I've got to admit, I've not got the biggest interest in subway systems but having enjoyed the Virtual District Line a lot lately I decided to give this a go. Really glad I did as despite it being an underground loop I've enjoyed driving around and seeing the detail that's been included on not just the trains, but the stations too. Superb little route, and a great addition to Train Simulator Classic!
32:48. That opening area was the location of the original Merkland Street Station. That closed permanently in 1977 when the 3 year modernisation project on the system began and was moved to the location where Partick Station is. Props to the simulator actually putting that little detail in.
Nice recreation. The stations are pre-refurbishment (no more cream and brown tiling, for example, and there are now glass partitions at stations like Buchanan St. and Hillhead) but some of the decoration, like the maps and information posters inside the train, are more current with the white and orange colour scheme.
There is a Shields Road in Newcastle, Joe! I laughed when you said that, as when I first saw Shields Road in this route I also thought of Shields Road in Newcastle :o)
When the subway was refurbished from 1977 - 1980 the new trains originally typically ran as 2 car sets. Intermediate trailers were constructed later but seeing a 3 car set formed of 3 cab cars isn't uncommon at all even today.
Looks good doesn't it! Opened in 1896! just incredible engineering when you consider it was probably dug by hand. Operated by a cable system originally. (Good old Wikipedia 😁)Blows me away. Thanks Joe, good video. It's downloading now.....😀
I still can't help but feel the whole thing has a bit of a "BVE" feel to it, but then I guess there's only so much you can do with an underground system haha! Glad i've inspired you to get it Nick! :D
Hi Joe how are you I hope all is well. Please can you tell me your steering wheel & pedals set up what make do you use & do you have a Pedal load cell Mod on them ? Thank you for another great UA-cam video I love it. Take care & stay safe. 🚇 ( I'm now a member to my first UA-cam channel ) in all the years I've been following people's content your the best by far ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ so thank you.
It's a tricky layout for sure. I decided to search for Glasgow by upload date. Happy to find this. UA-cam is the greatest invention in the history of man. I've been on this thousands of times. Second or third oldest underground railway in the world.
i'm not sure why yours was going so slow -- it literally only takes about 6 seconds to get to max speed for me i live in glasgow so i can confirm they aren't just really sluggish lol
You missed the best part, the PA button on the wall to your left in the cab does announcements, thanks for the video

Nobody in Glasgow ever called it the Clockwork Orange

This route is modelled to how it was in the 80s and the trains' acceleration is much better in reality

The sound is perfect.
I appreciated it on headphones.

Thanks Anthony! That's really useful to know thank you! I have very little knowledge about the area.
@@JoeDobsongaming I was born there - and I'm a passenger train conductor up here in Scotland myself.
The depot for the electric trains on the west coast main line was at Shields road

Having a quick look, it looks like those original trains were used all the way up until these ones were introduced

@@JoeDobsongaming ahh, good old BVE🥲
@@JoeDobsongaming train sim really does feel like bve. wish there was more NYC mods for train sim tho
This is exactly how the subway looked it has changed a lot except the trains are still in service till next year
(Glaswegian here) Would definetly ride on the subway, getting new trains now.

The amount of times I've been so drunk missing my stop on that train and just riding in circles for hours
Thanks Joe enjoyed
Hey Joe, how are you? I love you videos!
Hi Tsar Williams! I’m very well how are you?
@@JoeDobsongaming very well as well! Thanks for asking!
Great video Joe! These trains are from the 1980's
Joe, do u know about the tyne and wear metro? If u do, imagine that for ts classic that would deffo be ACE
I would change at St Enochs for Central personally. Buchannan Street for Queens Street.
Buchanan Station is closer to Glasgow Queen Street n the pa system is good on the underground
TSW5 needs this

Ah my apologies for the delay in reply :) But of course you know my secret wheel and pedal setup now! ;)
Yay my home city love it.
The people waiting on the platforms look like giants. XD
It's funny cause it s actually the trains that are small 😂😂
The trains have been in service since 1981, we're expecting new stock to be deployed soon.

That accelerates far too slow.
It looks like something from Roblox :/
"Eye-brox" FFS.
You're obviously not a golfer.
There is a much better game on Roblox.
