  • A fun tool I forgot all about that is the best too for tight spaces, until I made last weeks toolsday about the joist hanger gun from Fasco is the Bostitch Palm Nailer. This is not just any palm nailer, but big enough to easily drive 60D ring shanks in with easy. A Tool like this might not be needed everyday, but when you have it, and use it, you love it!
Also, did anyone even hear the Hitachi compressor running in the background? It is amazingly quiet.

I bought this nail gun as we were planning to renew all the fencing in our back garden. As this involved 19 double slatted fence panels, 10 of which needed to be cut down in size, we knew there would be a need for a great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt deal of re-stapling the wooden slats to the wooden framework. Each alteration required the re-stapling of 62 wooden slats with double staples. Prior to starting the work we ordered sufficient additional staples as per the instructions with the gun.The gun performed fantastically throughout the entire project with no jams of misfires. The adjustable power was excellent allowing the staples to be fired into the 8mm slats to the correct depth. For the price paid this was a bargain and it proved itself to be so reliable and versatile making an arduous task much quicker and professional. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and it will be used on many other projects in the future.

I read the entire Ryan’s ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan’s Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan’s Shed Plans.

@@seantap1415 Agreed. I got a Hitachi 1 1/2" metal connector nailer and it's better then the palm nailer because you don't have to fiddle with little nails like you do with the palm nailer. I don't know how long those have been around but I bought one over 30 years ago for the cabinet shop. We used it to apply plastic t mould to shelf edges in 8ft . pcs. It had different types of heads, hard and soft plastic ones, steel for nails like yours , rubber heads and had a little regulator to control the power of the strike. Back then as far as I knew only one company made them but now see many do. They are handy for certain things though, for sure.

Nifty little thing. I can totally see how helpful this can be in tighter situations, even going from a medium swing to a bigger swing showed how much space you need to hammer something down rather than using the handheld device. 👍

This tool saved us on our current large project. We had 4000 lineal metres of weatherboards to face nail with 90mm galvanised nails. I know you showed a Bostitch strap nailer a week or so back, but this palm nailer is THE tool for joist hanger and hurricane strap installation. Bostitch PN-50 for the small version and PN-100 for the larger one.
One complaint that people have with the palm nailer is the placement of the hose connector. You can install a swivel connector which gives better access in close locations.
My building code required a 1 1/2" .149 diameter nail be used on the hurricane straps. I tired using a few different nailers, but none would center the nail in the pre-punched strap.
I don't make a living erecting buildings, so MY pneumatic tools are staying for a long time. It beats hand nailing. Also, if you purchase the urethane light weight hoses, they don't exhibit your complaint of being heavy.

Another thing for toolsday is the air locker, that removes nails. It's great if you're taking pallets apart and need to remove lots of nails. With the air locker and a pallet buster, you can disassemble lots of pallets quickly. You get the pallets for free. You can build things with the pallet wood, like dog houses, and sell them. When I was a kid, my dad and our cousin used to knock down old barns and other buildings. They would sell the wood. The kids job was to remove all the nails, then give the nails to another kid who's job was to straighten any bent nails and put all the good nails in one bucket, and any bad nails in another bucket.

We used to use those on H1 hurricane ties for Habitat For Humanity. Nailing the short fat nails through truss tie plates was extremely difficult by hand. You'd smash your fingers constantly because the nail was so short and the angle was hard as you are right up against the wall. Alternative was to use slip joint pliers to hold the nail so you could take a good swing at it. Palm nailer was best though, until they bought a Bostitch gun that shot those nails on a strip. Palm Nailer is also great for great for nailing upside down.

Used it back in the day for low to the ground soffits where you can't get a hammer or a gun, the only tool for the job. I bought one a few weeks ago at Lowe's for $50, didn't come with the glove that yours has. Will be using it for teco nails for brackets on high posts that have no real support yet

I have a cheapie palm nailer that I do my hurricane ties with. I never have to use TWO hands. A cushioned palm glove can be helpful. Mine goes ZZZZip. Did my palm nailer comment from last week trigger your memory?

Hey Kyle of subject but have you seen the new vest for the diamondback tool belt ? I’m going to wait for summer to end to wear in the fall & winter months. If you get one you should do a toolsday on that . Keep up the great work bro . Thanks !
