Supposedly, the guy who played Burke did such a good job of playing a slimy, sleazy villain, that when his own mother watched the movie, she cheered when his character was killed by the aliens. That’s how you play a villain role: get those who love you in real life to be happy when they see you die onscreen.

@@RobinHood3000 I feel a lot of movies today with a female antagonist alway neglect the relatable side. They tend to make them over powered or overly competent to the point it’s beyond reason. Ripley is intelligent but not omnipotent and uses her knowledge and instincts based on what we know about her life that are reasonable example her using the robot. She was most likely trained to use something like that and it wouldn’t be hard to explain why she would know how to use it. @@tylerd132 I don't know if I totally agree with that. For one thing, there are plenty of unrelatable, imperfectly written, or overly qualified male protagonists -- why aren't female ones allowed the same benefit of the doubt?
Like, you can see how we had to do some mental work to understand Ripley being qualified on the power loader -- "she works in shipping, she was probably trained, we donn't need to see her learning it onscreen." But then Rey comes along, suddenly people refuse to connect those mental dots, instead of going "she's a scavenger, she spends all her days taking apart spacecraft, we don't need to see her learning mechanical skills onscreen" and moving on. Doesn't seem fair.

In another book, he transferred his program to the shuttle and take it for a ride basically. He goes on a side mission, something goes wrong in the mission.. His program is wiped from the shuttle computer. This is the reason it takes 57 years to get found.

I agree that both are extremely good for different reasons. The first one I love all the tension that the movie provides, the action of each character, their fear of this thing. Atmospheric horror is my favorite kind of horror. No cheap tricks or jump scares, just made the ambient speak by itself.
Now the second is a extreme fun and action pack movie, with also some parts more "horror ish" but in general completely different atmosphere. I love the story, the characters and the pace of the movie.
I feel exactly the same about the terminator franchise. The first movie is much more dark and thoughtful in terms of pace with each scene made specially for maintaining the high tension pace of the story even during exposition, the atmosphere is fantastic in my opinion. The second one, like aliens, is a great action movie, with also good characters and scenes. Is also more fun to watch to relax and enjoy.

The scene where they played mumblypeg, they didn't tell Bill Paxton they were going to switch up and use his hand, his reaction afterwards was authentic. They did speed it up a little, but he was still in danger of a serious injury. I know you've heard the franchise goes down after this, I mean how many sequels are better than the original. Look, don't go by other people's opinions, nobody knows what you're going to like and not like but you. Finish the series, I think you'll find something you like in each one, especially Resurrection, there are more recognizable faces, a couple of your favorite actors in fact. You don't have to react to them, but you should watch them to decide if you like them or not. Anyway, loved the review, love you guys, take care and stay safe ❤️

The actor that played Bishop did that knife game scene on his own. The were going to use a recording trick, but Henricksen bought knives and practiced a lot before filming started which is insanely impressive. The power loaders that Ripley got in were controlled by someone housed inside of it. She was basically standing on a platforms attached to a puppeteer's legs and they moved the arms while she acted. Without looking it up, I believe they were made out of PVC pipes and other stuff. Just like the first movie where you see the alien as Ripley is going for the controls hinting at a reveal later, this movie does the same thing when the ship's landing legs hit all that garbage. You can see the alien queen being pulled up into the landing gear area, which was hinting at the reveal once they escaped and landed just a bit later. :D The 15 min countdown at the end of the movie was actually a 15 min countdown for real.

Apparently, James Cameron pitched this movie by writing the word “Alien” on a white board, stepped away and gestured to the word. Then wrote the “S” at the end of the word, stepped away and gestured again. Then drew a line through the “S” making a dollar symbol, implying how well it will sell. I love picturing the executives approval of seeing “Alien$” on a white board.

Corporal Hicks didn't pass out on the drop ship; he was sleeping. They were trying to show how jaded and experienced he was for combat missions.
Lt. Gorman's character arc paid off from his inexperience to going out like a G with the baddest of the badasses Pvt. Vasquez.
He's 100 on-point about Alien: Isolation -- the stealth terror and corridor ambience hasn't been equaled in any game. On the opposite end of stealth, I recommend "Aliens Colonial Marines" (ACM) on PC released four years before "Isolation." Sure, everybody rightly dumped on ACM at release; however, after a few years the game's more or less fixed and features authentic sound effects and weapons for any fan. ACM isn't quite "Isolation" tier, but deserves a look for its fidelity to the franchise.

    A couple of fun things.
One, search for Michael Biehn and Ripley cosplay. That should get you to an image Biehn did with a young girl in Ripley cosplay at a convention. They recreated when Hicks was teaching Ripley that weapon.
Two, the scene where Newt falls from the wheel then down the shaft, the actress playing Newt, Carrie Henn, kept messing up the take because that shaft was basically a large slide. So Cameron promised her that after they film the scene, she'd be able to play on it the rest of the day. She did the scene and Cameron came through.

Actually Apones' team is the best of the best, the issue was Gorman, He was still too new and inexperienced. The higher ups didn't know, the only person who was following it was Weyland Yutani that Burke worked for, he sent the colony the coordinates based on the Nostromos flight recorder and on Hadleys Hope WeyYu, had dispatched three scientist, after Burke sent that info Newts family go to the direlect ship and her dad brings back the face hugger attached, then they send out more people and they come back with more face huggers and that was the end of that colony, even the marines stationed there got over taken, It's why Newt told her that it wouldn't matter when Ripley told her "these people are marines and they are here to protect you" all of this gets explained in the book "River of Pain"

Remar has said that he was fired due to his drug problems and an arrest for possession of illicit substances. He also said that the incident damaged his relationship with Walter Hill, the producer of the Alien series who had previously directed him in The Warriors. Hill didn't hire Remar again for 12 years.
