When instead of flying to Boston, if you want to fly Spirit, you're gonna have to fly to Providence or Manchester instead. If you need to be in Boston, you're likely flying Delta or JetBlue.
Some of the flights are cheaper then an Uber to the airport! They do low cost right. Snacks, wifi, bags, and more now come with the Big front seats. The blocked middle seat option is awesome 🤩
Not mentioned in this video is the type of customer Spirit attracts with their discount prices. In terms of clientele, Spirit is the Walmart of the skies.
The price works for many but the consistent upselling for basic charges and inconsistent customer experience (cancelling or changing flights) is a concern
At this point, how is it that people don’t know Spirit’s model and don’t know how to travel smart? I see people check-in damn near six months worth of baggage and get upset when the price is high. The key to a Spirit flight is for those quick flights that don’t require baggage. I never fly Spirit for a trip more than 2 or 3 days or whatever can’t fight in my backpack. The key is to catch the low base price and keep the cost down. Even with an onboard charge for snacks should you choose to buy them, they’re not even that expensive tbh.

SWA is well on its way to destroying itself via activist investor. Open seating is going away and they will begin charging seat assignment fees. I expect bag fees are next. Customers realized what most of us already knew. A-la-carte travel is never worth the hassle. You will fool passengers once with that system, but will not gain a customer base.
All customers are choosing now with the legacy carriers are Basic Economy fares...WHICH ARE A-LA-CARTE! They are just too dumb to realize it at purchase then get mad at the airport when they realize yes, you now have to PAY to select a seat, you have to PAY to check those 3 bags, and yes, you have to PAY b/c none of those things are included in the fare you selected!
People may hate Spirit’s product but if they disappear every other airline will raise their prices… they’re a net positive for consumers on the rest of the industry whether you fly them or not
Southwest only needed to make one change. They did not need to change anything else but one thing and that is their open seating policy. Too many people were getting on Southwest who were not handicap. They were getting on Southwest because they either did not like their seat that they got or they just want to sit in the front. They will get on with a wheelchair and get off without a wheelchair. That’s not right. If anything Southwest should’ve had the handicap people board after A1-A15. Better yet A1-A30.
Southwest has many problems. First, the Elliot Activist Investment Group buying up large shares of Southwest and then forcing it to make these changes. Southwest has always had people cheating the system (needs a wheelchair to get on the plane but walks fine without one once they depart) and it was only a matter of time. But their two major issues are the growing massive debt and an outdated IT software system which needs a major overhaul. Moreover, their latest contracts with FA and pilots is a costly one that is not sustainable. Southwest will most likely overcome their issues but it will be a painful journey.
So all these talk about how poor we are is just an excuse to vote for Trump because Americans are racist inside. In reality, we are super rich and looking to pay more?
Spirit really needs to hone in on the customer service. They need to stop charging for water, but for the consumer looking for cheap flights it’s awesome! I love the cheap flights and keep the big guys from going crazy with prices. I do hope they survive
So basically, jetblue bet on spirit shareholders being dumb af, going head-first into the illusory all cash offer while declining the very real merger deal with frontier LOL. And spirit ceo said it best "it calls into question what the motive is here" I wonder if he was allowed to detail his true thoughts on jetblue motive with the all cash offer, or perhaps he also was unsure and thought maybe the offer could go through...
The budget and low cost carriers adding tiers/classes to their planes just goes to show that income inequality is growing so much, even THEY need to simply accept it as fact. Most of their customers are too poor, and the non-poor customers actually are doing better than ever financially, and you really need to capture that income differential with premium offerings at a premium price. Hey, it is what it is... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What went wrong with Spirit Airlines? Let's start with the quality of their customer base. The majority of them are low income and loud. The kind you'd find etching their initials on the back seat of a city bus.

Yup, flown it 3 times. All flights was horrible do to the type of customers. The last and final flight I had with them we had to get diverted and land in Chicago because one passenger decided to sexually harass a lady in front of him while the plane was getting ready to take off. @@notforgotten3685and you pay less for the same experience.
It exists for people who can’t afford the more expensive airlines. Can’t complain about a Prius if it’s all you can afford.
Can cnbc survive
Well it’s gonna out of business anyway if approved. The new owners will sell it to a new company and no more cheap prices. Thank the government.
Why do customers want points? Points restrict the choice.
I still remember taking the first flight from LAS to MEM in 2022 when they restarted that route. I still use the coffee cup they gave us on arrival.
Spirit is taking a hit, meanwhile Frontier is out here getting away with murder lol
If American airlines or Delta can take me from the Midwest to Miami or South Florida for $80. They can get my business
Should the new name be The Frontier Spirit?
one thing I don't understand is their carry bag very limited
The only time I took spirit, I couldn’t get out the plane for one and half hours after we landed in LAX
@
Nope.
It’s clear at booking.
No, the spirit airlines has reach the technological stagnation.
I hope they survive, this airline is valuable and works for me, who cares about snacks , just get me there.
so price now going higher, ppl getting layoff, and one less company in the field. very antitrust lmao good job!
If Spirit goes under, means flying is going to get a lot more unpleasant since their customer base has to fly on other airlines. 😅
I can fix Spirit if I was the CEO
I need them to stay in business so economy prices on real airlines remain somewhat reasonable
Management went Wrong, along with the times!
Delta learned from spirit’s mistake and banked on it really quickly offering packages spirit charged for
Spirit deserves to go under with their predatory baggage practices.
They always got me from point A-B with no issue.
Same here. I've flown with them 4 times in 2024. Zero issues
The people have been telling the airline for years for bigger chairs and more leg room. I don’t understand how this is news
I lost lots of money on SAVE!
People may hate Spirit’s product but if they disappear every other airline will raise their prices… they’re a net positive for consumers on the rest of the industry whether you fly them or not
Short answer...no
But I would love it if they still find a way.
Lets start with them losing my luggage and refusing to compensate or even apologize😅
Spirit really needs to hone in on the customer service. They need to stop charging for water, but for the consumer looking for cheap flights it’s awesome! I love the cheap flights and keep the big guys from going crazy with prices. I do hope they survive
Flying is slowly going back to being a luxury.
If the CEO looks in to his pockets and worries his pockets instead take care of the company?
MEAN : FAILED
I sure hope so… I’d hate to see those passengers on other airlines.
Geesh.
It hurts that you are not wealthy enough to buy your own jet so you have to rub shoulders with 200 underclassmen, huh?
@TinLeadHammer ..... I've seen news reports about Spirit Airlines passages and the numerous fist fights involving them that have taken place not only in the terminal but also on the plane itself. So, these are not baseless assumptions. Speaking of assumptions, how do you know what my net worth is? You don't.

Yup, flown it 3 times. All flights was horrible do to the type of customers. The last and final flight I had with them we had to get diverted and land in Chicago because one passenger decided to sexually harass a lady in front of him while the plane was getting ready to take off. The lady complained and him and his girlfriend got sent to the back and he was yelling and getting aggressive with the flight attendants. As the plane was taking off he got up from his seat and started yelling at the flight attendants again. He would keep doing this until we landed in O’hare and the cops came in and pulled him out. That incident added another 4 hours to the trip. Never dealing with that crappy airline again. Not worth the cheap tickets.
That judge was probably an AA investor.
No issues with the airline, i know what i am paying for and my personal item is within the size requirements.
If you’re flying with spirit you already know you’re going to be treated like chattel.
The worst airline I ever flew. I will NEVER fly spirit again.
For the longest time, I thought Spirit Airlines was Sprint. I figured since Sprint's cell service was so crappy, they just decided to fly planes. 🤷🏾♀️🥴 They got the same color scheme and all.🤦🏾♀️
I have not flown southwest in yrs their fares are so high even low ones
Spirit airline problem was that engine recall. And greedy investors who want more money. Spirit got away from the low cost. When their prices went up, people started looking at it like they can go somewhere else with those fees. They should’ve kept the prices low and cover more markets
