Jane is suffering for the art in this video. Getting up at 7 AND almost had to take a sip of Monster Energy? We salute you Jane!
That horror zoom-in cut to her face, with orchestral sting? Great touch, OXBOX guys.
Saluting a vampire seems disrespectful in some way…
Sometimes the price we pay for our Art is high... Maybe Too High.
you can tell its the same energy drink in both shots, she opens it up just enough to make it hiss in the first shot, then opens it the rest of the way in the second
Sadly, I do both of those things every Monday through Friday.
So in Jane’s world-view, the order of creepiness:
1) getting up before 7am
2) children
3) goalie mask wearing hockey-enthusiast, Jason Voorhees
To be fair, two of them are terrifying.
1) getting up before 7am
2) children
3) "Name Brand" Energy drinks
4) hockey enthusiast Jason Voorhees
And she’s valid for it
@@ptonpc Yeah I can deal with Jason Voorhees, but kids are another level entirely. And waking up before 7am? Well, just ask my employer how that is going...
Don't forget Coca-Cola flavoured Oreos!
Honestly, the golf entry should be number 3 on the list, so when Andy shouts "FORE" it would also be a segue to number four.
"Mmorpg" is how I'm going to say it from now on. Bless you, Jane!
that's actually the way Yahtzee has been pronouncing it for years.
Good to see it taking its rightful place in common parlance.
Caught me so off guard I snorted and restarted my nose bleed from this morning.
@@evanprince3875that blows dude, I had a similar reaction but from a different orifice, I choked on my drink, coughed like crazy, and ripped ass so loud that I swear my door shuddered.
@rikusschulze6249 one question. What is yatzee
Andy: "Golf is not an inherently wacky game."
Me: Yeah, it's an inherently WHACKY game 🤣
"Robert Knox was in the aquarium making crash test dummies and I saw one of the crash test dummies and the crash test dummy looked at me."
"Dummy looked at you? Get me Super Nintendo Chalmers."
@sambridgett "Thank you Sarah"
less a easter egg than a plot twist that is never made explicit, but Tunic, when you find out whats inside the obelisks
Jane's haunted look at waking at 7am was hilarious and relatable.
Jane pronouncing MMORPG as if is a word made me laugh harder than it should have.
Bullying Jane with that drink 😂
How so? Does she just absolutely hate energy drinks?
@@farakhhanif Jane doesn't do sodas or anything carbonated from what I've gathered. tea, juice, and sometimes liquor is what she apparently likes?
@ Okay. Thanks for sharing this information.
@@farakhhanif I don't know anyone that likes that white Monster. Yet they keep selling them so some freak must buy them.
Now the opposite: 7 Surprisingly Light Easter Eggs in Horror Games
There's actually plenty of these out there; this would be a great video
Princess Heart costume!
The ID tags in Alien: Isolation is actually the game's production crew, for one.
The fourth wall poking title drop in Evil Within 2 is really funny
How many of the entries could be taken up by Dog Endings, I wonder?
Baba Yaga? That's John Wick's nickname.
And who plays John Wick?
Keanu Reeves! Everything is right in the world.
Getting up at 7am?? Oh Jane, no! You're supposed to stay up until 7am, record the footage, _then_ go to bed. That's the proper way for us Darklings to handle early morning activities. Also.... 8:14 ~ That's a great future meme!
10:32 ~ It's a disguised Weeping Angel! Get the Doctor!!!
For me, it'll always be the burning orphan room in Mila's disco in Psychonauts.
My jaw DROPPED when I found that room.
Also kudos for your deep cuts, I’ve always loved your guys’ range. Including those golf games found in bars? Wow, what a good one.
I think the Saints Row one is someone getting dismembered by a lightsaber. The last sound is a distinct saber noise
It only took about 6 years, but Andy finally made Jane drink something awful after all those cocktails he endured.
Hey, those segments bought Andy a Hitman 2 easter egg, complete with original audio recorded. It was always a brilliant idea but that’s my favorite OXBoxTra (?) Hitman Easter Egg. Love how the team has several nods in that series.
@@jsloanhpi Didn't Jane drink some of the cocktails too?
Love this channel so much. Thank you for giving me something to laugh at in these ...... INSANE TIMES 🤟🏽
Never forget that the monster jumpscaring you in that Death Stranding easter egg is actually Hideo Kojima himself.
Nor the other jumpscare worthy easter eggs of finding out your BB's head has changed into Guillermo del Toro's character's head, or the fact that your BB can literally break out of it's little bubble thing and menacingly grimace at you.
The Guillermo del Toro head one scared the shit outta me because I looked away from a moment, heard some new noise, and looked back just as it burst out at me
getting up at 7am to record capture, salute to Jane for her hard work
To be fair to Jane, the white monster is the 2nd worst one, I wouldn't drink it either lol
6:11 There's a 7AM?!
Urban legend. Nobody's ever seen one.
I only see 7AM when I've seen a 6AM. And a 5AM. And... yeah.
Worse, there's people who think being awake at that time is _normal._
Not a horror jump scare but I will never forget when Milla's dark backstory is revealed in Psychonauts. Yikes. Poor kids.
In Red Dead Redemption 2 there's an easter egg relating to one of RDR1's most infamous characters. Though it does require a bit of time.
Basically, in the Bayou Nwa region of the game world, you're gonna want to look for a cabin called Bayall Edge. Inside you'll find it's filled to the brim with paintings, including one unfinished still on its easal, and a mirror in the corner. The paintings around the room will show animals relating to your current honor rating.
This is already creepy enough as is, but it gets even creepier if you come back to the cabin after some time has passed in-game, as the painting in the center of the room has started getting worked on.
Do this 3 more times total and you'll slowly come to realization that the painting is of the first RDR's most mysterious characters. With the final visit in the epilogue showing the complete painting, of The Man in the Tall Hat.
And for a final spook, take a peek in that mirror in the corner, and you'll see a certain somebody standing right behind you.
“My Time at Portia” and “My Time at Sandrock” both have a lot of dark lore hiding under the surface. While it is openly a post-apocalyptic game, its also incredibly cheery and upbeat so it’s easy to forget. But when you go ruin diving, you find old diaries of people who slowly starved to death in the apocalyptic event or obvious makeshift cemeteries in destroyed shopping malls. It’s jarring!
Not an Easter egg but the Dunwich Building in Fallout 3 had me far more shook than I'd like. Being stalked through the dark while a crackly radio says "Stand now at the precipice over and over. Shooketh i tell you
It's a great big Lovecraft reference, so no surprise there.
yeah, Dunwich borers and pickman's gallery too
In the course of one video, Jane has coined the words Witchering and Mamorpiga, both of which I will now be using extensively.
Great video as always, keep up the good work! Speaking of Baba Yaga, I was surprised by the scary bit she has in the Rise of the Tomb Raider DLC: The Temple of the Witch. The initial sequence as Lara goes into the valley and the visuals and audio start messing with your mind is really creepy, mostly because you as the player don't know how much is real. It's not, technically, an easter egg, but a spooky moment in an action-adventure.
It would be funny to use an Easter egg of Luke in the next part
Poor Jane. Drinking that entire Monster for the bit. Off screen of course.
Robin Williams actually had my favorite bit making fun of golf.
Andy, I’ve almost 100% my gamer score on Hitman 3, a series your channel (and passion) got me into in the first place. Safe to say I know most secrets. Yet I had no IDEA of these 2 tidbits, I love these unspoiled-to-me surprises! There’s a Helen West consequence after all, ha ha ha. And you’re freaking kidding, was that Miami randomness there the whole time????
Much like a nasty Kinder Surprise these are some dark Easter Eggs.
I read it as BYAGA, and hearing that it's 8 made me realize I guessed the pun before the actual handle.
Not sure if it's an "Easter Egg" but in Animal Crossing, if you wear the King Tut Mask, You have a chance to trip while running. That only happens when you are having an unlucky day. I thought it was really cool.
Crazy that outsidexbox has been making videos all this time, I remember watching these videos when I was like 15.
❤❤❤
You're going to have to say how old you are now to give your comment context (and for some of us, meaning).
@@neekfenwick nah im not doxing myself lol (Im in my 20s)
House Flipper with the ghost house or the murder house where the husband killed his wife. Also a hotel managing game in the same style where a party went wrong.
Nah the dead guy on the golf course is crazy dark.
I haven't been able to look at golf clubs the same way since Bioshock.
@@ThePurityControl i haven't been able to look at the world the same after bioshock
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 1999 has an easter egg which lets you "accidentally" blow up the range cart by pelting it with golf balls. There's no corpse or anything, but the size of the explosion implies the cart driver is 100% dead.
Here's one, In Final Fantasy 14 if you finish the optional dungeon Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard) there's a less then 1% chance at night for the ghost of the NPC the dungeons about to appear in one of the starting city's holding her fiancé's severed head
the real horror story here is them trying to get that footage for the commenter edition.
@@soulreapermagnumYeah I've been playing since 2014 and I've only seen three times
The saints row 3 house might be linked to the fact that that part of the town has been quarantined because of a zombie outbreak, so that might explain some of the screaming :-/
There's a haunted house in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3's Suburbia level. It was really jarring to perform a trick near the house in a happy sunny area and landing said trick in a dark creepy area.
Been a while, last saw y’all in the old studio, new one looks sweet though! Glad to see y’all are still a quality source of lore and laughs lol
The Death Stranding one genuinely got me REALLY good. Had only played the release version before, so as it was happening, I was just confused because I didn't remember it at all. Figured it was another Fragile scene though, maybe a dream/beach interaction with her somehow. About made an EX-2 grenade in real life once the messed up movements and it jumping out of the shower started. Think the last game to get me like that was probably SOMA when it came out.
I'm playing Returnal now. The first time I looked up in the Crimson Wastes fabricator room and seeing the Astronaut watching me nearly made me soil myself.
Those children are also arranged in a pentagram and when they’re in the home a voice also says creepy things like “you will die” and “your friends will abandon you” iirc. Seeing those kids is unintentionally funny to me because I first heard about it from a video from either PBG or SpaceHamster (forget which) where he had a gag about going to sleep, waking up, them not being there, going to sleep, waking up, them being there this time but just standing there and not walking like they’re supposed to Lmfao.
Infra is definitely not a horror game, but has two quite well hidden jumpscares. When I found the first one, I noped out spectacularly, that one was tense 😂
In Houseflipper, there's a bunch of creepy easter eggs, like hidden rooms with creepy paintings (I believe it was Saturn Devouring His Son by Francisco Goya), obvious murder scenes, and most explicitly, an entire haunted house that requires you to bury a body in the backyard.
Heck yeah to the Godzilla vs. Kong reference! \m/
I really love y'all's content!
there was a different ball next to the dead golfer, right?? the last bad golfer maybe killed him and not you... right?
I think y'all are having too much fun 😂😂 13:52
7:33 game devs recorded themselves taking massive shits after a night at Taco Bell
Why do I suddenly feel compelled to rewatch the Hallowstream playlists? (Just kidding, I was gonna do that anyway. ❤)
Ocarina of Time? A knight in an alleyway that gets missed by players going directly to the next part of the story shows the knight's last moments telling a seemingly random person a spoiler for what's next for the rest of Hyrule.
Did Jane ever get her sandwich back? Did she ate it with a refreshing Monster Energy?
The oreo flavored coca cola was much worse I can guarantee you 😂
I sure love me some 'Name Brand Energy Drink'.
Jane is marvelous
Before the ritual started, the children were standing in a pentagram
The darkest easter egg of all was Jane being forced to drink two full cans of white Monster. Presumably that's how she was able to be awake at 7am
5:08 hearing an englishwoman say "shire" like that feels wrong
You bring up the new Hitman trilogy, but not the Sapienza level with easter egg in the catacombs when you wear the plague doctor outfit? At least there was only one dummy and not a hoard of undead trying to grab you in Miami
Feeling called out over coke flavored oreos as I go through a pack while watching this.
Kids are definitely scary. Sure the example here might be a bit weird, or creepy, but I challenge you to wake up in the middle of the night to two shining orbs hovering inches from your face and not scream so loud they never go back to sleep. She slept, I didn't.
I was NOT ready for golden tee golf, that was a flashback
Regarding Death stranding, never played the game, but I have experienced few times the sleep paralysis, also more or less found the way to counter it, many weird "somebody is watching me" feelings since I was a child. I either have a brain tumor, or evil ghosts are there... if you did not experinece it, you have no idea how it feels
The Talos Principle's easter eggs imply a techno-apocalypse, where developers from our world have somehow gone either extinct or obsolete against virtual intelligence.
Outer Wilds isn't by and large a horror game, but the Elsinore Easter egg in Dark Bramble definitely fits with the creepy ambience of the planet.
Seeing my name suddenly on screen in big letters for the WoW segment was the dark easter egg in this video I wasn't expecting.
Best Easter Egg of this video: the way Jane pronounces MMORPG.
Im more concerned of the weeping angels in the Witcher series
Cyberpunk 2077 has so many disturbing bits. Some are actual missions and some are just locations and environmental storytelling. I'm pretty jaded to all the murder, dismemberment, and torture for entertainment, but Barely Illegal is pretty damned horrifying
I tried the Oreo flavoured Cola and it's disgusting
seeing Jane awake at 7am must be a bit like seeing Gizmo getting a midnight snack
7AM?? Oh no, Jane! That's the most scary time of the morning!
...would not have expected that from an arcade golf game, but I suppose the creators had to get their fun in somewhere. And yes, the world of Hitman should be so, so, SO haunted, I swear...
Never expected to hear a cartoon gun with a face tunelessly warbling the refrain of "Disturbia" by Rihanna.
It is, isn't it! I was trying to place that.
5:36 Is this ADR a correction for something, or is the change in audio specifically to make the subject matter seem even spookier?
Thanks for the context on the shower bit in Death Stranding. As it was my first Kojima game, I just figured it was par for the course.
Did not know about the dummy in Miami, thanks...
Jane not a fan of Monster?
Hmm, the lore deepens.
she's contractually obligated to only drink eldritch horror brand energy drinks.
@@soulreapermagnum ...Okay, I REALLY want to try one of those.
Thought this was referring to the Naoki Urasawa manga/anime.
@ Maybe? I have no idea what that is.
I hope there is a surprisingly dark easter egg at the end of this non-horror youtube video!
Jane, whoever wrote your line for the Cyberpunk intro missed a golden opportunity; "...technology can be used for *good,* like putting cool metal bits in your face. Or *evil,* like putting hot metal bits in _someone else's_ face."
Red Dead Redemption 2 has plenty of creepy easter eggs. Some that come to mind are the ghost train of Saint Denis and the Aberdeen pig farm for example.
The Cyberpunk 2077 mention has me thinking about the jumpers that you can occasionally hear screaming before they hit the ground.
7:05 It also sounds like someone is having a lightsaber duel in there. Force lightning torture?
"Are we still rolling?"
Yeah, Jane... Sorry...
6:16 brilliant 😂
The Saints Row screaming just sounds like an average day in the big city and they're usually drug addicts in withdrawl.
The fact Jane called it an emormpega is so funny.
So PT was just a prequel to death stranding and not a teaser for Silent Hills after all
I don't know if its bugged on current classic servers or they removed it at some point but the creepy goldshire kids actaully did summon a pentagram when they went upstairs.
Is no one going to mention Jane's murder room in Hitman?
Obsessed with Jane using "Witcher" like "Smurf"
Wait, no mention of who Johnny Silverhand's actor, Keanu Reeves, plays in a certain action movie series for the CP2077 bit?
For the WoW bit: where's the climax? The finale? The closure, dang it!?
9:33: An everyday occurrence for Geralt, of course, lass.
That's the thing with the Hitman games. There's a lot of silly weirdness, sure, but there's also the creepy weirdness, and that's even before 47 shows up.
Have you ever done a list for ways players creatively made challenges for games? Tears of the Kingdom had a lot of versatility for new and inventive ways to play the game, and the developers planned for some of the stuff players would do to make new games more interesting
If i had a nickel everytime andy outsidexbox talked about fictional people being killed via golf ball because they were inadvisably traipsing about on a golf course , i would have two nickels.
Which isnt a lot but it's weird that it happened twice
a marital aid as a baseball bat? call that a martial aid!
I'm surprised MGSV wasn't on this list. There are several points of the open world where you hear different sound effects from PT. Most notably the radio broadcast can be heard from an encampments radio and the swinging chandelier can be heard on the roof of a building.
2:52 Oh Ninji...
It’s not so much a World of Warcraft Easter Egg as it is a quest chain.. but I feel Abby Lewis, Mr Munchykins, Trunksy and Mayor Striggs deserve a place in a list of unsettling things.
