    Thanks for this. It would be great if it were in the NASM textbook because your explanation set better with me than studying the textbook for the NASM exam on this subject

    why is cable lat Pull-down initial phase concentric. isn't weight pulled down to the ground. same confusion around chin pull and squats( eccentric)

    • @gotahgemini6415
      @gotahgemini6415 5 років тому +3

      You should actually not look at the weights but the muscle. Your muscle is contracting, shortening when you pull on the handlebar. The weights are going UP.

    I have a very ergent question when you carry a heavy weight for a long time which type of contraction occurs pleases my test is tomorrow plz help

    • @jamesmorris857
      @jamesmorris857  7 років тому +1

      If the muscle is holding the object in a fixed position then it will be an isometric contraction.

    • @norametwally9904
      @norametwally9904 7 років тому +1

      James Morris so it wouldn't be eccentric because the muscle is lengthened and u know when u carry something heavy you keep trying to hold it up and fix it more in your hand

    • @jamesmorris857
      @jamesmorris857  7 років тому

      it would be eccentric as you lower it to the ground and concentric as you picked it up. As it's in a relatively fixed position whilst you carry it I would say it would be an isometric contraction.
