- The continued search to find routes for bigger 4x4 campervans to get down.
So far we have been to the peaks and the dales but now time for some off road trails in North Yorkshire.
Unfortunately there was a week long storm leading upto this camp so the lanes weren’t in the best condition to pass. The main lane on top of the moor was amazing tho and made up for it.

Great video on my local patch. Love the idea of a Yorkshire dales and moors weekend plus the off-road centre thing sound perfect for a newbie like me.

That water crossing with the stepping stones: when the water's over the stepping stones and running fast, it's probably best avoided, even in a Defender or a Jeep. As you enter the water from the way you were approaching it, you need to take a wide entry (stick to the left for a couple of meters) to avoid an underwater washout on the right hand side caused by vortex's which swirl and wash the river bed out. I've seen vehicles float there and scramble for traction. The exit on the other side is steep. In good conditions it's no problem. The bridge you were parked under, if you go past it, there's another lane. In summer it tends to get overgrown and very scratchy, in winter it's not so scratchy. However, attempting it in a van is probably a no due to overhanging branches. I've seen a Defender do it with a roof tent on, and it was very close. Nevertheless, it's a great lane, but it's very deeply rutted and a tyre killer; you need strong sidewalls such as BFG have.
Yea I had a walk up the one the other side of the bridge and it was washed out at the bottom corner so I left it.

@bugoutvehiclesuk. Really enjoyed this vid :). I have just bought a Cali Ocean 4Motion to be able to get out and about for my landscape photography hobby (obsession!). I've added a few bits to, hopefully, make it a little more capable off-road. I would be very interested in a package that would help me use my van off-road. If this is poss, would you be able to provide some details, please? TIA
I will post the details as they come in. I’m gushing interest first as it’s not cheap to go down every route and check out every spot so it’s as and when I’m free at the min.
Nice vid, would love a 4x4 Sprinter campervan. Currently have a 64 plate rwd MWB high top busy converting. I would be interested in a list of green lanes you feel a 2wd with ATs could manage with.
Yea I’m on with putting lists together. It just takes a lot of weekends driving about to find what’s passable and what’s a no go.
Ya can't beat some quality farther and daughter time, mine loves trips out in (Trevor) the defender. Wife gets the shopping and hairdressing trips lol

Lane 2 you wouldn’t get the van up the trees get very low at the top my 110 just gets through with plus 2 HD springs and 33 tyres with the roof rack on top

Brilliant ! Now I need to do it, looking for a sprinter 4x4 or similar, then a free weekend, bring on the Christmas holidays.
I know where there is a good spec mega low miles high roof MWB sprinter for around £25k

A lot of it is similar to the Evomotion 3D lay out but I did my own bed and a bigger shower room.

Pleased to find this account. After years of riding in remote places on desert bikes now about to buy a 4x4 motorhome. Lots of stuff in US & Australia but this is one of the few based not only in UK but in Yorkshire. Give me 2 wheels & I’ll go anywhere, done the Landrover instructors course years ago, but a total novice with a camper. Looking forward to learning.
Nice. Had given some thought to coming to the last one but it was MOT time on the ninety and had taken tent off for winter. will be keeping eye on dates for next year but also trying to get trials motor back out after to many years off and marshallling possibly when I should have been spannering. Cant do everything can you. In the mean time MOT passed marshalled last trial of year Shropshire Off Road Club. Hoping I havent blown head gasket on way there (300 tdi) and done something simpler like split exhaust pipe spitting under load oh well. got me back from shrewsbury at 50 -60 mph nursed to black country. Diagnose this weekend, should be nice n fresh, joys of the hobby, but have this year invested in second road vehicle., 90 not the daily driver now but it can be. still enjoying the vlogs. By the way me other daily a 2012 Soul, yes I have seen some you tube vids but its the daily however does seem capable for 2wd n ice this week as traction control kicks in about the same time I am backing off. Enjoy. Still like sitting up there in the 90 though..

Hi. What are sprinters like I'm in water. Mine has crank sensor on sump and electrics below seat etc (T1N). Just interested. Cheers
It will never be a Landy in water but the van is pretty high it’s self so that’s a good start. Iv got raised air on it but I wouldn’t want to be sat in more than 2ft of water for long.
Good call on the river crossing, ive been through in the height of summer and its still deep!
