While you make a good broad point, I think there are 2 critical points for Apple. 1. It is funny that the moment Apple stops innovating, Apple fans assume the entire category is done innovating. It's like they give up rather than entertain the idea that the company they support simply isn't leading the charge anymore. There's PLENTY of variety among laptops in the PC world, a handful of form factor innovators, countless mods to make in storage, and ultimately 4k OLED laptops w/ a high level GPU are still not within an attainable price range for most. Until a laptop fully replaces a desktop GPU, there will be huge gains to be made. Apple fans just pretend like we're already there. We aren't. This will be leading to more progress being bountiful for the regular consumer who won't splurge on a 4,000 dollar Lenovo. And no, these aren't for niche use cases, there's plenty of reason to not settle for minor M2 vs M3 upgrades w/ costly storage beyond reason with Apple. 2. The problem isn't reviewers, it's Apple's marketing of the Iphone. Apple will falloff if consumers accept this lack of progress. Reviewers play to both sides. They accept that iphone reviewers are highly sought after and Apple is an admirable company, yet blame the viewer for being excited and expecting more. The reality is if viewers do make this shift in expectation, Apple will suffer. Dramatically. I suspect we see that soon, as Apple has been running on Steve Jobs-era good-will for too many years now. All the reviewers who are annoyed at negative Apple comments will soon miss this era, as iphone videos in general won't pull the same views when lower innovation if fully accepted. Ironically, I think the iphone sales will start to drop dramatically these next 5 generations, to a level that Apple will finally innovate. But not by choice, by necessity.
The laptop innovations you mention aren’t exactly anything substantial. Yes the storage and hardware nuances are questionable decisions across the industry, but laptops on a battery are inherently not going to perform at the levels of Desktop hardware. A power supply draws way more voltage than a battery does. Just the difference in levels of heat generated alone sorta reflect this. 4k OLED laptops are a 4k likely 120hz screen. Terabyte storage, Big battery, proprietary high end chip set, and in a compact somewhat durable package AND streamline designed to run off of substantially less output from a battery. They are all laptops. Some lack minor things. Others have some little niche feature that goes unsung. I only say this because, I feel nobody is leading the industry in laptops. “Better in a hardware department is not exactly innovation unless it multiple times better AND this upgrade serves an actual purpose PEOPLE WOULD NOTICE. Im just saying this because Apple isnt going anywhere. Samsung galaxies frustrate me at this point. Google never did anything that caught my attention. I just upgraded from the 12 Pro Max after 4 years and am very happy with my new 16 Pro Max. The people complaining are weak and don't have enough willpower to not get a new iPhone every 1-2 years. That's their fault, not Apple's.
Tech is almost peaked. I still rock a MacBook Air m1 that runs butter smooth still. And I still rock a iPhone 13pro and that phone still runs butter smooth.
7:50 i cannot tell you how much hard it was losing the touchbar after it being part of my daily life for over 6 years - every day there's a moment where i go to reach for it, only to hit a function key don't get me wrong, having physical function keys is useful, and better for a lot of things - but there were many things the touchbar made faster and easier, even if under-utilised
I like to stay realistic when I think about upgrading and the 12 pro I had honestly is perfect and is just enough for what I need. I only upgraded to the 16 pro because my 12 pro battery degraded below 80% and was noticably slowing down, and the screen was showing signs of burn in. the biggest things I noticed right off the bat were the better battery life, wayyyy smoother and brighter screen, its a lot snappier and faster, and the custom button and camera button are good for convenience. Also its type C and I can use all my chargers with it. the phone feels more refined and thats what I wanted and I made the conscious choice to skip a few gens so they could refine the design and software, I never upgrade incrementally bc I see it as a waste of money. The changes over the course of a few generations definitely make life easier when added up to this one so it was a huge deal in my eyes to upgrade. In this case I had the choice to replace the screen and battery on the 12 pro for a large price that would probably cost more than the used sale price of the phone, or upgrade to a newer phone for a lower upfront cost, so I chose the upgrade route. The phone overall feels like a refinement or update more than a huge change
Similar to Cars, My current Porsche Carrera GT bears a striking resemblance to my initial 911 model from 1983, both in terms of its exterior design. However, the driving experience is entirely distinct, offering a vastly different and exhilarating journey. .
That's why I'm into foldables as a techie. They're getting noticeably better with every generation (the jump from my Fold 4 to my current Honor Main V3 is so huge)
Thanks for the review. Are you able to compare the 3x optical zoom of the 15P with the "Zoom to Crop" equivalent of the 16P and give an indication of how they compare? I like the 5x optical zoom idea on the 16P but did quite like the 75-85mm focal length range (around 3x). I had a question how much quality degradation there is on the 3x photos without pixel peeping.
Personally, I do not think the analogy of touchbar on Mac is accurate because when we got the touchbar, Apple took the function keys away from us. It’s a direct replacement. However, camera control is an addition. Like you said yourself in the video, you would rather to have the camera control than without it because it does not take anything away from the previous iPhone 15 pro. A better analogy can be having a great camera on an iPad Pro. It is nice to have a great camera, but seriously who is going to use iPad to take photos? You either prioritize convenience (using an iPhone) or quality (an actual DSLR).
Maybe it’s just me and my crappy headphones. The new audio mixing on the 16 series sounds terrible, compared to standard mixing. Audio sounds muffled. This isn’t the only review I’ve noticed it on.
You can tear it down to know the frequencies it works. Looks don’t make everything and I think that is one aspect completely and absolutely overlooked.
For the photographic styles - I guess it’s just a software feature which could be easily implemented with the older models but well… usual Apple thing 🤷♂️ isn’t it?
I get what you’re saying with the laptop analogy but the consumer expectations and use cases are different. With a laptop, the processor is a major reason why you would buy or not buy a device, especially if you’re a professional. Laptops are more work devices and less consumption devices. A phone is strictly a consumption device for 99% of people. The processor is almost irrelevant as long as the phone works well for general use. I do agree that people should accept that the major leaps in smartphones are, for the time being, over and just upgrade when necessary
I'm wondering did they improve connection to the monitor and using it as desktop computer 🤔 There was a couple of issues in IPhone 15 like for example vertical main screen even if phone itself is laying horizontally.
The hottest phone I ever used was the Nokia Lumia 925. No idea why that thing got so hot... Specially when I charged it and played games at the same time...

the phone feels more refined and thats what I wanted and I made the conscious choice to skip a few gens so they could refine the design and software, I never upgrade incrementally bc I see it as a waste of money.
Should I trade in from regular 14 Pro with 87% bh from February 2023 to 16 Pro Max or wait for the 17 Pro Max?
Great review!
Similar to Cars, My current Porsche Carrera GT bears a striking resemblance to my initial 911 model from 1983, both in terms of its exterior design. However, the driving experience is entirely distinct, offering a vastly different and exhilarating journey. .
In what world does a carrera GT look similar to a classic 911 lmao
Nice review :) keep at it
Did you notice any signal issues or slow data speeds?
Can you do a data speed test comparing 15 pro?
16 pro seems to be on the sweet spot , yes phones should be reviewed as experienced not specs solely . I call them specs droid boys .
You either prioritize convenience (using an iPhone) or quality (an actual DSLR).
brilliant review
Omg the dog matches the carpet I almost didn’t see him haha 😂
16 pro seems to be on the sweet spot
Maybe it’s just me and my crappy headphones. The new audio mixing on the 16 series sounds terrible, compared to standard mixing. Audio sounds muffled. This isn’t the only review I’ve noticed it on.
You can tear it down to know the frequencies it works. Looks don’t make everything and I think that is one aspect completely and absolutely overlooked.
Bro an iphone can t even upload photos if you exit the app… such a frustrating thing, no split screen, nothing
Thanks a lot )
Cool video,
Would you guys recommend buying an iPhone 15 Pro or a standard iPhone 16? they are about the same price where I live.
16 has the new chip and about the same battery , If you don’t mind losing a camera it’s up to you
For the photographic styles - I guess it’s just a software feature which could be easily implemented with the older models but well… usual Apple thing 🤷♂️ isn’t it?
Best review.
The hottest phone I ever used was the Nokia Lumia 925. No idea why that thing got so hot... Specially when I charged it and played games at the same time...
how did you trade in 2 phones? Dont they only allow 1 trade in? 🤯🤯
I’m not sure id call complaints about yearly refresh cycles a “bad take” when there is indeed no realistic change to a device.
I'm using my eadphones on minute 5:10 and I thought they disconnected. Damn
Great review does 120hz drain battery fast compared to 60hz? Because I want to get the 16 pro or 16 plus. I have 2 samsungs
Honestly I thought that thermals section was an ad read because the background changed
A review for normal people
The 16 pro is just too big now, I wish they at least gave an option of a smaller pro model.
Link to the MacBook Wallpaper?
It didn’t fit in your old case because they want you to buy an old case😂
8:37 How does one get that round wheel thingy out?
Apple’s ui is so bad!
What about 24 MP instead of 12 MP from the 48 MP cameras?
You earned a new subscriber! This review is phenomenal; it doesn’t focus on numbers, it focuses on experience. I really liked your battery comparison because I find it really relatable. Same with the Camera Control. It’s just such a wildly different way of reviewing, without all the bluff, I find it much more interesting and useful. Thank you!
@4:46 never used an iPhone 13 Pro Max? That’s what I would call battery life
you can definitely tell the base model 16 from all past iphones tho lol
5:10 Is 4K 30fps better than 4K 60fps?
what's the band you got for your watch??
0:18 I didn’t really know, but now I realize that the M1 MacBook Pro has a Touch Bar while the M2 one does not
My M1 Max doesn’t have a Touch Bar…
Nice Lego collection 👍
