My son went to Sandy hook Sunday. I told him about the epoxy jig from watching your videos. So he bought a bunch before going. He caught 45 cocktail blues and 2 fluke. He called me up so excited had such a good time. Said the epoxy jig was great.😊 😊😊😊
That is awesome! I am siked he was able to make something happen with the epoxy. It's a really versatile lure. Thank you for sharing and watching the channel bigbuck!
Theres so much bait in the bays, its really fun to see the morning blitzes back there. Blues are ripping around like savages. Congrats on that keeper, glad you are getting out and enjoying the fishing
Any tips on increasing hook up ratio when using singles on epoxy jigs specifically tipped with gulp. I am getting lots of hits but the blues often seem to manage to avoid getting hooked preventing me landing them. Usually they tear up the gulp too but that’s to be expected. Do you also experience this sometimes or could it be something I’m doing wrong? Also, the violet gulp is indeed special. I’ve done side by side tests and it seems to outperform from what I can tell.
Yo that violet was a cool find, I got a couple other new colors I found recently but they ain't working like that violet does. Curious how it'll do when the water cools/ clears up. I usually work the bottom if its a gulp trailer so the blues aren't much of an issue but it could be other interference fish giving you problems like porgy. Maybe more of an aggressive snap style popping retrieve if you're working the bottom? I've found alternating retrieve styles to make or break a good bite. For the blues try pulling the gulp off and do a quick straight retrieve to increase the hook up ratio. It might take a couple casts but you'll get a better hook set vs. a jig/pop style retrieve. Really steady sub-surface retrieve.
first off great videos as usual...secondly, did you get a new Reel gold handle?... 3rd, the Hogy epoxy lures are AMAZING although very hard to find silver in inline hook 7/8 .... thanks for sharing your experiences with us all again... tight lines & more more more
Hey what's up! I got a few slammer reels, usually start switching to them as the fall gets going. Did you try the Hogy site? Its a popular color so it does sell out often. I wouldn't sleep on Pink, Albie crack, bone, shrimp, olive, green, they all work real well and sometimes will out fish silver in certain scenarios. Olive is incredible for striped bass. Or the Kastmaster will work just as well
Great question 4sizle. It does less damage to the fish and I prefer the hook set/ overall fight on single vs. treble. Takes a little getting used to but I prefer them and stopped using trebles a few years back.
I think i know why the violet color is doing well. I caught a bunch of big Broad Striped Anchovy and they have this nice violet shine on their backs so it's probably imitating them
Oh yeah that irridescent glow the bait fish have. Peanut bunker, herring. Purples an underrated color, it always catches day and night. Good eye Fishpunch, hope you are out catching them up bud
@@BobAquatic I have some purple micro plastics that I use around the docks. I've caught small weakfish, snappers, kingfish, searobins, Seabass, and recently a Snowy grouper
I switched the treble for a single hook. There is a lure attached to the hook, sorry I am a little confused by your question if you can clarify better. Thank you for watching
@@3601christopher I was bouncing bottom looking for fluke or anything else and wanted to add some scent to the hook. Fluke love gulp and the grub adds a little extra action

Thank you Bori! Cheers bud
Way to go Bob alot more bass to come on the hogy bays are filling with bait got a nice keeper last night on a rubber tail swim bait

Stipers I am familiar with. tasty!
They are a cool fish for sure
Thanks for sharing Bob. As always, love the videos. Do you ever go for net fishing? Also, what's the furthest you traveled for a single trip video?
Thank you for watching! Not really with the net fishing unless I got the live well option. For a video , tough question maybe 30 miles? Not too far
Where is the location
Really loved watching your vids with my son. would like to know location for this vid.
Thank you for watching the channel!
Opal Crest
Great video Bob which Korkers are you using? Please and thank you
Thank you for watching! They are the boot style ones that have the interchangeable soles. The soles in this video are carbide spike
Ever try the jetty at night for bass or is it too early still?
You could give it a try! Waters still pretty warm but the bass are in the city year round

is that Brooklyn? What do you think are the best striped bass lures to use on a surf rod that is a medium heavy
Bucktail jigs, paddle tails, jerk shads, kastmasters, epoxy jigs, and the spook for topwater
In your opinion what bait is best for striped bass? Or lure does not matter.
It'll always be matching whatever the forage is. Gotta change it up depending on what the fish want and are focused on. The Buck tail jig
@@BobAquatic thanks bob
@@BobAquaticCould you share the bucktail jig link? How much weight do I need to use for the party boat? They use 6oz sinkers
Why replace the treble w the single hook?
Better hook up ratio and less chance to have the fish spit the hook. I've switched out almost everything for inline singles

What state is this in?
Yeah fr, I can't place it
New York

Hey, I see your epoxy jig doesn’t have a treble hook, did you replace it? I also see you sometimes put a lure on the hook and sometimes you don’t
