    Brutus is a big fuzzy dirty fur ball and he has already bonded with his barn mates from the looks of it. It will be a foolish predator indeed that even thinks of bothering any of his buddies. Do you need a license to shoot a bear that encroaches on your homestead or are you able to dispose of it if you need to at any time of the year? I think that the moose are more of a danger than the bears though, your thoughts.

    • @4Classie
      @4Classie 3 місяці тому

      I only know Moose are somewhat protected in New Hampshire, with certain Counties issuing tags that are only available if winning lottery, and if winning lottery, it can be a Tag good for only the specified county, ( Al explained on Pod-Cast ) but Tag can be returned - rejected, so that another could harvest the Moose Tag, don't know about Bear Tags or if Nusance allows exceptions !

    With that pregnancy test kit for Azalia, it sounded like you should have re-checked the T-line after another half-hour or so, since it sounded like they were making allowances for different testing conditions. It sounded like the fastest you could expect a result to be visible was 20 minutes, and that after 50 minutes, the result, if any, should be fully visible.

      @@et5222 Agreed, Firstly Al should never stockpile all sizes together ( he has a abundant land area, unconditionally ) plus less drainage gravel with instead throwing Rock sized in the ditch dug, in area where drainage for hydrants was needed, that would extend endurance due to increased amounts of voids in that backfilled area, that Al needed for when hydrants to do their anti-freeze-draining !

He should be able to handle the coyotes but I’m not sure if he can handle the bears. I think he will do just fine. I think a PTO driven manure spreader would be the best option for your farm. I’ve used both types and I prefer the PTO over the wheel driven manure spreaders.

      Actually, the reverse is true. Blade in front still acts as weight to hold the vehicle down, and blade into the ground out front (slightly raising the machine) acts to keep the machine from pulling forward with the digging action. Blade to the rear will not do that. What's going on here is he's digging DOWN too hard, which is not what the machine is designed for. A post hole augur is the right tool. (but they are not cheap)

    All in all, the dirt in the area you dug for the pole doesn't look as bad nor as rocky as some areas youve dug. If you can muster a compost tea system for your composting manuer piles then spray diluted compost tea in your compacted areas, you will begin to get the soil critters doing thier thing towards lossening you compacted areas. Also consider moving your compost piles around towards building better pasture grounds as opposed to just to the side and out of the way.

    • @StoneKathryn
      @StoneKathryn 3 місяці тому +1

      I think he puts the compost piles just off the road so he doesn't tear up his pasture by running the tractor on the soft and grassy land. He wants to avoid compacting the pastures he's growing. It's a good idea to have the piles in different areas to spread the love and make the soil happy. Have a great weekend!

      Al... I had wondered about bears in your area. I'd like to suggest you add a donkey to your family. Donkeys are very protective of their territory & kill bears that invade their space. I had wondered if a bear didn't spook George. You want a full size donkey... Not the mini...because they do more damage.

    Hey Al, I'm thinking you should get a small front unload manuar spreader , you won't be sorry! When you spread manuare on to your pastures, you want it as fine and spread out the best you can.. other manuar spreaders will leave clumps.. and front unload spreders have knives and chops up hay n straw that's a little coarse yet. It will be way better for your grass fields and less loss of nitrogen ..any questions hmu I was a dairy farmer for alot of years..lol

      @cortneyking2489 any spreader will work, you just don't want clumps falling off the sides. If you load it really light you can probably get it done decently. I just looked up a front spreader. Wow did they go up in price since we bought ours 🤦‍♂️

    I'm definitely a PTO driven spreader fan, pair it with the hydrostatic drive on the tractors and you will have infinite spread rates. It's a whole lot easier doing it with 2 tractors. One stays hooked to the spreader the other loads, however you could use the Trackhoe to do the loading and leave the spreader hooked to the TYM. The other option would be a tiny spreader for behind the Kubota and load with the TYM. It would take a couple of trips before the pile would be gone but it wouldn't take long. Given how much you will be spreading you don't need a massive spreader. A smaller single axle would be easier to load. So I would recommend picking the spreader size on ease of loading for you. Given the small amount of spreading you would be doing, I would recommend going with a used spreader if you can find one.

    I've used a mini-ex to dig holes for my solar array, and it was really hard to get a nice vertical hole. You might think about getting an augur attachment for one of your tractors. They make perfect holes in just a couple of minutes. If you are going to keep cattle, you need some fences stronger than T posts and electric wire.

    • @tonygrimes13
      @tonygrimes13 3 місяці тому +1

      And what would all their rocks do to the auger?

    • @BigGuy8059
      @BigGuy8059 3 місяці тому

      @@tonygrimes13
      I put in about 300 chain link fences posts several years back with a two-man auger, and we have rocks too. Augers are tough. They lift out rocks small enough to come out. They steer the hole to the side if the rock is bigger. They help you dig up large rocks. I did sharpen and weld on the blades every night after the digging was done, but no blades were broken. The augers that attach to a tractor are even stronger. That's what the pros use.

    • @4Classie
      @4Classie 3 місяці тому +1

      Wrong Guy; And I read both your comments, problem is that Al tried when installing the Solar Panels near house, the Augers kept deforming, so Al was forced to dig a ditch, then back fill the ditch with dirt, then used the Auger Anchors, to then build the Solar Array; of note the posts were the type with auger, so drill-in to depth and done, then build Solar Array on top, if you notice the Solar Array at bottom corner, an auger anchor has settled - sunk a bit, and Al started at that area and drilled-in a few of the Auger Anchors, and his problems started after a few were set, to fix ( if it gets worse ) is to remove sections from bottom area and reinstall them extending top area of the Solar Array !
      No Auger drills thru Rocks the size of Houses, or the size of a Truck, Al has both largest sizes in his Farm and every size smaller, even had the same 'White Mountain' Range Rocks at his other Homestead, so all his neighbors have similar gigantic Rocks !
      No joke he has a gigantic Rock 4 story tall and just as big on bottom, squared, it is split thru, so a walkway separated into two masses !
