Its totally random but looking at this video, I just realize how fantastic it is playing with a band and each one is absolute best at what they contribute to the sound
Every year about this time October Rust comes out of the case and goes in the CD player in my car! Legit - since the CD came out... decided to look for live videos tonight. I was lucky enough to see them open for Ozzy forever ago. Love that album.
The funny is that I as a music lover I saw October Rust in a Thrift Shop two years ago when searching for new albums for my music collection. Was intrigued by the beautiful cover art and for 1 euro I bought it. It's not too bad when it's a dissapointing album I thought, it's only 1 euro. Man... Since then... Don't have the propper words. A masterpiece and one of the best albums in my collection. And I don't even like goth!
@Rory LOL Not easy as that. It was a gift he was born with. How many basketball players tall and big lungs can sing as deep as Peter? NONE. M8 he is unsurpassed.
Tyler Harrington, I don't think you are alone in that wish. Most men would love to have Peters voice. Such a man. I love Peter Steele since late 80's, early 90's. I cried when I found out he passed. He was the only real Gothic singer and TON was the only real Gothic band. I miss them all so much. Esp. Peter. RIP.
I presume you're speaking of his instrument - because this is one of the few instances in which the voice truly matches the body. A giant with with a huge bass voice (or at the very least bass baritone).
Discovered this band last week. I must have been hanging with the wrong crowd back then. Regret I did not see O Negative in person. I come from a similar background as Peter. He was so open about himself and now( many many years later) has such a effect on me. I am so very sad to think he was suffering back then. I wish so much that he can see how he has helped so many. He would be very pleased and happy I just know it.
@@RyansShack I recommend checking out their earlier stuff, I didn't get heavily into type O but I liked a few of their songs, glad you found this band and liked it too, everyone I show this band to thinks it's weird haha! people like different stuff I respect it.

This song is so beautiful. This is girl porn music or something....love this guy’s voice. So distinctive and sweetly overpowering. Something sexy about a guy who can be so big being romantic and not a bully to women... ( he was a big cat)... his voice was crazy sexy!
I am not one to comment on these threads regularly, with that said, I am compelled to participate in the discussion when it comes to these guys. I have said it before and will NEVER stop saying it, this band has got to be one of the most UNDER RATED bands of all time! They are lyrically, musically, and artistically up there with the likes of the best known bands, both current and past tense. Let's be clear, I am not talking in a genre sense, I am talking "music period", and believe me, I have a huge swath of musical comparisons to draw from. I have be CONSUMING music since I was about 5 years old and feel very confident that I am making an accurate appraisal of this band. in this track Peter asks " am i good enough? am I good enough for you?" Why Yes Peter, you,Kenny, Johnny, and Josh are absolutely good enough! (okay Sal U2) all I can say is that this guy Fuckin loves you (no homo!)
I agree with your sentiment. I think their use of occasional humor hurts their chances of being taken seriously by a lot of people and most critics. It's like the band Ween. People focus on the 1 or 2 goofy songs on a record and dismiss the other 10 epic tracks.
yup. the qualities of Peter Steele as a singer are barely known outside the realms of the rock and metal fans. Which is a tragedy..'cause a man with a voice like his voice is a total eargasm... whatever music you listen to... Plus he was just brilliant (and ambiguous!) in his song writing: "Black lipstick stains her glass of red wine, I am your servant, may I light your cigarette?" "She'll be bleeding again, And in lupine ways We'll alleviate the pain" He knew how to tell a story through music and create atmosphere to go along with it.. rare qualities but the green man had them all.

Takes me back to sophomore year in college '99, I was dating a gorgeous redhead Goth gal at the time. She banged my brains out for 5 straight days while Bloody Kisses, October Rust and World Coming down was in my cd player on repeat.
I muchly agree! Pete took the lushness of the Cure, the originality of the Beatles, the heaviness of Sabbath and the anger of Agnostic Front and his own vast musical abilities, and alloyed them together to make a rare and valuable alloy called Type O Negative. Unfortunatly, no one else yet has been able to create such a unique combination, and most likely never will in this lifetime. He will be loved and missed!
Miss you Peter, I miss you all in the band. No band will ever have this original sound or soul like this band had. I regret that I never got a chance to see them live.
I have only these few words..Peter, you have been the biggest part of my life for the last 17 years, since I was lovingly introduced to your soul igniting brilliant and sexual music. I only wish we had time to meet before your passing so I could have told you just how much you've meant to me. I'll love you forever.
During the 1960's, when I was a kid, the radios were always on Rock and Roll. Some of the songs were sappy, some weren't. I was 10 when I heard "Somebody To Love" by Jefferson Airplane and I wanted music with a harder edge, and the negativity Grace Slick was singing about. I got into Iggy and the Stooges in '69 and then in 1971 got turned on to Black Sabbath. Damn, I loved that band and still do. Finally saw them in '78 and then Ozzy was kicked out in '79. I first listened to Type O Negative in 1995 when I bought "Bloody Kisses". For the first time since the '70s, I heard something impressive. In 1996, Ozzy Osborne came to the area and the opening bands were Sepultura and Type O Negative. This video is as close to seeing them, as they were back then, as I could ever hope to see. Peter Steele was a big dude, with the voice to match. The image of Josh Silver's profile, with his hair, is something that I can't forget. Back in the '70s keyboards weren't unusual for a band, then, '80s on, keyboards weren't seen too much. But Type O Negative wasn't the average band and Josh Silver isn't an average musician. Then Ozzy did a two and half hour set. I went to many concerts in the '70s, '80s and into the 2000's, but that was one of the best. I have really missed Type O Negative. "October Rust" was their masterpiece. Peter Steele was different because he had lived a REAL life. He had worked jobs, gotten his hands dirty and he had been through some of the same shit that hits many people, jail, failed relationships, addiction, ect. I know I could relate. As for the rest of the group members, they showed how much they respected Peter Steele and their class by ending Type O Negative.
Days like these I really miss the big guy and this band..Peter has been one of the biggest musical influences on me since I was a kid and I would have literally gave anything to see them just once. I'll see you on the other side Pete..rest easy my friend..

It kills me that Peter isn’t around anymore. Really one of the best people out there. I would give one of my legs to see them live and get to talk to Peter. So sad 😔
One of the best performances live. Love Peter's voice in this one.
One of the greatest bands of all time... man.. this takes me back... I miss music like this.
I am a new fan of this group, kind of hard I found them so late on my life, I am 55. RIP green man, there is no more pain and suffering.
Same here. It was so sad to learn that Peter and the band were long gone. It's Heartbreaking to realize until then I was still too young to understand anything beyond nursery rhymes.
when peter steele tells you to turn something up, you fuckin' do it haha!
also, is that a chain for a guitar strap? dude was a total badass. awesome song, awesome band, RIP steele.
Yes re the guitar strap. Lucky to have seen them at monsters of rock 96 but of course i didn’t fully appreciate as i was waiting on Sepultura
Man I loved these guys. Had the honour of seeing them live in Toronto 2 times. Peter drinking red wine from a bottle. classic. His tone, mesmerizing. Song brings a tear to my eye that he is gone. Miss you Peter, and your music.
HE IS SUCH A GOD. THE WORLD JUST IS NOT AS BRIGHT AS IT ONCE WAS WHEN HE WALKED OUR REALM. HE IS SO MISSED BY SO MANY. RIP PETE. Θ ♥ Θ
Everytime I listen to their live, it get better. Love TYPE O!
