@Celena Chandler the video is wrong about calls but also it’s not true about never sending links to click. On March 23rd I got a call mid order about how the person doing the order used a stolen credit card. The call came from a known DoorDash support number. Yeah.. Population control does a decent job at it. Weeds out the idiots. Good thing there is a massive population control going on right now across the globe. Give it few years.
1. The scammers sound Indian, Doordash uses Indian callcenters so the driver definitely is convinced they are support. 2. People are called usually right after using the Doordash app. How do the scammers get access to Doordash numbers? Does Doordash even know how employee and customer data is being handled in their foreign call centres?
There's so many scam centers in India. There's some awesome YTs that actively work to get them shut down and I'm here for it. I forgot the names of the channels but a Google search should pull them up. I love watching the scammers realize they've been reverse uno'd lol
DoorDash uses Philly (Philippians) call center, never once talked to anybody in India. The scammer places an order on doordash like normal, a driver accepts and is dispatched. Now the "customer" has a text/call option in their app to get ahold of the driver. They use the "call" option and spoof doordash customer support number. Scam ensues. As always, the key here is them asking for username/password, wanting you to use their scam link to sign in(log inputs), etc etc etc. It should be painfully obvious it is a scam when any institution of any kind asks you for username/password ssn etc, but clearly it is not.
Pandemic heroes. Hopefully they get more benefits. They truly deserve it. THANKYOUUUU delivery drivers for helping the needy and elderly disabled! You’re a life savers
The guy got scammed got advice from a more advanced driver but the more advanced driver was still giving him inaccurate information not only does doordash call their drivers but in certain situations they'll even ask why you're late why you haven't picked up an item or why there was items that were missing. As well if you had an incident that you've reported and it needed someone higher up you will definitely get called back
Yup. Correct. They just called me for one of the first times two nights ago. I had an issue at a restaurant not seeing the order or something like that.
I used to dash. Did that for 2 years into the pandemic and I will tell you, scammers tried over 8 times the same scam. It’s something that is going on for a while. One time I had the scammer mad at me, he said he would make 16k a month doing this while I was making 4K. Mocking me.
I stopped using doordash, I had a big family order which was $70 and the driver lied and said he dropped it off but I was sitting in front of my house the whole time.
I immediately assumed DoorDash was going to screw him over. I really was shocked DoorDash gave Andrew his money back right from the beginning without getting pressured to do so. Most of these companies only give people back their money only after being asked by the media. They don't want the bad press.
Disagree! Companies are taking the losses all of the time. You’re only hearing half of the story here. The other side of the story never makes the news.
100%. It's DD doing the actual scamming too, inside job. Most people never get their money back, goes right to the scammer aka back to DD. DD knows when to pull this on people too as they have access to how much money you currently have in your account. These "scammers" Ain't targeting people with $20. Inside job.
I've been driving for about 4 months now. Doordash does seem to support the workers pretty well. If you go to pick up an order and the customer cancels, they still pay you half the fare. But it is a foreign call center with Indian reps which are a little difficult to understand sometimes. A couple of times they even gave me $5 just for the trouble. However the tips are what makes them worthwhile so tip your drivers people. Especially if it's a long drive. No one wants to make $2 for picking up your Chipotle and then driving 5 miles to drop it off. Happened to me yesterday.
Then choose a different job, you have to be great full you got tipped, we aren't even obligated to tip you guys yet we do it anyway and you complain about a 2$ tip? I suggest a different job then my man
@@Alorajones19 no I tip I'm just saying like wat if someone doesn't have anything to eat and no car and they only have money for the food and not a tip? I'm just saying you never know what people go through

@@90gdv Good calculations, but 26,000 miles a year can add up to a lot of vehicle expenses. 35 mpg is a vast overestimation - cars get bad gas mileage when they have to stop and start a lot, and they also break down more often. Every year, he'll need at least five oil changes; he'll probably need front and rear pads and rotors; maybe new tires; he'll need to change tranny fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and flush coolant (or deal with bigger repairs); plus the 10,000 mechanical failures that can occur with hard driving. Comprehensive insurance adds $100/month or so, or else deal with the potential cost of replacing the car, if he makes a mistake, or gets unlucky. With that kind of driving, he'll be lucky if his car lasts five years, so figure in the cost of a new car every five years, and if he buys a used car, figure in a bunch of repairs, and buying a used car is a crap shoot. The IRS mileage number is not necessarily a generous estimate of how much it costs to run a motor vehicle. Roughly $15,600 in vehicle expenses a year is quite possible, which means he'll get $35,000/year for working 60-70 hours/week. That's about $11.20/hour, not including the hours he spends dealing with mechanical issues, etc.
Yeah but how is that your fault? Restaurants mess up orders a lot. The function of you as a delivery person is not for you to open bags to check stuff inside. As a customer I wouldn't want you doing that to my food either. If you work for doordash thank you for what you do!
@@chicorote2.064 They didn’t say it was my fault they were just letting know what happened, and I asked them how could we fix this for the customer. 100% the restaurant’s fault. I don’t ever look in the bags to confirm what’s inside. I asked if this was everything they said yes. I always ask if this is everything, and if there is ever a straw in the bag if they’re drinks involved. And more times than not. I’ll grab extra.
DoorDash does not call you to tell you an order was canceled and they don’t send you a link to get paid you automatically receive half pay for that order.
I see a lot of comments saying how does he make $1100 a week lol. My wife and I quit our full time jobs back in 2020 to drive for doordash full time and make $1200 - $1500 a week🤷🏽♂️ sometimes we drive 5 days sometimes 6 days. $250 a day each driving 8 to 10 hours. $12,000 per month or sometimes $10,000 just be sure to keep track of mileage and expenses and pay your taxes.
Facts I did the same thing in it's well worth it.Doordash definitely isn't for everyone, you have to be a boss and have a set schedule and be self disciplined.(not exactly a set schedule but a consistent one.
Doordash WILL call you, on the customer behalf. Just to check and see how long will it take you to complete the order. But I'm also familiar with the scammers order too. They usually will order something less than a dollar
wow i am super impressed that they gave him the money he worked for, out of their pocket, its really easy for companies just to be like "sorry there is nothing we can do, you are on your own"

It just happened to me last week actually. I didn't get scammed because I noticed the bad signs but they tried. It's what made me click the article so urgently.
I mean it's easy to sit and see people who get scammed by things alot of us think are easy to spot. But for some they don't understand tech and things like most of us do. I feel bad for them.
Let’s add Instacart in this as well customers order groceries and take their tip back after grocery order is delivered and instacart do nothing about it.
This happens all the time as an Uber driver. I just laugh when the people call me because they have to pay for a cancellation fee when I show up. It’s clearly someone trying to drain your account.
That guy is VERY Lucky, not many businesses would payout money to someone who got scammed. If that happened every time someone got scammed these businesses would be at a loss.
As a dasher I'm just going to say the statement of "doordash will never call you" is extremely false I've had doordash call me 3 times with information related to my deliverys and one was about a canceled order
You gotta factor in 500 worth of gas and wear and tear on your car then 12 hours a day. you break it down its probably $16 an hour then you gotta get taxed.
This happened to me inside a restaurant in Sacramento California. The scammers called the restaurant themselves and canceled the orders.then the restaurant gave us a number for “doordash” then they gained access and cleaned out our accounts. There were a number of people there
Can I also ask you. Super curious. I live in Delaware. The by hour thing says 14 an hour here. I was wondering in places where stuff is way way more expensive around here. Like if I went up to new York when I am already going up there for an event so I'm not spending a dollar extra on gas or tolls the trip up or back so it's all profit after gas during door dash trips. If I would make more than usual in Delaware. What does it say for per hour in your area??
@@cclaudio8069 how would he know he doesn't live in New York or Delaware he just said socal aka California. No it doesn't balance out especially after gas why you think people getting scammed robbed or killed for money everyday in killer California it's dog eat dog out this way. Yeah only ppl who got dough fr to be blowing spend money on DD everything is too expensive already.
$1100 a week driving your own car, paying for your own gas, working 10 hours a day is BS I'd never do it that is like making $8.00 per hour after you pay for your gas, ware and tare on your car and dealing with people, so not worthed..
I think the reason DD gave his money back was because it was probably an ex-employee that knew door dash vulnerabilities. They probably hope the dasher would not make a big deal about it since they gave him the money back
Why would door dash give the customer the money back because an ex-employee knew their vulnerabilities? That doesn’t even make sense. You seriously think door dash knew who took their money? They gave the money back because they need their drivers to survive. Door dash makes a boat ton of money doing practically nothing. The drivers do all the work. Giving this guy $1100 is a no brainer.
There was no vulnerabilities here, just social engineering or “phishing”. all they are doing is tricking individuals into clicking a link to a website that is identical to the doordash login page, but when credentials are entered an error message pops up and the login credentials are sent to the criminals. From there they just login to the account using a variety of tools to spoof their location and connect another bank account to the doordash account and transfer all the money out. The only way to “fix” this is to teach people how the scam works.
Definitely kinks in Door Dash security. There probably is a bigger breach looming like a personal info leak because people store their credit card number on the app.
Scammers don't need all of that all they need you to do is click the link and they in. The sentences they say in the text are just a way to get you to click the link.
Now, how would a random scammer know that a driver was making a delivery unless they worked for dasher support and had all their info in front of them? They just somehow knew his number, too? It's the same people they hire to deal with calls. Tech support. Investigate those assholes
Yes I was thinking the same thing, how they know the place you going and the person name, its happened to me 4 months ago, I been working for doordash for 6 month now.
DoorDash will call you but they all sound Indian. It’s hard to tell who is the good Indian and who’s the bad Indian. But NEVER click links that are sent to you.
Of course its door dash is fault. They're supposed to hide any phone number from the dashers so there is no way anybody should even be able to call or no if you're a doordasher
I was door dashing about a month ago when I got 3 FaceTime calls and then several texts of “who is this”. It may have been a coincidence but someone had my number. I had texted several customers and I am thinking someone jealous seen my number on their significant others phone.
That was really nice of doordash. It wasn't their mistake but they still took care of their employee. We need more companies that value their employees. I hope people see this and support doordash.
They have to. If they didn't they'd lose their drivers (which they 100% need). I'd argue their drivers are more valuable than customers in a lot of ways.
They should also be addressing another kind of scammer(s). And that’s customers who lie and claim they never received their order, so they get a refund, the food they actually got, and the dasher getting screwed over big time by losing their job. I mean, props to DoorDash I guess for actually making it a whole process to file a claim. That way, no one can “accidentally” claim a non-delivery.
That's exactly what I thought this scam was going to be about. A Customer on another video ordered Door dash at her job,, got the food, and lied to Door dash and claimed she never got the food and asked for a refund. Her Dasher went to her job and confronted her where at first she played dumb and was like,"I didn't claim I never got my food from Door dash. I have no idea what you're talking about!" He even pointed out that a Customer claiming food never arrived could cost a Dasher their job and he has 5 kids. She still denied it. He finally got her to admit the food arrived. So, I also thought this video was going to be about that customer gets refund for food delivered scam.
That was awesome of DD compensating the driver for his losses he was scammed out of. ! These scammers ort to be ashamed of themselves, and get out & WORK like the rest of us to earn their $$...!
Nah it wasn't, they only did that because the news was involved. Happens to people everyday and DD ghosts them. DD are actually the ones pulling the scam.
@@annjoseph540 you're misunderstanding what he saying. That's pretty easy let me simplify it for you! Something that has crossed my mind a time or two also.
They definitely are. Asking for your full name and DOB. They definitely sell my information to their fellow scum in whatever 3rd world country they’re in.
WOW. I’m very surprised DoorDash actually compensated him that $1,090. However, I’m skeptical… Do they compensate every single driver that gets scammed? -Or did they only compensate this man AFTER a news team called them up to say they’re doing a story - and they decided to take the $1,090 hit rather than risk a PR nightmare...? That’s usually what it takes to get even a penny from any company. Can you guess why 99% of companies wouldn’t compensate an employee who got scammed by a 3rd party? B/c any DoorDash employee that sees this story could then fake his account getting scammed the exact same way. And you KNOW people are going to do that. Man we’re all kinda shitty aren’t we 🤔

I worry each time someone orders 1 item from stores. One day, when I drove up to the house, I followed my instincts and didn't drive onto the driveway. Then as I took the picture for 'Leave At Door,' a man drove onto the driveway watching me. I waved at him as I walked past his car, and he waved back. When I drove away, he drove away.😮😮 ??

They have corrupt Cs workers that run this scam... every time it's the same thing...
I thought about what you wrote and it’s true. How would someone get the dashers number, information is begin sold or shared with scam centers.
@@Gymthingz I work in banking most of the time the owner of the account gives it away. They prey on older people a lot
Mocking me.
I’m glad this is a story so other dashers know that this can happen and what to look for. Good job to the journalist, the dasher, and doordash!
I took a shit this morning that piled above the toilets water line. It’s a sign that it’s going to be a great day.
Glad DoorDash came through for him. But people it's 2023. You have to be careful.
I stopped using doordash, I had a big family order which was $70 and the driver lied and said he dropped it off but I was sitting in front of my house the whole time.
Bruhh
I immediately assumed DoorDash was going to screw him over. I really was shocked DoorDash gave Andrew his money back right from the beginning without getting pressured to do so. Most of these companies only give people back their money only after being asked by the media. They don't want the bad press.
I’m shocked also. Maybe because it was on the news
Disagree! Companies are taking the losses all of the time. You’re only hearing half of the story here. The other side of the story never makes the news.
Doordash escalated support lol. As a dasher their support is the worst. I bet it's because he got the news involved.
100%. It's DD doing the actual scamming too, inside job. Most people never get their money back, goes right to the scammer aka back to DD. DD knows when to pull this on people too as they have access to how much money you currently have in your account. These "scammers" Ain't targeting people with $20. Inside job.
Yeah definitely- bad PR will make a business shape up real quick lol
sounds about white LOL. but its also good to get some awareness for drivers.

It's a clip from their Tab broadcast. They cut off part of the intro to the story. No big deal since the story made sense anyway.
500 miles a week?! He's going to spend his paychecks just to maintain/repair his car and gas.
WOW... love to hear that Doordash covered him! Will continue to use them 😊
I have been called by door dash before . To let me know that restaurant didn’t give me a customer’s entire order
I always ask if this is everything, and if there is ever a straw in the bag if they’re drinks involved. And more times than not. I’ll grab extra.
DoorDash does not call you to tell you an order was canceled and they don’t send you a link to get paid you automatically receive half pay for that order.
Yes you are correct
I see a lot of comments saying how does he make $1100 a week lol. My wife and I quit our full time jobs back in 2020 to drive for doordash full time and make $1200 - $1500 a week🤷🏽♂️ sometimes we drive 5 days sometimes 6 days. $250 a day each driving 8 to 10 hours. $12,000 per month or sometimes $10,000 just be sure to keep track of mileage and expenses and pay your taxes.
I can easily make $250 a day six days a week. But I've also been delivering food in this city for over a decade and know every square inch of it:)

Doordash WILL call you, on the customer behalf. Just to check and see how long will it take you to complete the order. But I'm also familiar with the scammers order too. They usually will order something less than a dollar
So nobody’s talking about the phone he got!?

True.
How TF do you make $1100 doing doordash???
Exactly.
it has happened to me too 😔
Scammers don't need all of that all they need you to do is click the link and they in. The sentences they say in the text are just a way to get you to click the link.

It's the person who placed the order ,once you accept it they can see where you're at...once they see you get to the store they call you.
And their calls used to say 'doordash' on dashers caller ID until they recently changed it to not say that.
And when the dasher answers the phone the person then claims to be a doordash agent....

Doordash uses "dummy" numbers. Customers can call but they don't have the drivers real number.
Who do they find out their numbers tho???
I was door dashing about a month ago when I got 3 FaceTime calls and then several texts of “who is this”. It may have been a coincidence but someone had my number. I had texted several customers and I am thinking someone jealous seen my number on their significant others phone.
@ann joseph I think door dash is SUPPOSED to hide dasher's numbers, whether they do that 100% of the time is suspicious
They only have your real number if you call the customer off the app
10hrs/day to make $1100 untaxed ?! Not worth. That’s so much grinding and miles on a car.
