As someone who enjoys classic rock in music all abound, it's amazing that I've never heard this song and after listening to both I think I like the cover a little better.
i learnt it by ear and transposed it down a semitone. i'm sure you can find free pdfs or a youtube tutorial somewhere. It's a pretty simply-constructed song.

Find a PDF and just play everything one piano key to the left of what the music says ! You might not need to transpose it, I assume you're did to fit his vocal range better.
