The 400ex have valve cover cam cover into 1 unit with 4 inspection caps. Once you remove the cap screw thread then you did see thru the hole. In the hole is the valve adjustment nut with the rocker arm stud. The rocker arm stud has the slotted on the top for screwdriver adjusting the valve. The bottom of the stud is a rounding face and it touch the valve stem. The rounding face is about 1 foot radius to 3 foot radius. The rocker arm have two nuts for each rocker arm tip stud except the Honda motorcycle that uses just one nut type 2. The middle rocker arm main stud goes with the upper half circle under the hex lock nut. The end of the rocker arm has a smaller stud for the adjustment.
Type 2 is tighter fitting together of stud and nut. Type 1 is more loose fitting together of hex nut and bolt.
The engine could have been swap to the 2000 ad trim of fenders and gas tank and seat as an improvement overall to make NightHawk more modern than ATV 400ex. Let the Nighthawk have 400cc instead of 450cc because Nighthawk have automatic tranny. The Hawk tranny have 6 gears for the Nighthawk speedy 7 gears is an upgrade choice the selection of the CR 450cc. The invention of the lobe cam that push the valve into open, finally the valve spring with lock keys retainer closes the valve. But the invention is more modern in the USA building the valve spring is gone so that the cam lobe closes the valve. The seal of the valve seat would be draw with draft paper to allow the hydraulic lifter to be add to my invention of the seesaw rocker arm. The Ducati motor have the idea similar to my invention. I didn't know anything about the Ducati so it is invention by my own idea because I did not copy-cat the Ducati Desmodromic Valve-spring free system of the cylinder head like my design on my papers 16 inch by 12in. that I drew a piston and the two-stroke crankcase and 1/2 cutaway jug example view of the air-cool and the fin should add the cylinder that it way it cools off of the 375cc from it. The drawing show the 4 inch bore x 3.75in. which is still a true 770cc one cylinder motor bike but no frame. Frame is where the motor mounts on it.
The piston rod is 6.5 inches that I drew it for draft. But usually, I could pick all aluminum silicon forge piston rod from the Honda Dealer in San Pablo Boulevard. For a price on the 5 inch piston rod. In 1999 ad, the hole at the bottom that I drew it. The hole is more modern now, for the rod journal was 1.6 to 1.7 inch Outside diameter but the available in stock is the Honda 1.438"
The 500 four sports motorcycle that I have seen it in northern California. The 750cc four cylinders was available for two tailpipes on both sides or one side tail pipe choices. The 4 into one collector 2 1/2 inch hole exhaust chromy chrome.
500cc four cylinder Honda motor for snowmobiole or ATV is hard to find 500cc four.
In 1998, the carburetor is connect to the crankshaft case for 2 stroke type that I drew it; is perfect design. The carburetor is connect to the 400 twin Yamaha cylinder is their design in Japan of the type two-stroke. The why the carburetor must be likely to connect to the crankshaft below the cylinder. where the carburetor show at behind the cylinder. The two in one crankshaft that one for piston reciprocating and one for blower. The blower sucks in the air fuel mixture from the carburetor. The flow of air fuel mixture along with counter-clockwise crankshaft in the view where one sees the right side of the engine. There the mixture coming out through the elbow pipe place on the crankshaft case in front of the cylinder. The elbow intake runner helps the flow fuel air mixture back to the cylinder - Plain tipo two-stroke.

When seating new rings best is to let idle until its up to operating temp. Then ride it hard in like 3rd gear slowly accelerating from the bottom of the gear up to the top. Then let off the throttle and let the compression force the rings to seat. Do this several times bringing it up to top speed in 3rd then letting it decelerate to the bottom of the gear. I used to do this on semi’s too it always worked great

The 400ex motor for it is OHC chain driven for worth 24 HP. For 400cc equals 24.4 CID.
The Hawk is OHC 400cc that has timing chain in between right side cylinder and left side cylinder.
The 400ex have the pipe hole diameter 5mm for oil pump pumping the motor oil up to the valve cover interior with the oil filter and the body and oil filter cover was attached to the lower crankshaft together so oil pump is on the right side of the engine into pressurize it up 40 PSI. The left side of the engine is the magneto drum with stator that I did replaced the alternator with the resistance 1000 Ohms for a circuit per pair of circuits. The 5th wire from the stator 8 coils is for magnetic pole. When the drum with its magnet coming closer to the magnetic pole that way it energize the ignition coil. Still the drum rotates - meaning the magnet came away from the magnetic pole - immediately, it fires the spark plug.
The oil capacity must be small for the oil pump to work efficiency. There two oil fill holes.
The oil inside the drum alternator can be separated away from the capacity of oil pump in right side.
The oil pump comes off from the grease shortening pump that no longer use for vax cleaning recirculation the hot oil.
The brand is Oil pump that have no brand but it is has model number or part number.
The Honda Hawk have the components so the stator is in the right side of the engine.

The CR means CAFE Racer. But try this designation DB500AF with the 52 mm stroke so that there is room for 6 speed tranny in the dual case of common one piece body of lower engine. The dual means two component sets: one set is the internal of tranny and the second part is the crankshaft housing at the front of the complete aluminum case. Another word for housing is called main bearings includes rod bearings. The cam gear fix to the letter D shaft and then draft show the lob shaft is connect to the letter D shaft. As we work on the OHV where it is an extra 170cc that I never use it but now it's new I have bought it for 2022 high performance just like your Honda and my Hawk. The Hawk is bigger called 230cc up to 240cc max.
The valve seal is also called oil ring seal with diameter rubber hole 4mm x 24mm O.D. Rotax is made in China and we, the Chicago Gas Pneumatic Motorcycle will call the Stamping room for it to complete the making of valve stem's ring seal. I have to buy a pair of delivery and packing the need from Rato Air Cooled Engine company.

Recently got a Honda 300ex because watching your videos I’ve become a Honda guy got rid of my Yamaha thought it just needed a carb clean I’ve bypassed the reverse safety switch and cleaned the carb but it’s slow to rev out or it won’t rev out at all like it’s hitting the limiter but then it will rev out after playing with the throttle and smokes a bit think it’s running rich any ideas ?

damn i wish you could try a trx300ex with a big bore 330kit those are 100$ i wanna try that on my adly 300 (same as the honda trx30ex) but also its my main quad so i dont wanna take it appart... and its hard to find anything about those kits... one guy on a french forum but like he just said he installed it had to shave some part of the engine to fit it and it ran great but no news after a year...
im debating on doing a high compression piston or try the cheap big bore kit (same price just more work to install the big bore kit) i wanna boost a bit my adly 300 it runs great but a bit more dont hurt and no clue how many km the piston has

Hey Joe...I the past few weeks I've been on the search for a 400ex and started to watch youtube videos about them and your videos came up quite often. I got hooked on them and now I'm a subscriber of yours... As I started watching more I figured out by the video of you picking up the 250r in green Bay that you must be relatively close to me, I live in Fond du lac, my name is Brian. You wouldn't by chance know of a nice 400ex for sale would you? Would like to talk to you about it if possible. Thanks...

wrong... cheap Chinese stuff falls apart and is junk. you NEVER PUT cheap parts inside a engine unless you want to destroy it on purpose

I used the caltric mechanical seal, tie rods, and sprocket. Zero issues and tbh since my quad is an 86 lt250r this Chinese shit is probably better than oem as far as small minor parts I kid you not. So far its fine and I can't forsee any problems my coolant system doesn't leak from the weep hole metal isn't super soft or hard an brittle. Some shit can be cheap but ngl caltric is the cheapest ill go. It's all Chinese i kno but caltric comes in pretty clutch if your penny pinching just don't buy anything major.
