Very informative video....I learned so much about flintlock rifle shooting in this video. Now my desire for a flintlock rifle is even stronger. When the video got to the hunting section...I found myself watching the video like I watch those classic Christmas movies back when I was a kid in the early 70s.....leaning forward toward the screen, eyes wide open, mouth hanging open, and forgetting to breath. Such beauty in woods during winter....the snow just makes the woods seem more magical than at any time of the year. And when you used those dried oak leaves to show respect to the Roe deer and to the viewing audience by covering the bullet hole....I actually had tears roll down my cheeks....that moment just struck me so hard. Thank you for sharing the knowledge and the beauty.

Very excellent video. I just got a flintlock again, I hadn't shot one for 20 years and I forgot how much fun they can be. I found a Traditions Tennessee rifle in .50, which is more like the Jaeger rifle than anything else. It's short with the 24-inch barrel and the stock that goes to the bore. It's not in the same league as the Pedersoli but the lock time is very fast and that was with the flint that came with it and as far as I could tell, it was never fired when I got, just the flint was sparked a few times. I took it out and found that it is very accurate with 60 grains of FFFG Goex and a .490 patched roundball. I will be working up some more loads, patches, bullets to see if I can tune it even more.

This video is quite the contrast with a video i saw last week. It were some old, fat americans equipping their pack of dogs with gps trackers, letting them loose and waited in the car for them to stop moving. That would be the sign that the dogs had trapped a cougar in a tree. Once this happened they drove to the dogs and shot the Cougar out of the tree. The worst thing is that they called this "hunting".

Wonderful tutorial. Thank you. I am very, very new to flintlocks. Great lesson on managing the lock. However, I have a question about the triggers. I have three muzzleloaders, only one with set triggers. However, I must pull the set trigger before bringing the hammer to full cock. How about trying to craft all the parts yourself and putting them together ? :D i've done it with junk parts and some walnut for a stock, and used a door bolt to keep in the pressure, and to shoot it i use powerful firecrackers and a very short steel wood screw with a 8mm wide head. The barrel width is 9mm so the 'rifle' is definitely not accurate long range. It's more of a close quarters weapon and has about the same power of a .22 short or a .22 long rifle. Not if we look at our historical past and with the Sun going into the Solar Minimum again with less and lesser Sun-spots, I bet the coming Winters will get a bit colder, longer and snowier again. We can only hope that we won't have the cold and wet Climate, also known as the Little Ice-age, we had from the mid 1300 - mid 1700.
@@ATH_Berkshire - The how to you explain that England was still much warmer during the 13th/14th. Century and was actually growing Grapes and exporting WINE? They didn't do it during the Viking Age were it again was colder and wetter, they imported the stuff. And that is just one example. You just need to look at the "Famine" Stones in Europe and the dates carved into those to see a pattern of warmer and colder/wetter climes.

Never even held a gun in my life :) but i love this channel ! The hunting videos are amazing !
Fantastic video and a beautiful forest! What is the piano music playing at the end ?
Music from UA-cam audio library: Aakash Gandhi
Excellent video and it was a good hunting
Where would one acquire a Pedersoli Jäger in America?
Beautiful shot. Thank you, didn't think to use wax to water proof. Was going to try a "cows knee" for it
The cows knee is a beautiful and authentic solution, but you loose the chance for an instant shot.
Wonderful video. Thank you!
Fantastic. beautiful views, great instruction and honorable hunt. Well done
good shot but it looks like it was hit in the head no meat was wasted but wondering if he was aiming there or behind the shoulder ?
it was not a head hot. the bullet penetrated above the heart.
bad ass shot!!! I thought maybe i saw blood where it was hit but bad ass! congratulations!
I am another Hungarian (American) and I love my Pedersoli Jaeger Flintlock! I’d hunt with you anytime!
Excellent shot
Beautiful scenery!! What a great time, I would rather be in the woods even if I didn’t get a good shot!!
I would like to apologize to you for the rude and ill-informed comments left by some Americans. I promise you and other Europeans that we are not all like that. That was the finest video I have ever seen on flintlocks. Greetings from Florida USA.
Beautifully done.
well done video! and Thank you for your flintlock Hunting tips Happy hunting!
13:45-14:00 is hilarious. Good for you!
A nice pair of traditional wooden snowshoes will certainly help your efforts here; it sure works in Vermont.
Definetly!
How exactly do you unload a flintlock rifle without firing?
...same as a cap lock
Amazing hunt and thanks for the great info.
Thank for the share.
I want a flintlock so bad, but left handed ones aren't easy to find and to expensive when I do
Do you know in how many countries is that "last bite ritual" traditional? Czech and Slovak republic, Hungary as I see from your videos ...
I do not know how about Poland, Austria or other parts of an old monarchy nor Ukraine or Western countries..
Nice. Good hunt, man.
You made a great shot on that deer! Thanks for another awesome video.
Really beautiful hunting footage :) perfect shot aswell congratulations
Not if we look at our historical past and with the Sun going into the Solar Minimum again with less and lesser Sun-spots, I bet the coming Winters will get a bit colder, longer and snowier again.
We can only hope that we won't have the cold and wet Climate, also known as the Little Ice-age, we had from the mid 1300 - mid 1700.
Ummm, no.
@@TrueOpinion99 - Start looking into Weather History and you'll see that there is a Warming and Cooling Cycle
That may be true, but add the effects of far more CO2 and the climate will be warmer than it would otherwise be.
Thank you for your intelligent and well founded understanding of terrestrial climate variations. I've suffered abuse on this comment thread, read my other posts and replies, for stating this obvious historic fact.
I’ve been seriously considering going into competitive shooting
Nice shot!
