I know Lacey was upset but there hard headed. Just got to be on your game.
If you’re not going to set the milking stanchion in a centralized permanent space. Why don’t you mount some removable wheels and a handle to move it with the goats...
Mike I love my John Deere E100. Karen chores are fun to do and I was able to get a huge bundle sale from Home Depot for the dump trailer, tractor, leaf bagger and plow and just yesterday I picked up a dethatcher and aerator combo for it. Wouldn't do yard work without it have a great day and stay safe with the family
If the chickens don't end up eating the carrots, why not take them to the goats? Your children are adorable and well behaved. Stay happy, healthy and safe. God bless
Tie some ropes to the back legs of the milking stand then have a loophole to put on the back of the goats legs. I also watch Blue Cactus Dairy and she raises goats.

Cut a hole in the base of the milking station put your bucket underneath the hole and put a funnel into it and the goat cant kick it over. God bless!
Oh, Mike - you still have the heart of a bodybuilder ! Uh huh !

Carrots (your reject ones) are also good for goats. Remedy against worm. Ah, you are already doing it. :)
Micah is so adorable, just chilling on his tractor ride with daddy!
Nice video. Nice editing. Nice farm. Nice kids. Nice job.
Thank you very much!
Looks so good with the new siding !
Love you all
Love the Nubian! We raise Lamanchas.

They seem so busy but very content
They are so organized.
It's great to see the children growing, doing their chores, and learning so many things that even teenagers and adults do not know how to do.
I've never tried duck eggs.
A friend at work used to sell duck eggs and he would bring in cakes his wife would bake with duck eggs.
I just love when the kids are in the video especially micah he's so adorable
I don’t get to watch it enough. I don’t watch a lot of things, actually. But this is still my favorite vlog on the internet.
Thanks Dylan! We appreciate you!
Tie the goats leg down so he can’t kick the milk or “Milker”
Are the chickens going for comfort when they lay their eggs? Perhaps the wooden place has more hay in it and is more comfortable for the ducks and the chickens.
That Micah is one cool dude😎
The yurt looks good. It will help with heat and cold weather.
I love the goats ! :-) Micah is really getting into the swing of farming. So cute. I am so glad you have goats to enjoy and get milk from :-)
Build a shack outside and a gate so you wont have to keep going in and over the fence.
God has blessed you richly with strength
Loved the shot of Micah sitting in the lawn tractor, with his boots on the wrong feet
Your home looks beautiful!!!!
Lacy is the queen😁
Yurt looks amazing!
Goats love to climb on things tree stumps will work love how your connecting with them
Maybe you could use a deep, round bowl to collect the milk, and cut a hole in the stand to recess it so she can't knock it over. The farm is really growing, Mike!
Siding looks 😊
The yurt looks great with the siding and long ago as a kid I worked with horses I got shocked on my ear OUCH

I love that your vids come up at night, as it is such a treat these days to end my day watching love and happiness, vs......well...you know...
Have you thought about cutting a hole in the deck to fit a bucket in to keep it from getting knocked over?
The yurt looks amazing !!

Hey guys watch Lumna Acres hope. They have a milking station and you could see how they avoid the kicking.
Your yurt looks beautiful. Love your families attitude. Thank you so much for sharing
Those goats are so cute!
If the chickens don't end up eating the carrots, why not take them to the goats?
Your children are adorable and well behaved.
Stay happy, healthy and safe.

LOL. I was just thinking about world's strongest man, farm/homestead edition. Squats with milking stands would make for excellent tv.
Good 👍👍👍👌☺️
Tie some ropes to the back legs of the milking stand then have a loophole to put on the back of the goats legs. I also watch Blue Cactus Dairy and she raises goats.
Check out blue cactus🌵 dairy, thier milking 🐐 will definitely help keep you from wasting the milk 🥛
Hazel is looking better already, great job!

Mike you have the life and the wife. When I saw her muscle that stand over the fence I thought Mike you had best not get her mad she is tough.

It's ok haters are going to hate but what they don't know is that even a thumbs down is good for our channel because it all counts as interaction. lol
