Punk, who’s stated Jamie’s his favourite character, thinks Jamie is good now so hopefully he plays him more especially in tournaments to really see how he is.
Manon has been my main since I started and it always feels like while other characters are playing normal chess, manon is like playing 4d chess. You have to constantly be 4 steps ahead of your opponent

She's a grappler, it really isnt that hard. Strike / throw on wakeup. Mix throw in your strings, ta da.
As a Manon main, I agree that she’s definitely the worst character in the game. It’s too hard to initiate your offense with her. Moreover, having just one move plus on block (backHP) isn’t enough, especially because the range is so short. Besides that, the game doesn’t really incentivize you to do some of her more flashy combos when you can just grab your opponent and stack your medals. She’s also very meter hungry and burns through drive gauge like it’s going out of style. I love playing with her, but she really is a hassle. She may be easy to use, but she’s astronomically difficult to win with.

Let me say, the changes to his headbutt and slam give him less cheap shit, but mostly make them better as tools to get in and mixup pressure. His normal options are wild now, but a lot of tight frame data to connect things. He feels like he has the fully rounded gameplan that they intended for him and serious improvements to options. Frankly, I feel like the challenges and changes are similar to thing that Ryu was also lacking. I think Ryu is always going to be stronger on a tier list because shoto, but Honda now has the options and combos he needed for his buff and overall combo game. So wherever he eventually lands on tiers, if you're interested in Honda, he's fun and feels like he at least can be effective.

(Sobs) CHUN LI IS GODDESS TIER TO ME!!!! The constant damage nerf continues to be annoying.
People know corner and corner carry is strong but I think people STILL underestimate how insane it actually is. It's why Ken didn't fall off and he's is still top tier.
Really good patch, they took a long time to assess and made safe changes that brought characters towards the middle a bit. Even if a character or 2 could have done with a firmer push its much better this way than overshooting and obliterating chars or accidently turning a low tier into miles and away the only viable character.
thanks for the video, i always find your opinions very informed and really interesting. that being said, to make the tier list format more meaningful maybe instead of labelling the tiers S-Z you could describe how you differentiate between the tiers.

It's a little too early for me to argue anything comfortably but I feel this list is going to be contentious for a lot of people. Ken and Akuma I think are the top 2 characters. I think people are complaining about Cammy a bit too much. JP I think is more relevant than people think. Aki might be the only one I agree with being slept on because she's a contender for top 8. Ryu is much better but he isn't THAT good. Just my opinion but it is early.
JP is mid tier, everyone agree on that.
I agree with mcmura. Rashid and guile both have broken aspects that you cant do anything against, but to hope they make a blunder.
to me this tier list is super accurate. I agree ppl bitch about Cammy too much and always have. Shes probably A tier, but not at the top of it. DeeJay is still better, so is blanka, and maybe others but those 2 for sure
Jps down-heavy punch might be the most wank anti-air in the game after the nerf. They should give him an anti-air back and nerf the level 2 and I think he’d be perfect

Im a plat, havn't played in a couple months, and just clicked through the video, but i have 2 major take aways
1. My character is too high
2. Character i hate is too low

I dont think DJ is a step below the S tiers. The knee PC state is pretty specific since a lot of the anti airs that handle it reliably don't cause knockdown on PC, and the crMK recovery nerf gets a little offset by the hitbox position buff, as well. The jab damage nerf is probably the most prevalent damage nerf. He still is the same, pretty much.
I do think the overall damage nerfs with the OD Sway combos, OD fireballs in the neutral, the reduced distance on his UP kicks makes his punishes in some matchups like Juri/Jamie etc harder, Sway low PC scaling, etc
All of em compile up to make him objectively a character that have to open you up a bit more to win. I think his design originally had some flaws like a meh low game and some vulnerability to DI but it was offset with his insane damage output.
Now I think he is all around more in line with the rest of the roster. He is still very much in the top 8-12 or so range so obviously very good but i wouldn't say he is S tier right now personally. I can't in good faith say he is better than say Guile, Rashid, Luke, Chun, etc

Checking out the analytics that Cat Cammy puts out is really interesting. They analyze match data and character win rates n stuff, so I think that is a better measure of any system of ranking than someones opinions. Chun is always rated as high in the tier, but her win rates don’t reflect this at all (she’s slighter below middle), whereas the highest win rate characters (looking at 1700+MR players using their mains) were Ken, Ed, Cammy, Akuma and Zangief. Check out Cat Cammy though. Really interesting data.
U said chun li got damage nerfs to an extent but I think she has one of the worst damage needs out of the ones u listed
Everyone disagreeing with this list but to me it seems the closest to accurate of any ive seen for season 2 so far. I 1000% agree with Ryus placement and even tho he said the tiers arent in order either, i actually would mostly put them in the order they are in, especially S tier.
It's brave to post a tier list. Good on ya, Mura. IMO, Akuma up 1, Ryu, Jamie and Marissa down 1. Otherwise, I agree. Jamie is never going to be consistent with his gimmick.

I just wanted Rashid's cr.mp actually works as proper anti-air, and done, the character is in a really good spot right now.

I do think when it comes to the top 5 strongest characters I do fully agree it's Rashid, Guile, Akuma, Ken & personally Luke comes last. His fireball is still as good and does more damage doing OD.
I would say tho Manon is not dead last for I've seen Idom putting in the work with her and is getting some results.
Guile is not top 5 thats a fact. Jp and Marisa walk over him. Chun li beats him. And you wont see him win any majors i guarantee it
Snakeeyez won a CPT event with Gief and he was dead last back then. I think its fairly balanced all things considered but i do fully believe she is bottom 1 atm

I think you had honda right before you took him off. End of B tier, but Manon worse. His tools seem like they would make him better, but they dont. He has more bad matchups, he is super meter dependent than anyone else, and they essentially gave Bison better season 1 honda moves. The fact that multiple buttons give you +7 on drive rush or punish counter, and nothing but jabs to use it with makes his punish game rely on using 5HP. And unless close ranged, 5HP cant be canceled and easily punished/predictable. Mix this with most of those moves spacing him out of range for jabs…steps in the right direction but he needs way more.

Ed is strong, I can testify that. His normals are broken. You cannot play the neutral game against Ed. It is worst than Dhalsim.

I mean it does make sense. Cammy and Ed are on the higher end of mid tier and Marisa is on the lower end.
@@MyRedQueen0 Cammy has cmk drc, a divekick, multiple ways to side swap, her level 1 from midscreen is almost an automatic corner with 10f adv in throw range, her hp tc builds a shit ton of super meter, walkspeed, normals, nvm her added defense with both od reversal and dk.

@@Yeet-ing yes because every character above her does everything you listed just as good or better. She's much weaker against fireballs now, has no overhead normals, average DR speed. She also suffers from the universal changes that hit her the hardest. More light scaling, less throw oki etc. Her purpose as a anti fireball strike throw character was directly nerfed while every top tier can do that better and more. She's a solid top 11-13 now.
Day 1 Manon here. She's weak but so fun.

It is making her a little bit more inconsistent. But I do think she is still s tier too. Maybe slightly lower than before, but still s tier. You really cannot afford afford mess up against her when she has SA3 on deck. That shit reaches full screen

Guile still controls the pace of the match, his burnout state isn't really bad for him either.
Way too many in S tier ; whats the point of s+ S and A when you just stack s tier. S tier means they have very very few counter character matchups
There aren't many versions of fighting games that are more balanced than SF6 is right now.
i feel like Rashid was top 3 by the end of season 1, with Luke and Blanka. he was barely touched, even buffed, and is far and away #1 right now. Guile, idk he's top in a vacuum, but the results don't even come close to representing the claim that he's even top 10 in 6
Guile is definitely not top 5 but he's in top 10. I main Guile floating around 1600. Jp and Marisa at 1700 or above is almost decided before a boom gets thrown. They walk all over him. Chun li destroys him in neutral and she gets in easily. Even Zangief MU is 50/50 now, its mega concentration to keep him out. Alot of people think boom and flask kick gameplan is easy, as soon as you hit high level players they get round it with ease. Guile is definitely strong but he's way over hyped by lots of players who never used him.

@@riansillett2771 If you look at CatCammy's stats for 1900+MR, Zangief is actually Guile's worst MU by a significant margin and one of the most lopsided MUs in the entire game.
i think cammy/deejay/blanka/jp are all still stronger than aki. i think aki is a bit overrated just cause she got a ton of buffs. she was always decent but honestly Lily is honestly better than her, AKI doesn't have a good matchup chart against most of the cast.
Lily is massively underrated. i didn't believe in Lily either until i started to realize her defense isn't trash. her cr.hp anti air literally beats cross up jumps. she essentially has the best grounded normal anti air in the game ever since JP's got nerfed.
Her level 1 is buffed massively and her level 2 can be used instantly in the air. Lily has positive matchup charts against zangief/cammy/juri. She is not bad at all. people are looking at numbers on buffs instead of matchup charts. lily seemingly got nerfs and not too many buffs. but she's been slept on for awhile. the universal jab change would seem to hurt lily but she actually got a lot more damaging combos and conversions from the buffs. putting zangief above lily is honestly a mistake. he is massively overrated at this point because people want him nerfed. lily has insane matchup spread is and honestly debatably top tier.
and people are starting to realize the deejay changes aren't killing the character. he was broken top 2 before. now he's just solid. he still has insane damage and new combos to replace his old ones that were scrapped. people hated the changes to his combo structure initially but he is still very strong. same with blanka. there's no chance in hell blanka isn't still top 5 despite his nerfs.
i thought akuma was top 1 strongest at first glance. the ken propaganda got to me claiming he was the weakest shoto. However again, a couple weeks pass and ken is easily deemed the best shoto. Ken simply has better neutral and better range. Jinrai + dragonlash are amazing neutral skips. and Ryu is honestly still the worst shoto despite all his buffs. But he's solid. Probably S-A tier. all the shotos are pretty good currently
zangief being so high is an overrated take that needs to be shut down. He built less meter than everyone else pre patch and now its fixed to be normal. he isn't that good. he has worst neutral than lily/manon both. and loses those matchups as well
I wouldn’t take your player experience on ranked too much into account. Especially against your good matchups for a tier list. Jamie I heard is much better than before. And Ed is deemed top 5-10 by many pro players. Above aki
But this is all just tier lists and opinions. At the end of the day and everyone doesn’t really agree. Most of the characters are pretty good and able to win.
Im a ryu main and this is the first time ive seen anybody ever put him in th3 same tier as ken 😄
It is good to see him up so high, but i honestly still think that he is A tier AT BEST (according to this tier list style!). If this were a regular tier list i would put him at B+ or A- tier. The reason being that he requires a lot more attention to pilot. He cannot just mindlessly throw things out like ken and akuma can. Ryu has a slower walk speed than both rivaling shotos and worse frame data and hitboxes. He's supposed to make up for this by being able to do simple combos for high damage, but his neutral game is still just a little worse than his peers. It really depends on who is using him.
personally i think there is a legit debate to be had that hes the top shoto now. Im not saying he IS, but i do think their is a valid argument for it for sure. Def the trickiest shoto to play against imo. But ppls playstyles seem to vary alot more with ryu, as opposed to Ken and Akuma wjere it feels like 90% of ppl play them the exact same way
Congratulations on getting your comment featured in the most recent video! I agree by the way, I saw a chart that, if real, indicates that in master rank and above Ryu is the bottom one worst character in the game with very little contest. It could just be that at that rank people tend to play the other shotos, and I'm not sure what it means exactly, but to me that alone indicates he cannot be as high as the others. Not sure on his tournament results, but like you said, he has to play a much more deliberate and harder playstyle than the other shotos. In my opinion, if you aren't watching your opponent and responding with Ryu, you aren't gonna do much, I find most of my damage comes from punishing mistakes. He can't flowchart you in the same way as the others imo.
AKI uprising
Dhalsim is part of the two most unbalanced matchups in the game, but on opposite sides. He still super strong vs Gief (despite his buffs), but gets absolutely wrecked by Rashid.
Sorry, but Ryu is way better than he was, but he is still worst than Ken, Akuma or Luke.

Akuma is 100% s tier without a shadow of a doubt it cant even be debated or downplayed
I believe the reason people can't agree if Akuma is s tier or not is because he doesn't have the same pressure that ryu or ken has. Ryu has frame traps like hashogeki and high drive gauge damage while Ken has jinrai and dragon lash and has an easy time getting you to the corner.
Akuma does have a lot of moves that are plus on block but, this is just my personal opinion, I think it's capcom's way of masking his lack of pressure. His plus frames ARE his pressure. And in a game like sf6 where anybody can perfect parry, get plus frames off of drive rush or do drive reversal it isn't just as powerful anymore. Couple that with his lower than average life points and its almost as if his life points are the deal breaker for some players.
I forgot that Akuma does have adamant flame, but I never hear about it being compared to hashogeki so idk. That part pf the discussion might be voided
@@itsmesteve1081 i totally agree with this assessment. Ryu is much tricker to face imo. Sure if Akuma touches you he can do some good damage, but his pressure isnt great, alot of his normals are actually stubby, and hes more propped up by the sheer number of special moves and stuff he has, which is much easier to get the hang of playing against than a tricky neutral game and good normals. Other than his c.Mk, and obviously jab, i dont think his normals are hard to deal with at all compared to Ryu. I cant decide who i think is better between Akuma and Ken, but im leaning towards Ken. Akuma is just much easier to face out of the shotos imo. Also his mixup game isnt that great, which is a pretty big factor in this game
@@itsmesteve1081completely disagree. Plus frames on block is the most OP thing about this game. If I block any move I should be able to punish. It makes blocking irrelevant. Perfect parry is random, you can’t rely on it, and with cheap throws being powerful as well, along with his walk speed, Akuma is OP

This. Rashid was always this good, he just happened win 2 tournaments in a row and people are seing his strength. Same happened when Mena won Kumite, suddenly Blanka was top 3, as if Mena wasn't the most important factor.
Otoh I struggle to see Guile up there. He's consistently doing mid in Master rank and is actually bottom 2 in 1700+ MR as per CatCammy's statistics. Also no relevant Guile tournament W's. Probably I'm wrong but I don't see why so many people rank him so high.
Maybe you are right. Point is a character like Rashid was top 5/6, the other 5 or 6 characters around him got weaker, making him advance to a higher status among the roster. This can also happen the other way where a character get buffed but the weaker characters get buffed more and they end up being in a worst spot overall.

dee jay def not top 5 his damage is gutted and he actually takes a brain to play now
Dhalsim is C tier. You mentioned that Geif has great dmg but his def keeps him in check. Well no one has worse def than Dhalsim. He is the only character in the game without a reversable lvl 1. The universal tools all go against what he needs to do to keep people out. All of his buttons are either stubby and unreliable or 12 frames and up. His standing LK is 9f startup... like wtf is that? He gets knocked down once and he is immediately guessing for his life. This is his biggest problem, is not having a button to combat the crouching mediums of all the other characters. Characters are going full screen in 1s and he is trying to combat that with 12f, 15f, and even 17f buttons. Stopping drive rush with dhalsim at half screen distance is damn near impossible when you add in onlince latency and all that. There are also some trades that he loses online that he wins offline. For example Sims teleport into HP, the opponent can simply jab it, but the jab loses 95% of the time and can occasionally will trade offline. You have to play him in order to understand. Dont just base it on how you do against him. I have been playing him since launch so I know what im talking about, and the fact that all the pro players are dropping him should be a good indicator of that.
Also, I forgot to mention, Dhalsim must have a BBL under his robe because his yoga float gets clipped by everything that goes under it. Blanka ball, Honda headbutt, Cammy drill, and all kinds of other shit. Im kinda tired of people saying he is mid tier and putting him in tiers with better overall characters. He is just bad. Like really, who is playing Dhalsim anymore? He is literally the only character that has been underrepresented since launch. There are like 2 dhalsim players in the world to learn from.
His teleport frustrates the hell outta me. One-third of the time he reappears facing the wrong direction.
@jwill7998 100%. They claimed to fix that but it's been happening to me since launch. I'd say it happens to me 1 of 5 times. I haven't lost because of it, but I have lost advantage or gotten cornered because of it.

They need to fix the teleport (really fix it, this time) and make his teleport a reversal so being cornered isn't a death sentence.

Dhalsim is easily the worst character in the game when you look at his match up spread.

The only placement I strongly disagree with is Cammy. I think she's easily S tier. She has all the tools needed to succeed in this game and has very few bad matchups.
Fair enough but i personally am not that convinced on Cammy yet. She is very good and strong obviously but i do think there is a reason that its only Punk doing well with her and to be totally honest, even Punk isn't winning events as much as he used to.
I think the nerfs to OD spin kunckle is impactful enough to reduce her advantage vs fireball characters. Her neutral is obviously strong but I think is still fair all things considered.
Saying that Ryu is better than JP and DEEJAY of all characters is one hell of a sin.
Chun Li is actually an awful matchup for Cammy. So is Ryu

Guile at s+ is a bit much he dies in the corner he is susceptible to drive impact and shimmy his anti airs are very hard to use and JP still kills him. Ryu is better than guile
After Lily won a major, I dicided to not take these tier lists seriously
Hibiki one a Japan world warrior with her last year, which is with all due respect way harder than the recent major win. Snakeeyez won a CPT qualifier event as well at a time when everyone said he was bottom 1.
B tier doesn't mean she can never win, the game is fairly decently balanced all things considered but some are obviously still better than others
