@@herbfromhouston1960 its a terrible idea to beach a swing keel, if that is something someone wants to do in my humble opinion you are far better with a bilge keel
Great Video Chasing Latitudes.. I don't suppose you know of an article that shows the controls of a lifting keel or swing keel. The mechanism of lowering, holding and lifting especially an unweighted keel
🤔 I am sure I can find one, I think there is a youtube video some where on the details, someone posted something on it over on my members area. Give me a few and let me see what I can find
Coming from White water Kayaking and no sailing skill, some thing I know like ferry gliding. Have a small SnapDragon twin keel, their are not many videos on these, but it seems for some one at my level, its seems ive fallen on my keels lol. as while i learn, the plan is to make my way from Liverpool to cornwall, I have some knolage of the dangers tof tides and rocks, so I would sail as far from land as I dare, Though not a blue water yacht, I wonder if they can cope in ruogh seas? I would like to learn what I can do,and what I should not do my friend?
What snap dragon do you have? crossing oceans is really more about the captains skill thank most people think. People have crossed the Atlantic rowing so I would say hone those skills my man
@@ChasingLatitudes I will not be traveling away from Britain as such, , the plan is to see if I can fit enough and enjoy the isolation, but in time rent house out and go see what ever I can. maybe in a bigger 20 sbapdragon were my head touches the roof lol.fitness and lazynes need to soughted along the way lol, but finding a beach I can land on may be a cheaper way to anchore lol?
@@bongoslide yeah it always just depends on what fits your needs, always anchor out if possible to save money, invest in a nice dingy and really its a matter of what comfort level you are okay with

What boat is that from 3:47? Is that a decksaloon layout, or rather pilothose?
