I've just started this game, only finished ff vii and vii Remake in the past, only 3 hours in but its a breath of fresh, gonna play the others too since I now own every main title in the series plus some of the spin offs.
Nice, RPG speedruns usually aren't my cup of tea but this one was really neat. One question though - at around 11:30 they explain the reasoning for enabling Shortcut battle menus, cursor memory, unequip on job change, etc. - pretty much all the things anyone watching this would've already understood. They didn't explain setting Battle Speed to 4, though, which is the one thing most viewers probably wouldn't understand - can anyone explain why they set it to 4? I know the setting's description is wrong and it doesn't work the way you'd assume (i.e. the game "freezes" ATB for a small period of time when a character's turn comes up, and Battle Speed just determines how long this grace period is, with 6 keeping the enemies frozen for several seconds and 1 disabling the grace period completely). But why 4? Just a happy medium, since 6 would also basically freeze your other characters' gauges until you pick an action, along with enemy gauges?
Basically what you said, yeah. 3 is a bit too fast, and 6 is much too slow. 5 is also viable for running but isn't really necessary, everything can be performed on BS4 with no problems.
Oh I remember the hard time I had with this game when I was a kid. What a good game. And yes I played the english patched version as well. I didn't had all that money to throw away though so yeah. Nice run!
@@lukereilly9844 Most Final Fantasy games including this one take around 40-50 hours to blind play. Final Fantasy 12 is around 70. The shorter Final Fantasy games knowing what you are doing without expert level experience, study and manipulation like he did are around 30. This is based on my personal experience with the series. Manipulation is the act of looking at the code to determine which frame will produce the result you want. Many who use manipulation are using the knowledge discovered by people who looked at the code. You also have the community for a game sharing data on what is the most optimal way to finish a game.
Ah, my favorite game of the series! Love learning about ways to break this game.
It's my favorite too!
My favorite is VI but V is a close second for sure, specially the VGA version with the new superbosses

It's a little late, but bich's comment about striving for the speed run, apply for real life. They're all an inspiration
I always enjoy speedruns of long RPGs and this one really provides a great cozy atmosphere. good video :D

Samurai.
Saving the world by throwing money at their problems.
"X-death is basically a poor man's Golbez". So, the war raged on for many years between team X-death and team Golbez.
Well I mean one's a man and one's a tree. Are you team man or team tree?
Very impressive. I'm usually just done with grinding jobs from the Water Crystal after four hours.

Idk, this was fun to watch. But I kind of feel like it's cheating that he's done this before.
The point is that it's someone who is an expert of the game. If he'd never played before it'd be way over 100 hours
