Buy yourself a plug kit. If you needed that flat tire, you could use pliers to pull out the nail and use the plug kit and then aired up with a compressor.
Great idea! We have since bought a tire repair kit to have now in addition to our spare! Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
I do not understand that people want to be outdoors and camping but leave trash behind and have no consideration for nature and other people. It simply does not go into my head!!
Biggest culprits are the homeless. Not recreational campers.
@@Itsa_Meawhere can homeless go??
@@angie-xy5sf where ever they want. It's America. The problem is when it's time for them to leave and they have no means of transporting or storing their items, they end up leaving it behind. I see it all the time on state lands.
We do not understand it either. We hope things will get better if we keep spreading awareness about the problem. Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Shion what happened with your job? The last video had me worried you might not be back. I kept looking for you guys!
Shion's current job has not given her an end date yet, so as of right now she still has the current job and is still actively looking for a replacement. Shion has found a remote part time job to help out too. Thanks for checking on us and thanks for watching as well! 😀 ~ Shion and Matthew
@@BrokenDreamsReborn Im glad i was genuinely worried about you guys and looking out for you!Glad my fav couple is back!
I highly suggest getting a Trailer Aid tire changing ramp (it's for tandem axle trailers like yours). Put it under the non-flat tire on that side. Of course, chock the other side for extra safety. This makes it much easier because you won't have to use a jack or your leveling jacks.
Thanks for sharing that tip with us! ~ Shion and Matthew
Glad the tire issue was not worse than it was, plus being on the passenger side was a definite blessing. We had planned to go to that spot you guys were at in Santa Fe a year ago, I'm glad now that we didn't. Anytime you have free camping near a large city you get these dirtbags that leave trash. Wander On- Kyle and Michelle
We were glad the tire was on the passenger side too. We wish people would stop trashing the land because it leads to them getting shut down. Thanks for watching y'all! ~ Shion and Matthew
I 2nd to get a good quality plug kit and a compressor. That tire could have easily been plugged and saved you a lot of bother. The other thing to maybe keep on hand is a jug of that green tire slime. I know it may not be recommended for road use but on a trailer, you probably wouldn't feel it. Happy trails and remember to keep the shiny side up!:)
Great idea! We have since bought a tire repair kit and we now have that in addition to our spare tire. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
Leaving piles of trash is happening in the cities too. It makes no sense, they drove out of there, they could have put some in each public garbage can they found along their travels; the dumpsters on public land, the gas stations, but stops, grocery stores, etc... there are so many public garbage cans/dumpsters. When I drove cross-country, if I stopped for any reason I looked around the vehicle to see what needed to go in the trash cans at the place I stopped.
We don't understand the mentality of leaving trash behind either. Hopefully if we keep spreading awareness, it will start to get better. Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Changing tires on the side of the road is so scary! Luckily in the 3 years we've been full-time we only had a flat on the truck. We were able to exit and change in a parking lot. ❤LauraD
It is very scary and we would prefer a HUGE parking lot to change a tire in too. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
Gorilla Glue makes a good construction adhesive that comes in a variety of sizes. You can always use finisihing nails not naliing them in all the way while it sets and then remove them, will leave small nail holes. I had the whole front facia on my slide detach.
Thanks for sharing all of that with us! Sorry you had to go through your front slide facia coming off! Thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
my d-max is10 years old. i staked all four in 2 years while driving on fresh cleared land on my daughters property i changed the lot from road tyres to a/t tires and now clocked 199.540klms and they are still traveling strong
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that with us! ~ Shion and Matthew
I have been trying to figure out how to wear our wireless microphones with a t-shirt. Never thought about using a lanyard. Great Idea. TPMS is a must. If we have a problem with a tire we have to call a Truck tire service. Our tires are truck tire size and way to big to have a spare. So right in tring to calm down and trust in God. Sometimes when we travel and Pearl gets stressed we will put on a Christian music station and this helps remind here and calms us.
That's awesome about the Christmas music! Shion loves Christmas music too! We also put our microphones on a shoe string. We have also heard of people using dental floss too! Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
It looks like someone sold you recapped tires. Some tire shops, aren't too honest. Google, what a recap & new tire looks like. You can tell, by looking at your tires. There is a marking on the tire.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Parks have gotten very expensive. Luckily I found a park with no amenities but all bills included for 575 a month
Yes they have. That is nice that you found a decent priced park for a month! 😀 Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
About 15 years ago I had my one and only flat on my trailer and was about 20 miles from home. After that experience I replaced all of the tires and added a second spare every since then when I am on the road I feel so much better. Something to think about. An added bonus is when I rotate the tires the front tire becomes the spare and the spare becomes the rear and so on.
Thanks for sharing that info with us! Where do you keep the second spare when towing? Thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
if you placed 2x4s around the lifting pole on the trailer , you wont need a jack, ? lower the other side for the wind blowing trucks and cars flying by and lift to get the tire off , first thing to do is loosen all the nuts with the tire in flat mod and lift , remove , install tighten the nuts and go on your merry way, commend sence
Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
i made 12"x12" wood pad for the changing of the tires, mine are 3 high with the center rotor out to fit the round lifting pads on the trailer lifting arm, rotor cutting down 1" down into the 2x4s stacked, i made them for all 5 lifting pads, 1- for each corner and 1 for the hitch lifting arm,. i dont like to buy something because it light weight and made of plastic and pay 135.oo for the pads,? sold at the trailer company shops, ! im old school crane operator, and it cost me maybe 25.00. there heavy but will out last the plastic ones.
The next time you buy tires put 14 or 16 fly tires on that’ll help a lot with your tire problems stay off the side of the road for all the junk as that so you don’t pick up screws and nails. I wish you well.
Thanks for sharing that tip with us and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
Not sure why you decided to put your bad tire inside the rig when you had an empty spare tire hangar. But am praising the Lord for protecting you during this mishap and the ensuing replacement.
Probably because hooking the hanger up on the wheel is a pain in the butt, and it’s easier to grab it when you get it repaired
We wanted to get off the interstate as quickly as possible and we knew we had to take it to the tire shop as soon as possible once we got to our destination. Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
It looks like your still using the very problematic "ST" trailer tires. Do yourselves a big favor and invest in 14 ply commercial "G" rated truck tires. We were losing ST trailers constantly, not mention damage caused when they blow. We made the investment and upgraded to Sailun S637 "G" series tires. Good year, Hercules and Cooper have also come out with similar 14 ply G rated trailer tires. For approx. $750 you get get a set of 4 Sailuns (online price), While you may not be able to avoid road hazards regardless of the tires used, the much thicker materials used greatly helps avoid punctures and blow outs. Additionally, the 14 ply commercial tires roll with less resistance and handle much better.
We have heard about the Hercules tires and have had some friends recently get some of those on their fifthwheel. Thanks for sharing that info with us and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
Prayers that some better luck comes your way! Thankful you caught that tire before it came apart. Love the orange vests. Safe travels, Hopefully we see you soon on the road.
Thank you again for the prayers! 🙏 We got the orange vests from Grand Design! 😀 We hope to see y'all soon too! Thanks for watching y 'all! ~ Shion and Matthew
Thankfully y’all got that fixed
We are too! Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Suggestion: When changing out tires, put your newest tire on the spare, and run the old spare on the axle to get some service life out of it before it expires. Enjoy your videos. Happy camping and Safe travels.
Thanks for sharing that tip with us and thanks for watching too! We really appreciate it! ~ Shion and Matthew
I'm so happy to see you guys and are still going. I am still praying that things work out for you both and you can continue to make great memories and videos. God Bless You Both, safe travels and will see you in the next video. 🙏❤️☮️

Thank you. Hey guys 👋😀,
Good job. Sounds like a good plan. Praise God. You folks have a great attitude of gratitude and I love that. Keep on trucking and I'll keep watching. 🌈
Hello! 😀 Thank you so much and thanks for watching too! We really appreciate it! ~ Shion and Matthew
Glad you didn't pull a slide out changing the tire this time! Glad you got the new tire!! That trash was ridiculous and agree it will get the place shut down!! Glad the glue worked!!
We were glad that we did not let the slide out either, lol 😂 That glue is pretty amazing! Thanks for watching y'all! ~ Shion and Matthew
You should carry tha t patch kit. Easier thing ever patch that tire if its new.
Great idea! We have since bought a tire plug kit to have in addition to our spare tire. Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
If your tires are wearing on both outside edges that means they are under inflated.
We always air the tires up to the proper specs. Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
@@BrokenDreamsReborn Not if the tires are wearing more on the outside edges.
You guys are so handy. Why don't you carry a patch kit for the tires?
After this latest incident, we discovered that we needed a tire patch kit and have now gotten one! 😀 Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Just had valve stem let go and TPMS saved my butt. Luckily was close to right turn lane off the 4 lane and passenger side. Carry jacks and tools so changed it in less time than I could have gotten roadside on phone. Have handled myself most times on past 5th wheels and now travel trailer. And I'm 79!
Glad you were in the right place at the right time and you had the right tools to take care of the job too! Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
Bummer about the tire. Glad you two are safe.
People that leave trash behind sick, and should be given one year clean up duty on a highway near them. At least three times a week for 3 hours.
We agree that there should be consequences for people who leave trash behind! Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
Bummer about the tire - but at least it didn't cause any damage... So as you replace these, are they the same brand or whatever you can find at the store? If the latter you are in good shape to do a long term comparison test :). ( always have to look at the bright side right ? ) Oh man, hate to see all that trash - really pisses me off. Unfortunately that seems to be the trend anytime you are striking distance from a larger city - lots of homeless and they don't view this kind of thing the same way we do :(. I wonder if maybe someone will step up and organize a big cleanup of the area ? I know some folks do that in parts of California where it gets real bad. We would be up for that but we won't be in that area again for at least a year I think. Great video we always enjoy your content - safe travels and no more flats!
We get the same tires. If the store does not have them, then we order them and have them shipped to store but we have only had to order 1 tire before because we were in a small town. We get so mad about people trashing the area too! We would be for a cleanup project if we were in the area, that would be a great idea! Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Kept thinking the last time you had a flat and was letting the drivers side slide out. Where you were this time the eighteen wheeler that couldn't get over would of carried that slide down the road with him. Seems since you can't see that slide going out on the other side they would had put a caution sign there. Thanks for sharing the video with me I loved it !
We were so glad we had that experience under our belt before this happened on the interstate! That could have been a disaster! 😱 Thanks so much for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
One of my nightmares , blow out on the highway 😢
Us too! Not fun at all! The best advice we can give is to try to be as prepared as you can. Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Just a suggestion, when you get new tires have them balance them. When we brought our rig home the first time, my husband took each tire off and brought to our local auto repair and he had to add weights to every rim. One of them had 5 weights cuz it was off so bad. The auto repair guy was surprised, he had never had someone ask to balance trailer tires. It helps with even wear on the tires. So sorry you had another tire go bad.
Thanks for sharing that tip with us and thanks for watching too! 😀 Thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
When we bought our 8yo rig we bought 5 new tires for it & the dealer said they’d be balanced. I was surprised that trailer tires are balanced by some other places. It’s stupid not to balance them!
Life's ups and downs reminds us to keep the faith. ✌️❤️
So true! Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
1 wash the window 2 make sure it's not hot just room temperature, turn A/C on if you need to. 3 wet a paper towel just wet wipe suction cup then install on window, turn tightener let sit 1 minute before driving it will stay on.if window is to hot it will fall in about 5 miles or hit to many bumps, and it won't stick on dirty window. And don't lock the suction cup. Try it and good luck.
Thanks for sharing those tips with us and thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
We had 2 tires blow at once and rip all the way through the floor, up into the cabinets. It split our biggest pot in half.
Oh wow! That is horrible! 😱 We are so sorry y'all had to experience that! Were you able to get everything fixed? Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
Need put newest tires on same axel. Always replace an axel. Get it things changing you all but put both tires new same axel.

Buy a plug kit from Harbour Freight. I carry that and an air compressor. It could get you out of jam . Miss you guys . Travel Safe .

So sorry you had another flat! But thank the good Lord it was not a shrapnel rubber blowout all over! When we start heading to BullHead city this fall I’ll find some of the nice rv parks y’all visited. And when when we can register for the GD rally.
We hope y'all are able to stay in some of these RV parks in New Mexico. They have been really nice! We think you can register in August for the GD rally! Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew

We blew two tires in as many days. Bought 5 new upgraded tires on that trip.
Oh no! We are sorry that happened to y'all! We recently had a friend that had 2 blowouts and wound up buying 5 new tires as well. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
is the weather too hot you may be traveling to fast if the road is to hot. i remember traveling with an over load years ago when the tire on the trailer just melted but that is not rule out the trouble with nails and it would help if you carried plugs , i have also in an emergency used three plugs to make an emergency repair
Since this happened again we have since got a tire plug kit to have with us. Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
You guys are having a rough time. Still praying though.
Thank you so much for the prayers! We really appreciate them! 🙏 Thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
Are they the original "china pops" that came on the camper? If so, that's what happens when you don't switch to regular truck tires.
Yeah, I call those china bombs.
No. We had Goodyear Endurance tires on the RV from day 1 and we replace the tires with Goodyear Endurance tires too. Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Lesson number 1 if 1 goes they all go
We had a friend who was recently on a trip and lost 2 tires within a few minutes of each other and just decided right then and there to buy 5 new tires! Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Oh no! We had a try that we had three blowouts. I am sorry guys! --Jen
Oh no! That would be horrible. 😱 We had a friend just recently that had 2 tires blow out within 10 miles of each other and he only had 1 spare, so he had to call roadside assistance and just ordered 5 new tires on the spot and they brought the tires to him. He said he did not want to take any more chances with the tires that were on there. Did y'all have more than 1 spare or did you have to call roadside assistance? Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
The amount of nails and screws on the roads is incredible lately.;(
Yep! We are starting to notice them more and more. Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew
Glad you made it safely.

Matthew during my many years of pulling trailers fifth wheels I have found that it is much easier to use a curved leveling block to pull your front wheel up on to lift your back wheel to change your tire therefore eliminating the need for the bottle jack and crawling under the fifth wheel I hope this might be helpful information if not have good travels anyway
That's a good way to bend that axle. I've straightened quite a few for customers that did what you said. Full timers are usually running fully loaded and by doing that you are doubling the weight limit of that other axle spindle. He did it correctly with a bottle jack and the levelers for support.
Thanks for sharing that info with us and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
If what you say will bend axles then every time a trailer goes over a speed bump or over a curb or one tire drops into a hole everyone would be bending axles every single day I do not believe the axles are so weak that they cannot withstand the weight on one tire on one side when it's connected to the truck@@Itsa_Mea
@@biglug9364 Speed bumps don't cause the other axle to leave the ground and support all the weight of that side.
But pulling the trailer climbing a curb that causes the other axles tire to come up off the ground is another way people do bend axles. This happens alot and is most cases for sudden uneven tire wear.
Remember we're talking about 5th wheel and heavy loaded rv trailers here. Not a little empty cargo or flatbed trailer.
End of the day, do want you want but it is poor advice for one to give to full-timing RVers that are loaded heavy all the time.
You guys are dilly dallying way too much along the road. There are too many bad stories of cars, people and trucks getting ran into along the road. Put your 4 ways on and go slow until you can change in a safe space. Glad you made it this time.
We are glad we made it safely too! 😀 Thanks for watching! ~ Shion and Matthew

We have been hearing that lately! After this latest tire issues, we went and got a tire plug kit, so we will have that in addition to our spare tire. Where do you keep your second spare tire when traveling? Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching too! ~ Shion and Matthew
RV tires should be replaced every 3 years - so replacing the spare is a good idea
3 years?! No. No they don't. Buy a QUALITY tire and change at 5-6 years minimum.

Ugh, hope there’s no more flats in your future. I’m still laughing at your cashew and chex mix. I find stuff from my husband lol. You’re right, that place will be closed down. It’s so, so irritating. I get tired of cleaning up peoples trash! I wonder if they could have volunteer days to clean up the homeless peoples trash, and have designated areas for them? I don’t know the answer but wonder why they can’t take it with them. They obviously got there with all their stuff so they should be able to leave with all their stuff. Enough ranting. Hope your travels are problem free for a while.
We hope to have no more flats either or if we do, hopefully it will happen before we get on the road. No fun changing tires on the interstate! 😱 We agree that if they managed to bring the stuff in, how are they not taking it with them.
