This week I built myself a standing desk! This project was long overdue as my old was a sight for sore eyes. The new desk is also a standing desk so I can work at my computer more comfortably. Fezibo was kind enough to send me their Ultra 3-Stage Frame and I built the desktop myself. I built it out of 2x4s, then burned them, and added epoxy on top! The project turned out better than expected and I am so happy to work at my new desk!
Thank you for watching and hopefully you found the video helpful!

I would suggest to make an epoxy proof wall covering the gaps (some tape or oil to prevent the expoxy sticking) from behind with some hot silicon to seal it and then filling the gaps with some more expoxy. Sand all the sides stright to the original wood and turn it to satin or even mate finish so the texture really pops up. Great work!
Props for the Akrapovič exhaust! It's from my country :) great video!
Desk is DOPE!!! That's all I got to say about that, Dirty Jersey out!!!
Thank you!! I love how it turned out 😁
I love the random gaps on the ends...adds a lot of character. Nice job!!
Thank you!! I love the look too 😁
FYI...we're actually neighbors (a few subvisions apart) so if you need help let me know so the wife does not have to do any heavy lifting...although she handled it like a pro!@@GoldenKeyDesign
I don’t normally like black furniture, but I do think it fits really well into your light rooms. And I like that floating Computer, I imagine it not catching as much dust and a lot easier to clean the floor.
Thank you! It really contrasts the lighter room nicely! And yes, mounting the computer makes it much easier to clean and allows the computer to run cooler
Love that chard wood look! Also like that you left the gaps along the edge 👍
Glad you like it! Thank you!!
Nicely done. Love the look of it.
Thank you very much!
I gotta say, you guys put together some of the best content on UA-cam. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, thank you so much! Thanks for watching!
Time to invest in a shop vac! 😂
Another great video! Well done!
We have a nice one but I didn't hook it up haha! Thank you!!
Very cool desk! Using 2x4s to build the top is a good alternate to the wood slab that other UA-camrs are using to build standing desk, table, and what-have-you. A couple of comments, though, I think you could benefit from having a pair of sturdy sawhorses, and a jobsite mobile stand for your table saw. If you had to do build another standing desk, I would recommend placing the desk top on the mobile table you used earlier in the video, with the underside facing up, that way you can assemble the frame and everything else on the table. Then with your wife or a helper, flip the table right side without having to bend, twist, and risk injury.
Thank you - the 2x4s are a great budget option! And that’s a great tip! We definitely learned our lesson haha 😂
So tidy! That turned out great!
Thanks Tony!! I agree 😁
Very nice man! Keep up the great work! It's a great motivator for me to get busy with my home! Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
Cool looking desk! You went extra crispy on that wood. haha. Really, it looks great!
Thank you! The more fire, the better haha!
Turned out nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching 😁
Wow, that looks amazing.
Thank you so much!! Really proud with how this one turned out
Це унікально. Я б ніколи про це не подумав. Драбина виглядає знайомо!
Дякую тобі! Мені подобається вигляд столу! Це чудова драбина!
Very cool-looking desk! I wonder if the epoxy will show a lot of fingerprints. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts in the future. Keep up the great content!
Thank you!! So far it’s held up great with no issues! It’s pretty durable stuff but I’ll let you know how it is in the long term
Looks awesome! With it being a standing desk, though, I'm wondering if you could've hollowed it out underneath. You'd be able to manage a lot more cables and it'd be a lot lighter.
Thank you! And that’s a great idea!
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Thanks!
Could you please tell me how the epoxy finish is holding up? It’s been a few months and I wonder if you have any scratches at all.
It's held up very well! There are no scratches, but a few small indentations that are only visible if looking up close. The reason for the indentations is because I started using the desk a few days after the final pour but I should have waited a couple weeks to let the epoxy fully cure to 100%
Grant- this needs more LEDs!
I thought about adding some to bring it to life a bit. Might have to make a part 2 👀
what is the approximate weight of the desktop after epoxy?
I would guess around 100lbs
@@GoldenKeyDesign Thank you!
So, no one's gonna say anything about 0:57?
The camera angle makes it appear closer than it really is. My hand was a good 3 inches from the blade
You pour that epoxy in the carpeted room makes me really nervous.
I made sure to put cardboard down to catch any drips and we plan to tear out all this carpet shortly 👀
Carpet is clearly going by by
@@kcChicken123 We'll be tearing it out in an upcoming video - stayed tuned!
Not a fan of people taking their dogs with them into stores -- stepping in dog poop is not pleasant. I do enjoy your channel.
I’m glad you enjoy the channel! We only bring Olive to stores that allow dogs like Home Depot. She is also very well trained and would never go to the bathroom inside the store
@@GoldenKeyDesign I probably shouldn't have said anything - I'm sure you dog is well trained -- but I'm sure you've seen some in stores that are not. I do like the alligator finish on the desk, I see a lot of people sanding off the burnt part when used outside -- which defeats the purpose.
@@johnmarquardt1991 Thanks! Appreciate the comment
Did you round over the top edge with a router? 3 mm round over makes a huge difference on the forearms. Great table, although i lrefer natural wood colour
Great point! I didn't round over the edge with a router, but during the burning process the edge was naturally rounded over by the flame
