Honestly, the thing I REALLY loved about Lisa was that, even as her home lab was destroyed and she was taken away. She thought first and foremost about Dracula. While she was being dragged away, she said something along the lines of "Don't do this, he's come so far!" Knowing that all she had done to make him human again was about to, quite literally, go up in smoke.
With Dracula and Lisa's relationship being so bright for both of them, I wonder what Vlad would have thought of the Speakers and Sypha especially, had they met under different circumstances... Going from being such an emotionally starved person to having such a brief -subjectively- and glorious relationship, then watching Lisa die for such a petty reason really does a fantastic job of cementing Dracula's character as a tragic villain. He WANTED to be a better person for and because of Lisa.
Dracula and Lisa were soulmates. not in a necessarily spiritual sense, but they completed each other and made each other better and more fulfilled people. Even after Lisa is killed, Dracula reaches out to humans, Hector and Issac, and treats them like genuine people. I do not believe he could have done that without the gifts Lisa brought him
I think this is something that people forget when looking for a spouse: finding someone who completes and complements you, someone who brings the best out of you.
@@jackbutt8774 while that is true, this about the Netflix series. He mentions to Lisa that he gave up putting people on pikes long ago. And his behavior after her death indicates a withdrawal from the world. He even saves Isaac’s life. I choose to believe that even though Dracula wanted to kill humanity, he could still value individual humans.
@@scarlightemperor3410 And I think by the time that year passed, he was just done with it all. He got his payback on the people actually responsible for her death, and then unconsciously realized he just didn't want to go on without her. He didn't even really believe in the plan to destroy mankind.
I simply cannot wait until your character study of Alucard! That man goes through so sooo much throughout this series. It's even worse when you consider that due to his rapid aging, he's technically still a teen (19).
What I like is she never pity's him. It'd be easy to write her as someone who feels bad for him and wants to fill his heart, feel bad and responsible for him but Dracula is someone who seems like he often falls deep into self pity and uses that to indulge in his ways and excuse it with 'woe is me' attitude and the fact she comes in and offers none, not a way for him to feel like the victim, no excuses for his inaction or cruelty towards others and instead hands him a challenge actually helps him tremendously, shakes off the cobwebs so to speak.
One of the reason I always liked Interview with a Vampire as it touches in how hard eternity is, even though you are a vampire you still seek companionship and things that bring joy some find others like them some the arts or other hobbies. Dracula was isolated for centuries never even really feeling a kinship with his own kind, Lisa gave him something to live for and believe in.
Lisa Tepes is one of the best written characters I had ever seen. In just three minutes they gave her more than enough characterisation for the understanding of Dracula's and Alucard's motivations. I would be amazed if she isn't refered in writing classes.
To me, she feels like... the power of conviction in writing, personified. Most people are content to live life in a standstill- but usually, when you meet someone that _driven,_ they, in the end, in some way, push you forward.
The problem with changing because of someone is that they often are your entire support for that change and how quickly you go backslide to old behavior like how dracula said that he gave up staking people a long time ago was a sign that he was already becoming less violent but when Lisa was killed he immediately went back to greater violence
I just started rewatching this series! Shame we didn't get more time with Dracula and Lisa, they had some really fun chemistry that the writers absolutely nailed
No kidding. The bookends of the show--their meeting at the start of their relationship, and the epilogue where they get a room at an inn and just interact--made me long for a show that was just about that. The writers make them fit just _so_ well.
The crazy thing was I’m 100% sure that Dracula would’ve spared Wallachia had they showed remorse and apologized for Lisa’s death…the fact that he gave them a YEAR! To do it to, but they celebrated her death and it was like spitting on her grave, I do not blame Dracula at all
1 of Dracula's CLASSIC lines in the videogames and that this is inspired from is "What is a Man? A miserable little pile of Secrets?! Have at you!" - I think the writers made sure that Lisa came across as forthright, honest, sincere & genuine - an open book or someone who wears their heart on their sleeve - I think Vlad's appeal in this scene to her is her bunt straight forward nature (which is also kind & considerate) so he believes she is trustworthy and also loyal to those she cares for (she was willing to walk into the Lair of a Killer for the sake of bettering Humanity whom she is somewhat loyal to - a nameless faceless humanity at that) so he sees in her qualities he regards highly: courage, trustworthy, loyal, a blunt revealer of secrets, not a keeper of 1, and a strength of character not that different from his - like new young blood & fresh ideas that inspires old jaded minds - rekindling something in them they thought lost long ago...imho anyways.
First of all, the fangs were adorable and the outfit was quite nice. Secondly, Lisa's always been a favorite of mine. I'd always seen her as a take on the 'beauty who tamed the beast' scenario, but it was clear (or 'clear') back then. The depiction of how much she cared for the people, and what was done to her at the end, made it all the more reasonable for Vlad to become what he became than it did when I was first playing Castlevania and the background of Lisa came out.
Your comment made me notice that: Belle -> Lisa Beast ->Dracula I did not make this link before, and the parallels are very direct. Both women are kind of outcasts, they love knowledge, they both are brave and answer to a treat by demanding manners from the one who threaten them, they both put their lives on the line for the benefit of others.
LOVED THIS!!! As a bit of a hikikomori myself, i loved the dynamic between Dracula and Lisa, and how we got to see him go from closed-off and suspicious to living a full life again. Sure, we didn't see the best of it, but the hints are there; they hand-made toys for the baby boy they made together, painting and fixing up the room together and encouraging his growth both emotionally and academically, they filled the castle halls with love and laughter, raised their son to an age where he could be his own person, and Lisa convinced Vlad to go on a world-walking-journey while she settled in as the doctor she wanted to be.
Dracula's character in this series is particularly fascinating, how his immense campaign of catastrophic revenge is really just a displacement because what he wants most is simply to die. It's why he runs out of steam so quickly after actually starting it because the doing is less distracting than the planning, why he is unbothered by the machinations or failings of his underlings but reacts to anyone actually challenging his commitment to the cause with explosive anger and threats of violence - he is so completely incapable of actually processing grief that anyone trying to take away his displacement reads to him as an existential threat. That's also why he's actually happy when a plucky gang of heroes storm his castle to kill him; this is comforting, familiar ground and the threat of death a positive delight compared to the threat of being alone with his thoughts. And, of course, what makes his eventual realisation of the truth absolutely devastating. I love that this show took the challenge of taking actual Castlevania Dracula, 'the ultimate evil that must exist for God to be the ultimate good', and go HELL WITH IT WE'RE MAKING HIM A SYMPATHETIC CHARACTER
It wasn't as much of a challenge but more of expanding upon story bits introduced in Castlevania 3 (Belmont, Sylpha and Alucard teaming up) and, arguably the most famous game in series, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (changing Dracula's motivation from "Rage against the Heavens" to "They've killed my wife! THEY WILL PAY!" with Alucard stopping him honoring his Mother's last wish to "not seek revenge")
Hahaha! LOVED the teeth Georgia! And, of course, the rest of your cosplay is simply BREATHTAKING! Back in my university makeup class, I actually formed fangs to my teeth using dental stone. MUCH easier to talk = ) Being a powerfully built and capable protector myself, many a lady has mistaken me for a "Bad Boy" she can set about to "change with her love". They were SO disappointed to learn that I am actually a better than a Boy Scout Good Boy. Bad Boys aren't the ONLY ones that can be tough. And I have your back in an unselfish, loving and non egocentric way. = ) You are SO right! "Bad Boys" and "Bad Girls" only change IF they want to. A massively large percentage don't. It s a nonsensical impossible task. Like you said, when they show you who they are...believe them.
Even after living for a 1,000 years or maybe more Dracula could tell Lisa definitely wasn't like any woman or any person he's ever met, the fact she wasn't afraid him and was very sharp tongued and quick witted drew Dracula to her more than she to him , I loved the relationship between Dracula and Lisa it's a shame we didn't get to see more of it on the show
That analogy of being the strongest character in the game was so clever and spot on! As a big gamer myself I've experienced that feeling before but would never have related that to Dracula's psyche!

I just finished the series about a week ago and immediately after went on UA-cam to check if you ever covered it, and was upset you didn't. Imagine my joy! I absolutely loved Dracula's portrayal, they found a fresh take on a character done a million times. He is a scholar, he has his own thirst for knowledge, yet for a very long time he believed there is nothing left for him to learn. Lisa gave him his curiosity back. She was intriguing, and she opened a new world for him, sending him on his travels, experiencing the world as a human would. She has agency, temper and fun in her, no wonder he fell in love. But it is still Dracula, and the creators didn't try to make him a fallen hero. He is a monster, he is sulking, he is insane and pathetic, and terrifying. Yet there is humanity to him also, and the scene of his death when he realises he is killing "our boy" is just... chills, absolute chills. The most human thing imaginable. Great characterisation for both him and her, and I can't wait for your take on the rest of the phenomenal characters in this.
Great analysis. The interaction between Vlad and Lisa is easily one of the absolute highlights of the entire series to me. Lisa is great, she genuinely manages to baffle him with her responses (and he probably thought he had seen everything there is to see).
OMGOMGOMG... Georgia is reacting to Dracula from Castlevania anime! ❤ this is one of my favorite vampire animes of all time! ❤ thank you, Georgia! now I can fangirl properly on this
I hope you watched the whole series , this was one of my favorite romantic revenge stories . I cheered for the villain , I knew his pain and wanted his vengeance to be satiated . You don't get that honestly in most stories. Not like this, even up to the point it seems to have consumed him , his heartbreak made him vulnerable when he was always the strongest most powerful being in the world. He embraced peace in death and regretted only having lost sight of her love even more in his anger. 10/10 amazing love story, and so well done.
Im so Happy you're finally doing the Castlevaina series, some of the best characters in a show that i think youd also like to break down is Alucard, Carmella, Trevor Balmont, Issac and Hector
I'm so excited you're digging into this series! There's so much interesting psychology at play throughout it. I can't wait to hear more of your thoughts.
Change must come from within. Not because of someone else. Once they leave, you revert back to your old ways. Still, I enjoyed the dynamic between Lisa and Dracula. Her "manners" comment had me thinking: Ooooo she bad! 😂
Things can never be in a perfect state, if their relationship came to fruition and she died of old age instead, then even the memory of her (And her expectations of him), would have allowed the world to know relative peace from Dracula for at least a few centuries. Perhaps something else may have eventually still triggered him, but a few centuries of peace for humanity in exchange for the sacrifice of a willing human woman (willing to live with a vampire for life), would have been worth it.
As someone who can be kind of cold and not really approachable sometimes hell my resting bitch face mainly shows contempt. not snobby but wtf am I doing talking to this brain dead jackass. but even so meeting someone like lisa would trigger the favorite quote of fans of castlevania I think i like this one. Honestly maybe even more so than vlad. i despise people who love to talk about their opinions but cower in the corner when a different or opposing perspective is brought up. It’s the one thing that actually infuriates me more than anything else. So lisa being a person unafraid to speak her mind but also willing to listen would have a significant impact on her request for me to genuinely try
@@PureYang0 It wasn't even necessarily a case of willing to live with him, she very much wanted to in the end, culminating in a son as a testament to their closeness.
While I should have expected the comparison given how this is an adaptation of a game, the point you made of achieving total power in a game and being left with a common stale feeling was very well done. Definitely something I have related with more often than I would have liked. I'm looking forward to all the other videos you do about this as I think this is one of Netflix's true diamonds in the rough that is most of their content for me personally.
Vlad: "What do you have to trade for my knowledge?" Lisa: "Perhaps I can teach you some manners!" And I was immediately in love with Lisa. I found Vlad to be such a fascinating character, I love that he was turning over a new leaf for this person who actually wants to take care of him. And then I was 100% rooting for him to kill everyone when they killed Lisa. I was like "Yes, do it! Bleed them all dryyyyy!"
Oh, I am very much looking forward to more Castlevania character breakdowns. Very interested in hearing your thoughts on the dualities of Trevor and Dracula himself.
Wonderful and fascinating analysis as always. However, please be careful of Belmontitis. It is highly contagious so be on the look out for the symptoms which include but are not limited to mass cursing, regularly getting into fights with people you just met, generally crass behavior, a bottomless thirst for beer, and talking to personifications of death like they owe you money. It is too late for Alucard and Sypha, we do not want to lose you to it as well.
I'm not sure if this is the best place to put suggestions, but I would love it if you would take a look at the social anxiety portrayed in the show Komi Can't Communicate. I love your channel - thank you for all you do!
Please please please make more of these castlevania videos they are so interesting to watch with all the characters feeling like grander than life personalities
OH MY GOD, thank you so much for this. I love your videos and would most definitely love if you'd cover more characters from the series, especially Carmilla and Lenore. 🦄💜💜💜
You are on point when it comes to being hollow when you try to shut out the pain. I only realized it had gone too far when a very close friend died suddenly and I felt nothing. Its been hell coming back especially with my penchant for getting into abusive platonic and romantic relationships. But its been worth it. I have met and sadly lost some amazing people in that time and i wouldnt trade a year of not feeling the losses for a moment i had with them.
Oh let's goo, I love this show! I really like the character developments, fight scenes and simply the philosophy of this show. It is really good quality. Maybe you can make a video about how vampires see death because there is a really interesting philosophy surrounding the concepts of life and death from their perspective (idk if you watched s4 but there is a scene with Lenore, specifically talking about human life and their life). Also you should wear those fangs for the next april's fools and troll people with a half an hour video about a topic everyone has been requesting that can be hardly understood because of the fangs lmao.
@georgiadow Love your channel! You’re doing amazing work with the psychological insights on characters! It’s entertaining, informative, and highly relatable, offering a therapeutic perspective that people can apply to their own lives. Plus, tying it to popular TV shows and characters makes it engaging and fun. Keep it up!
Netflix's Castlevania is one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. I really hope you have more videos in store! Vlad and Lisa were a great place to start! Also the teeth were an amusing touch!
Dr. Dow, another inciteful and entertaining video! Your cosplaying adds a fun and whimsical touch to these videos which draws a person in, allowing them to really pay attention to what your saying (in my opinion, anyway). A character i think you'd have a field day with is Sho Fukamachi from Bio-Boosted Armor Guyver. It's been a long running manga since the late 80's, an OVA series and a 26-episode series that aired on TV in 2006.
8:32 Whilst it may be true hybristophilia is pretty common as well, also plays a part on women who only feel attraction to abusive men, I don't think this should be utterly discarded on Lisa's case, because Dracula is, by every definition of the word, a monster. I will love ypur analysis of the scene where he realises he almost kills Alucard.
I love the subtle blend of the historical Vlad Tepes and the CastleVania fictional Dracula. The Real Vlad did impale many of invaders of his Country as a scare tactic Against the Turks. Mix that with fictional Vampire Vlad, you have a great Monster with a skewed view on the world until Lisa meets him.
The teeth were cute, did you get them for this cosplay. That leather or fake leather jacket is killer. This series is awesome , I wish we would have gotten more time with Lisa. Great analysis.
I like how the series starts out with the first meeting of the tragic doomed couple that sets everything into motion, and ends with true same couple, having been granted a miraculous happily ever after.
The moment I saw their first scene together, I knew Castlevania was gonna be good. Loved it all the way, and Vlad and Lisa's interactions were amazing. Puts a smile on my face whenever I see them, it's a real shame what happens but it's also understandable *why* Dracula campaigns against humanity, because there was no evil in Lisa, but the Church didn't care.
Their relationship instantly hooked me. They're so cute and so tragic. 😭 I really hope you cover Alucard and/or Issac. Castlevania has such enjoyable characters! ❤
I think what happens with saddening frequency is the female instinct to find a partner that is a good defender instead lands them someone that is possessive and controlling. On surface they often look similar, but after a while the differences become painfully clear. I also realized while watching this that the nameless Captain encountered in Season 3 fills a similar role, when he asks, "Why would a man with all your fantastic knowledge not use it to teach people how to be kind?"
Honestly, the thing I REALLY loved about Lisa was that, even as her home lab was destroyed and she was taken away. She thought first and foremost about Dracula. While she was being dragged away, she said something along the lines of "Don't do this, he's come so far!"

Yes , I think Vlad and Lisa would have adopted Sypha in an alternate time.

@@PureYang0 It wasn't even necessarily a case of willing to live with him, she very much wanted to in the end, culminating in a son as a testament to their closeness.
i really hope you do more of this series. it is really deep when it comes to emotional perspectives
ALL RIGHT!!! Georgia’s finally doing a react video-series on something else I’ve watched 😊
yay
Yes yes yes yes I adore this series! Excited to see how you break everyone down Georgia!
If you do more Castlevania I can't wait until you do Isaac and his development across the series.
Definitely my favorite character in the series, and his growth would be great to see dissected.
Vlad: "What do you have to trade for my knowledge?"
Lisa: "Perhaps I can teach you some manners!"
And I was immediately in love with Lisa.
I found Vlad to be such a fascinating character, I love that he was turning over a new leaf for this person who actually wants to take care of him. And then I was 100% rooting for him to kill everyone when they killed Lisa. I was like "Yes, do it! Bleed them all dryyyyy!"
I'm very excited for your coverage of Dracula fighting Alucard in the castle, "what am I doing?" It's such a powerful scene
yes i may do that also = )
A CASTLEVANIA EP???? 😍😍😍 omggggg. So excited to watch later, thank u for making this!!!
wonderful !! more to come
Oh, I am very much looking forward to more Castlevania character breakdowns. Very interested in hearing your thoughts on the dualities of Trevor and Dracula himself.
Wish we had a prequel series of Dracula and Lisa. Even if it's just one season, I want to see their relationship bloom.
We need to quarantine Trevor. He’s our Patient Zero.
Oh boy, another series I didn't know I needed. Also: PLS do a video on best boy Isaac. 🥺
Omg a video about Isaac would be awesome
I am so excited to see you cover Castlevania!!!
Glad you're finally watching Castlevania.
So many characters and interactions to analyze!
I cant wait to see her thoughts on Isaac's whole story
Really hope this one is gonna end up being a series. I would love to see your take on Alucard
Very cool that you covered Castlevania. I love that series a big fan of the video games growing up. That was a great relationship between those two.
Yeeesss! The Castlevania netflix series is one of my favourite series in recent years. Can't to see your videos on the other cast members.
I'm so glad you're covering Castlevania
Oh let's goo, I love this show! I really like the character developments, fight scenes and simply the philosophy of this show. It is really good quality. Maybe you can make a video about how vampires see death because there is a really interesting philosophy surrounding the concepts of life and death from their perspective (idk if you watched s4 but there is a scene with Lenore, specifically talking about human life and their life). Also you should wear those fangs for the next april's fools and troll people with a half an hour video about a topic everyone has been requesting that can be hardly understood because of the fangs lmao.
Also Lisa is the embodiment of "but guys, I can fix him!"
Raven !!! i hope you are well and safe and thanks so much more to come = )
I'm so glad you started doing this show! This was SO GOOD.
@georgiadow Love your channel!
You’re doing amazing work with the psychological insights on characters! It’s entertaining, informative, and highly relatable, offering a therapeutic perspective that people can apply to their own lives. Plus, tying it to popular TV shows and characters makes it engaging and fun. Keep it up!
that is what I am hoping to do = ) thanks
This is my first video from this channel. I love therapy videos, but at the same time I love Castlevania! This is the coolest therapist video yet
Yay !
@@GeorgiaDow woot!
Gotta say I really liked the transition into the sponsor at the end.
Netflix's Castlevania is one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. I really hope you have more videos in store! Vlad and Lisa were a great place to start!
Also the teeth were an amusing touch!
This costume is on point! ❤ I really like how Lisa and Dracula play off each other.
The commitment to getting fans is top tier!
This meant so much to me. I’ll look into it
I'm so excited you're doing videos on castlevania. there's so much to think about/talk about.
That's why I removed all the spikes with people on them around my house. People judge you for them
8:32 Whilst it may be true hybristophilia is pretty common as well, also plays a part on women who only feel attraction to abusive men, I don't think this should be utterly discarded on Lisa's case, because Dracula is, by every definition of the word, a monster.
I will love ypur analysis of the scene where he realises he almost kills Alucard.
Oh lol the teeth are so cute..hahah thanks for the new the vid and I'm glad your covering this show
You're awesome. Love the aspiration to wear the teeth and the practicality to take them out for the quality of the video.
I have been hoping against hope that you would address this series!!
Yes!!!!! Please more castlevania videos! I’d love to see some on carmilla and her sisters, as well the forgemasters
Yay Castlevania! Hopefully this is the first of many episodes covering the show
Lisa "I can fix him" Tepes
Lisa: I can fix him.
I just started watching this series. I’m glad to hear your insight.
Your show is really good I listen to it while I work
thanks so much = )
The teeth were cute, did you get them for this cosplay. That leather or fake leather jacket is killer.
This series is awesome , I wish we would have gotten more time with Lisa. Great analysis.
happy you liked the teeth i did try = )) yes enjoy the jacket
"Hello, my name is Lister, I want to be a molecular biologist".. almost had me rolling. Caretaker vibe makes some sense.
8:45 From What I've seen on R34 and with the fight with Trevor confirming it, he's also shredded despite the suite giving him a modest appearance.
I like how the series starts out with the first meeting of the tragic doomed couple that sets everything into motion, and ends with true same couple, having been granted a miraculous happily ever after.
If you're now covering Castlevania, I can't wait for your discussion of Isaac.
Just excited to see you review this show. Love it!
The moment I saw their first scene together, I knew Castlevania was gonna be good. Loved it all the way, and Vlad and Lisa's interactions were amazing. Puts a smile on my face whenever I see them, it's a real shame what happens but it's also understandable *why* Dracula campaigns against humanity, because there was no evil in Lisa, but the Church didn't care.
oh i LOVE this i would like more about Dracula and how he was broke after Lisa´s death.
I’d love to see an analysis of Renfield. The movie is a satirical take on the vampire servant trope, and it’s hilarious
OMG I literally put a comment that she should do castlevania like weeks ago thinking it was a long shot in the dark and man am I glad that it happened
Super cool you doing this serie
Loved the video! You should do a video on Isaac from Castlevania!
A wall keeps the possible hurt out, but also the emptiness in
Love this review, my favorite character is Isaac. Hope to see a video about him, he's just unique as a character. Keep the good work!
I love ur work I find this entertaining and informative
thank you !!
Really hoping you do the final confrontation between Dracula and Alucard and how that *ended*.
Man I love the castlevania series. Glad you covered it!
The lisp right at the start cracked me up. Loved it xD
Such an underrated show
Can you do one about Erszebet and her delusions of grandeur.
Another Awesome video!!! Also the fangs are cute❤
Amazing analysis and cosplay as always.
