Until the FTC starts slapping these influencers with massive fines it will not stop.
The FTC needs to make an example of one of them. That's what I think it's going to take.
I don’t know why they haven’t, they could get millions of dollars and are currently letting it run with the wind
Naaah, until people stop obsessing over them it won't stop lol
Oh my god, why do you always want to get the government involved. People need to solve problems themselves without running to government for everything.
@Kimberly Tran that's the thing. People can't solve scammers themselves.
Mikayla has sold her dignity, credibility, and reputation for sponsorship money. It’s sad people still support her because she obviously doesn’t care about her fans.
& HER VOICE IS SO BAD
I do not understand why people watch her. I find her extremely annoying. Not to mention full of sh!t.
Did she really even have any?
@@Itstolinho I really don’t understand how people like her get such a large following
Maybe some are too young to know better ? I also think some do it to watch the world burn
I’m soooo tired of Mikaylas face and VOICE LOL
SAME
Her VOICE!!! Omfg. The way my soul wants to break out and fight her. I do not watch her, so I always hope she’s the smallest part of these videos. 😩😤
Same I had to block her and she STILL pops up everywhere for me!
As a Masshole. I SWEAR we do NOT sound like that
She's from Southern MA, they don't sound like they're from Dorchester.
The way I lost trust in Nikkie pains me as I used to follow her on UA-cam…
@@treesoul00 It is weird, maybe it's a way to stay relevant? I don't get it.
I was rooting for her, we were all rooting for her. She out of all influencers should know better when it comes to disclosing sponsorships because UA-cam beauty gurus got loads of hate for not doing so because it breaks FTC guidelines.
@@treesoul00 Nikki started her own make-up company and everytime she speaks about why the prpducts limited she makes it seem as if she s tight on cash . It s wierd
Saaaame. Like not only she just disappeared from YT without even an explanation she's now a sell-out...
@@off.arretezvousx well, she lives in the Netherlands, so probaby "paid partnership" button added by tiktok is enough for her to not get in trouble. but i do agree it's deceiving
Licensed esthetician here! So retinol does NOT thin your skin (studies show it actually strengthens your epidermis) However, it DOES make your skin more sensitive to the sun and you should always use sunscreen if you’re using retinol and reapply throughout the day. I’m so tired of having clients come to see me with ruined skin because of the negligence of tik tokers who have NO IDEA what they’re talking about when it comes to skincare. Especially products like retinol that come with serious consequences if not used safely and properly
how should it be used
I used a prescription retinoid and my dermatologist always warned about letting it pile in wrinkles and the sides of my nose because it would dry out and potentially make them more pronounced over time
@@tigerflamingoes4300 Use it at night only. Start with a low percentage like 0.5 % and only 1-2 times a week as your skin gets used to it you can build up and use it more if you need. I love to skin cycle it. Night 1: Exfoliate Night 2: Retinol Night 3 & 4: hydrate
Repeat.
It is very important to wear sunscreen everyday in the morning it does make your skin more sensitive to sun but it’s such an amazing anti aging ingredient. I’d say it’s best to start using when you hit 20 years old. The Inkey List has a really good starter retinol.
I legit appreciate your TED talk
They love the tea but won’t do the research! Thank you for your PROFESSIONAL comment 🎉
I unfollowed Benefit Cosmetics after they kept posting about Mikayla on their latest brand trip. It was so disappointing to see them supporting her after shes been proven to be a liar multiple times. Her voice is also just so grating and is clearly exaggerated
I couldn’t figure out how people listened to her lol. She sounded annoying
People have found videos of her where she speaks with a normal accent and not her fake Boston accent
@@eileengalindo4949 that's the thing I actively blocked her videos because there was always something that never quite felt right about her
@eyesofivy I saw this! It was crazy to watch it was like the mask was off
@@eyesofivyif these were older videos, then idk if those really count :///
Oh thank god Mikayla finally admits she's obnoxious for views 😂😂😂
For real, the way she speaks (mostly tone) makes me physically cringe
She’s so annoying.
For me I could never act in a way that isnt authentically myself because being obnoxious doesn’t garner long term fans it gives u views. Those views will wane when she wants to stop acting like someone she isn’t or maybe she really is that obnoxious but i know its only gonna drive away real fans
I’m just surprised that anybody nowadays actually believes anything influencers recommend in general…..
i’m surprised like actual adults believe them ones that probably also grew up with OG beauty youtubers… i understand kids since they are so impressionable but adults?? that’s what is surprising 😭
🤭
@@munmunil ikr 😭😭😭
There's only certain people I trust because they don't love everything and tell you how it is, but most no.
Lol I watch them only to see the latest products and too see if I will get anything
Mikayla's voice is like nails on a chalk board. My skin literally crawls when I hear her, so its an instant scroll for me.
Same! I’ve blocked her on TikTok 😂
Yes!! Its like someone with an Long Island accent who has a stuffed nose. Like stfu Mikayla plz 😭
I’m soooo tired of influencers screaming and gasping and pretending things are so amazing and over the top acting over products like they can’t all be AMAZING. I’m soooo tired of over use of the word “obsessed”
And the famous "this is life changing" lol
SERIOUSLY!!! they're obsessed with everything apparently, so how is anyone supposed to actually know what is quality if everything an influencer reviews is always glowingly positive 🤨 I can't think of a single instance where Mikayla has ever said anything negative about a product on my feed. Nothing she posts is a flop apparently, which tips me off something is up lol
Game changing!!!!!! 🤢
I don't like Tana Mongeau but her saying Kim Kardashian in Mikayla accent had me hollering
Tana is another one of those hella annoying people for views. But she’s a Queen troll when it comes to the tea 😂
Fr
I was looking for this comment!😅
Literal same 😂😂😂😂
Same! I had to hold it in since I’m at work
Everytime I hear Nikki react to something my eyes roll so hard they hurt! Nikki is an OG...SHE KNOWS BETTER!!!
It's the over the top shock for me, like she discovered sliced bread. I've never put on blush and gasped so hard.
Not Mikayla recommending people to use retinol to have “overnight” perfect skin.
that chic is an idiot and would say anything for bank. I cannot believe people still believe her BS
The amount of beauty products she got for free 😳 , enough to stock a whole damn store. Never knew it was this much
Enough to feed a lot of kids
Scary sht honestl
Something about it is very fishy to me
Thanks for also featuring something positive. GlamZilla's acts of generosity for kids and the women's shelter are really commendable. Made me tear up as I'm from Toronto as well.
I don't know how to explain it, but Glamzilla has a very fake way of talking for me? like it feels like she isn't being honest or genuine
Exactly. Way too overdrawn
Yesss! The inflection in her voice is as if she’s talking to a bunch of children, not adults. Sounds very fake.
I was searching the comments section just to see if anyone else mentioned it too. It's just... Hard to listen to. We all know you don't talk like that in real life so why even pretend at all?
I was about to comment the same thing!
its like the "influencer accent"
If these skincare products truly worked then why are they still using filters? 🤷♀️🙊
why do they NEVER learn..? it’s like they have a mentality of a snail or something cuz that can’t be normal 😭😭
They don't learn because there are no consequences.
They look like aliens
snail mentality 😭
because their stans never hold them accountable. Like when ppl called mikayla an uNbOtHerEd quEeN when she blowed over the scandal instead of holding her accountable
Mikayla is a liar! Thank you for bringing this to light, Tea Spill!
Wow. That Kim Kardashian thing was horrible. I hate when people go around acting obnoxious.
The FTC needs to go after the companies who are paying the influencers as well as the platforms allowing them to advertise. I'd like to see them go after the influencers as well but in this whole thing the influencer is the the smallest player in the game.
That's what the government is good at
Exactly!
I work in a derm office. Retinol is meant to be used consistently (with other sun protections usually 50 spf) and it takes a while to see results. Also (if you can I know insurance is awful here in the us) please just make a skin check appt with a Dermatologist to discuss your skin concerns they can actually help you 😭😭 it's difficult to trust influences reviews of skincare when they're usually getting paid but derm will tell you what you should use and if you need a prescription management plan
OMFG Mikayla's voice irks my soul!!!🚩🚩🚩
Same!!!
I’m very shocked about Nikki, I always was impressed with the disclosure system she had on UA-cam.
"Look at the immediate radiance," she says as her skin is wet from a freshly applied product.
Freshly applied filters
most moisturizers will give u an immediate radiance. if u want radiance when u wake up in the morning, use a super hydrating moisturizer. i like the snail mucin cream from corsrx and the tatcha dewy skin cream. not together tho.
i mean retinol does make you naturally glowy but that is over time not after one use
I don't think Mikayla even cleaned off her skin properly before she applied the product 😅 we just see her swiping a cotton pad across her face lol
Consumers need to start holding brands accountable. Once we speak with our money, the brands will hopefully start to get their act together.
Esthetician here, Retinol doesn’t thin your skin but thickens it, YOU NEED TO WEAR SUNSCREEN as it increases cell turnover which sensitizes your skin and makes it more susceptible to sun damage. You should wear sunscreen everyday regardless, BUT ESPECIALLY when you use retinol or any chemical exfoliation. Also retinol takes months to work and causes an intense “purging” stage in most people where you break out have dry skin but you wait it out and get perfect skin.
Even on days you don't leave the house we need to wear sunscreen too? Jw
I use products that have retinol in it because of acne and yes my skin is dry af in those spots
@@platanoluver sun rays can come in through windows
@@hopemkay1 what is it?
I'm so sad Nikkie's pulling this type of stunt. She used to be so good with making sure everything she used in a video was tagged whether it was PR or bought with her own money. I can't believe shes doing this on tiktok with an audience who dont know what she used to be like on UA-cam.
Yes super disappointed in her
the thing is, being a partner is technically different than being sponsored, but legally they’re different as far as i know of. either way, it’s still unethical
I hope I never see RawBeautyKristi or Kathleenlights on here. They're the only ones left to trust IMO. And say all you want about how Kristi isnt about beauty anymore. But even with products she's talked about for her son and home are honest as well as the makeup she uses. She never fails to mention to take EVERYTHING she says with a grain of salt, even if it works for her, it might not work for her viewers. Thats honestly really appreciated. Kathleen is honest about the products she uses too. They deserve more recognition.
I used to be a Kathleen follower for so long, but idk she rubs off as one of them now.
Look for Robert Welsh👌
When Tana Mongoose makes fun of you, you ARE the problem
Honestly unless they outright say “this is not sponsored”, whenever I see an “influencer” talking wonders of products, I automatically assume it’s a partnership 🤷🏻♀️
Exactly but with these influencer they always compliment and looove the product 😂😂 .....except once in a while
Honestly at this point i assume any popular influencer is being paid for their reviews🤷🏻♀️
True, everybody needs to pay the bills so they aren't posting anymore without being paid.
Give Glamzilla an Oscar, that acting is top notch 🤣
That’s why I only look up small channels on YT for makeup reviews. They have nothing to lose for being honest
Gawd, I couldn’t get myself into watching Mikayla’s videos. Not only her voice, but the fact that she lies in her reviews? It’s one thing if she was an honest reliable influencer, then sure, I’m probably just a hater lol, but like, she’s not honest AND her voice makes me cringe? I don’t feel as bad Lol.
Same here. Only heard 5 seconds of her voice and I have a headache.
Its the phony BS act that pisses me off. I cannot see anybody over the age of 12 following her and believing her total scam.
Tana running around yelling Kim Kardashian made me laugh way harder than it should have
1:27 the way she says "KIM K" makes me believe she is slowly going insane or has already gone insane
It's like nails on a chalkboard
Been insane
I always explain this to my customers, sunscreen with retinol is a must. and not some skimpy 15spf i'm talking more in the 30-45spf range same with any exfoliants like vitamin c. those always need a strong sunscreen. if you're going to be promoting any kind of active skin care or skin care in general you have to give a through explanation on how to use it so they can get the best use out of it and not damage their skin.
I feel like people aren't talking about how the BRANDS are allowing this content as well. Influencers have to send content thats sponsored for approval! Brands have legal teams and they should know whats legally required.
Calling them out does nothin. Hit their pockets by not watching/buying from them and unsubbing. They'll never learn and ppl will just keep complaining 🙄
The FTC is like the FDA. They could care less about what these people do.
I hate hearing "Kim Kardashian" in a voice that doesn't sound like a chainsmoking 90 year old bricklayer from Boston so Mikayla's version is infuriating lmao
Chainsmoking 90 year old bricklayer 😂😂😂
💀
What do you think of actress Abella Danger's voice? 🤣🤣
I mean, maybe it's just me but the Olaplex tiktok felt very much like a paid video lol, didn't seem very subtle
Exactly! Like if someone couldn’t figure that out then maybe they shouldn’t be on the internet 😂
I'm over all of them 💀💀💀
Those giveaways where they donate money is a tax write off for them. It’s actually a tax write off for any person that donates to these charities DIRECTLY. She is also using the stuff that she gives away as a tax write off. It’s a win-win for her because she’s really not spending anything on the items she’s giving away if it helps her keep from paying taxes at the end of the year. She can also ask companies for items to give away. Sure it’s for a great cause, but why not just give that money directly to the charities rather than giving it to someone else to hand over. That way, you ensure it’s actually going where you intend it to go. ❤
Nikkie was the ONE make-up influencer I went to if I wanted to know if a product was actually good. I'm pretty heart broken actually.
Glamzilla: I thought you can’t sell the items gifted to you for PR though? It’s great she’s doing this but I hope she doesn’t get in trouble.
She probably has receipts of her donations from the proceeds..
Is she selling them or just giving them away?
@@crystala7x182 she was selling them to raise money but I believe this happened in Toronto a few weeks ago
Are you kidding lmao. They all do it. Anonymous beauty sales online, Laura Leech was especially obnoxious with it.
Tana's impression of Mikayla made me laugh so much.
I’m tired of this like why can’t they just be honest
They’re not honest individuals
A lot of influencers still don’t verbally specify if it’s a paid promotion. Also, they now have to pay income tax on PR. Wonder how many are actually going to do that.
Glad people are talking about this! I hate that we cant tell if they are being paid or not. Most of them don’t seem genuine anymore. They all just overly hype up everything they use.
These influencers do not care about their following it’s all about pushing product and making money for them…that’s it! “Influencing” has been the demise of not just the beauty industry but everything else too. It drives product sales and that’s why these companies invest some much into the people they work with. It’s smart on big corps and as a society we feed right into it.
Yup… I think tik tok is one big scam
Tana Mongoose was so funny 😂
Glamzilla is going to be the MrBeast of the make up world… if she could only disclose it would be perfect
In all the comments this was the only one I could see about Glamzilla being a boss. She made my heart swell and restored some faith in humanity 🥰
Sorry but Glamzilla is so fake. I realized that her overly excited thing is all a facade to get sponsorship. Noticed that even if the product is so underwhelming but its a luxury brand, she will give glowing reviews like she just discovered fire. She's lost so much authenticity. Even her charity is just for show.
@@KemiiDK they do it to avoid taxes 🙄
@@chaconchakay but she’s doing what governments SHOULD like people pay taxes and teachers still get terrible pay, and children still have shitty schools instead of coming for her because it’s a tax write off it’s better to criticize the actual people in power who have the people’s money to make schools better but decide not to
@@munmunil ah yes sure lets justify crime ✨ lets all stop playing taxes then governments will have money for better schools etc right? Its their job right? They can just print the money righ? Girl bfr🤦♀️🤦♀️
I happen to know for a fact that one of these influencers you mentioned sells her PR on an auction site.
People keep watching and supporting them. If they rub me the wrong way or start being in genuine I just keep it moving. So many other great creators out there
Mikayla def exaggerates her accent, I also grew up in Massachusetts, not far from where she grew up. I have an accent too, and I also say "K-AH-dashian" similar to her. I dont think I sound like that though...at least I'd hope not because yikes.
You know, funny thing about this type of people is that if You stop paying attention to them, their "influence" disapears... Like the Simpsons song just don't look, just don't look. Also, doing a good thing, recording and uploading it to the internet, is still looking for attention so its not a good deed, just wanting attention no matter what they say
i just wanted to say i love your channel, i also love your voice. i think it’s kinda cool that i literally can’t imagine what you look like and that your identity is pretty much or entirely secure. i love that you have that privacy and safety🤍
I love this about tea spill too! 🥰
Tea spill! Youre just the best way to unwind!!
I work in a makeup concept store in Australia and I do bridal makeup, however I went to Sephora & Mecca the other day and I realised how over-saturated the market is. I used to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of makeup each time I would go to these stores and even with the brand I work for. But I’m so over buying makeup. It’s all pretty much the same, there is nothing new, nothing that excites me anymore, and I am a makeup fanatic and hoarder and always have been. Not every product you try is game changing, it’s inauthentic to try and convince people that they need 15 different liquid blushes from different brands because they are all game changing. I’m not even on social media and it annoys me. I can see everyone’s attitudes changing towards beauty influencers and it’s a breath of fresh air, try products before you buy, and if you’ve already got a product that is the same and it works for you, no you don’t need the same product from a different brand just because of the hype. Save that money for something else!!
omg this!!!!
for real like i love watching nikkietutorials i think she’s entertaining but you will never catch me buying more makeup than the same walgreens stuff ive been wearing for years lol
And… so who’s gonna sue them and hold them accountable?
The worst thing is that mascara is actually really good. She didn't even need to do that. But, making an example of her helped expose EVERYONE else and essentially helped heal a community.
Girl doesn’t have enough lashes
I wonder if they get a bonus amount of money if they don't properly disclose 🤔
I think they assume consumers are more likely to buy the product if it’s not seemingly sponsored, thus they bring in more traffic to the brand and the product.
While they have to know how to do it by now with all the attention sponsorship content is getting, I don't think they're hiding it to be malicious either. I truly think they are just dealing with inflated egos that it's not a super big deal because there haven't really been consequences other than comment backlash.
Girl
There were a lot of errors in the comments about retinol: it does NOT “thin your skin”, on the contrary, it actually helps collagen growth. Not everyone goes through a dry or flaky “retinolization” period. It depends on the person’s skin, the type of retinol product used, and how the person uses the retinol.
But yes, SPF should be used. SPF should be used regardless of any other skincare you use because why would you bother spending time and energy doing a skincare routine just to go out without SPF and make it all useless?
How does anyone stand Mikayla's voice is beyond me
The way that Mikayla makes me cringe no matter what she’s doing 😬
I’m just so tired of the fakeness of these product reviews. It’s getting old.
Not gonna lie, I hate that they do these sketchy sponsorships that are, in fact, illegal. But, imma give it to glamzilla...donating that much is freaking INCREDIBLE. Like, it made me cry and I hope it inspires more influencers to do stuff like this!
I’ve probably seen 20 TikTok beauty influencer tea videos and I can watch 100 more. I’ll never get tired of them and I don’t even have a TikTok!
Same and I like this channel lol
Just to comment on retinol… Yes, you are more prone to getting a sunburn bc it can irritate your skin, not bc it thins your skin. Many ppl say that, but data shows it actually thickens your skin and promotes collagen production.
We should just report them so they get fined. If they lose money maybe they will stop.
@@Balletified still fines and it would get annoying to pay over and over again.
I have seen Mikayla's Kim k video many times(or actually heard😅) but the way she said Kim Kardashian has me still rolling on the floor I can't get ovet it. I love it😂
I think that brands also ask that the sponsor label be barely visible so that the public believes that it is an honest review and that the product itself is wonderful, it seems to me that it is all a marketing strategy, very shady
How can anyone trust ANY influencer when they don't even disclose the use of filters?
I remember watching the nikkietutorial blush video on UA-cam shorts.I never knew it was a sponsorship as it was on UA-cam and I never would have checked forthose hashtags other description.I honestly thought that the blush was a good product.God these influences really.. y trying to fool their audience ig
I love Adam&Eve support and actually was missing it ♥ I swear this channel ismt you without sponsorship from Adam&Eve. I love it.
Lol the accountant probably said she can’t take a tax deduction for donating the PR goods because she probably didn’t probably report the income in the first place. If you receive a product in exchange for a social media shoutout then that’s an exchange of goods and services and technically needs to be reported as income.
I used Mikayla saying Kim Kardashian's name to startle my cat. It worked.
😂😂😂
Lmao
Okay, I was not prepared for the switch from Tea spills soothing vice to whatever that was at 1:13
1:40 not me cry laughing at 8 in the morning bc of Tana 😭😭
the "kim kardashian" made me angry
They know we all skipping anything that says “sponsored” or “paid partnership” we no longer watching
I don’t trust a thing any influencer says about any products. I’d much rather try the product out myself or look at customer reviews.
Cannot believe people still think that’s mikayla’s real voice. She sounds like she’s constantly doing an impression of Matt Damon in the departed.
Lmao yessss
Mikayla selling that as pure retinol-retinol is yellow. If it’s not yellow, it’s been thru too much processing.
ERBORIAN CC Red Correct is sitting smack dab in the middle of Glamzilla’s $50,000 pile. I’d recognize that packaging anywhere
How hard is it to say “I was sent the most pigmented blush” vs “I found”.
Also one more thing about retinol: It is absolutely contraindicated during pregnancy as retinol is linked to birth defects. Women who use retinol for skincare benefits or treatment purposes need to stop using at least 3 months prior to conception.
sometimes people get pregnant on accident though
*new fear added*
Influencers would do anything to get the attention but brands shouldn't allow this 🤨
As someone from Toronto this bothers me SO much from Glamzilla which is why I followed her initially as a fellow BIPOC in the city and this makes me so incredibly sad. These public schools are under funded and I bet she chose the Under served areas as well to sell it. I’m happy she made that money for them which is nice but god. It’s so hard to tell what’s real anymore.
These people are deceptive. They should be called out & they are suppose to give a list of winners once the contest is over. Do they ever post the results? Mikayla's voice is just not for beauty tutorials, she has a gorgeous face tho.
Was that sarcasm?😂
influencers and the brands sponsoring them ruined the beauty community
FR we just one authentic, genuine & F HONEST PEOPLE & BRANDS 🤦🏻♀️😤😠 I’m sick of this BS
She should have claimed it as a tax write off. Get the money back and just keep on giving. It becomes a cycle.👌
She probably did
And yet no one will stop watching them to get the point across.
Glamzilla seems to annoying with being overly expressive and fake
I don't know if I am just used to them doing this, but it was very obvious that either Glamzilla had a paid sponsorship or was trying to sell this to Olaplex ~ it's wrong, but it is a good product, so there's that, anyway.
I don't trust any influencers anymore. 😢
There are absolutely no consequences for these influencers to give a shit if they disclose or not. Obviously it’s not that big of a law to break or they’d all be fined for their dishonesty.
Is there something and we, the consumer, can do? Like report them to the FTC?
