  • apologies, el sound is a bit different this time, camera's anti-wind setting thing is terrible
In this video, I'm in Glasgow and I have a look at the two of the ways you can travel between Partick and Glasgow City Centre, comparing the ScotRail and the Glasgow Subway. I look at the ride, fares and give a quick summary of my preferred method.

Roundabouts are available at ticket machines. Just buy it like a normal A-B ticket, typing the destination as Roundabout

For me the obvious solution to the overcrowding on the national rail lines? And the knock-on delays that ensue when something goes wrong?
Reopen the 'Glasgow Central Railway' through the westend and run Argyle line (Central low level) trains along that.
That means less conflict at Gartnavel & Kelvinhaugh junctions, allowing for more frequent service through both Queen Street and Central low level stations.
Close Exhibition Centre station and replace it with an interchange station at 'Finnieston' between the two lines for passengers who want to change (i.e. Partick to central or Botanic Gardens to Queen st.).
Id also throw in an infill station at 'Blythswood Square' between Charing cross & Queen st., To better serve the west end of Sauciehall Street, Glasgow School of Art and arguably the RCS.

Great video really enjoyed it. If I had to choose one transport from Partick to queen street is the subway as it’s much easier. Merkland street subway was a few hundred yards from Partick station which closed in 1977 for the modernisation plan with the Partick interchange and central station low level line reopening as The Argyle Line

With the girls wearing shorts I'd guess it was a nice day in Glasgow. Enjoy your pint.

I probably would say Glasgow Subway and the new Subway trains are coming into service later this year or next year.

I have the general rule that unless your start and end point are within a 5 min walk of a subway station, you're best using the bus/scotrail/nextbike instead. It's kinda like mason mount taking the underground between St Pancras and euston instead of walking to catch his train to Manchester ;)

Maybe you could make a video from Queen St Station to Central Station by rail and on foot to see how long each takes.

Great video! Have you been on the Renfrew Ferry? Might be the shortest ferry trip in Scotland!

Would generally use the train providing there is one due, however finding the manners and approach of some SPTE (Subway) staff is very poor, also closes very early on a Sunday and their card reading machines are quite unpredictable. Enjoyed the comparison though.
