John at 12:20 look back, just before the release of that fish, over your right shoulder you can a good size one swim back and forth. Nice spot 5,5 Nice!
Great fish. I always love one that will pull your boat around. Finally caught some fish today, even if they were rainbow trout. I got 3 nice ones for my husband to eat. He’s very happy.
I just bought an old town 106. You're channel has really helped me rediscover my love for fishing and kayaking since I was a just a kid. Thank you for the inspiration!
What a beautiful day on the water with lots of fish and great catches. At @12:18 and your 9 o’clock was another big fish that came into view. Awesome video! 👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful spot for the beautiful spots those bass are fantastic unbelievable scenery too you getting better with that camera all the time John but you didn't have to improve much you did very good on the scenery portion and the fishing portion today was a knockout 5 lb spotted bass wow
Wow, such a great catch. Over 5 pounds. The largest small mouth I've ever caught in a creek (actually it was the Russian River) was 3 pounds. Nearly yanked the rod out of my hand. The current makes it feel heavier. Glad you could release your record catch. I ate mine.
What a great day with some awesome catches! I can't wait until I can get the confidence and time to get out on a kayak in some of the local creeks and rivers here.
What a huge spotted bass! In a small river no less! Well done. If you’re looking for a lighter, but fairly stable kayak for the river, I personally use the Kaku Wahoo. It’s a no frills, kayak, but has all the essentials and an open deck. They come in a 10.5 and a 12.5 foot but the bigger version only weighs 76 lbs.
Grew up wading the Potomac and Shenandoah, moved to Texas and now I fish all year, yet I really miss wading and swimming and catching fish till your arms are tired. I kayak everywhere and catch big bass in heavy cover. I love setting the hook and having your kayak move instead of the fish. Keep on choogling brother
For creeks i love the round bottom kayaks by Old Towne because you can float in 4 to 5 inches of water or less, They are a little squirrely but you rarely have to get out due to it's buoyancy
@@MattLaClear John told the spot on fb. I can't , its up to John, he da Man, with the fish catchin hands . LOL I can give you this much tho... Polk County!!
@@johnraypatterson6141 thanks! Throw a rock at me if you see my pretty face float by. I'm going to shadow John. Except it won't do me any good. He casts like a Larry Bird did from 3-point land.
I floated a branch of the Flint River with my 9 year old this weekend . I caught a rock bass, 3 bluegill and he caught 3 HUGE red breast. And broke my Mitchell Epic Rod getting hung with a white swim bait.
Really nice Spotted Bass. Congrats. I have a Hobie Outback and I love it but it weighs 80+ pounds so not really good to drag around. Keep a line wet John.
Got my "Creek Fishing Adventures" fix today! Excellent scenery and what a day catching spotted bass and BIG spotted bass! Enjoyed! Thanks for sharing! God Bless!
So peaceful to be floating down the river with clear water. Nice size fiver spotted bass. Makes you wonder how that tire got out there. Video and sound turned out great.
Man what an absolute stud of a spot! I tell people all the time that as for me: pound for pound,I’d take a spot over a largemouth any day. They are by far my favorite of the black bass family. Stellar vid as usual,John! Grats on that behemoth.
John great catch man! I love spotted bass I call them "southern Smallmouth" because occasionally they will jump like a smallmouth and pull like a freight train! I also loved the way you opened the video!
I sure did enjoy this video man,......I haven't fished the Conasauga in years. Appears that I need to though. We used to fish it over in GA when we were camping and hog hunting there......always caught a bunch of Rock Bass as I recall,....mostly on salamanders, or as the locals call them 'Spring Lizards'. Great video....keep 'em coming. It's a treat to see you fish water I've fished for over 40 years.
Wow brother you put together a string of dandies.. And to think you overslept to experience that...Coincidence? I say Providence. That was Divine intervention John. The river was gorgeous, gin clear and still not the first soul to launch. God is good!! Blessings my friend.
Caught my pb smallmouth in northern Ohio yesterday and then broke it on the same trip. Buddy caught his pb as well. Glad to see the big bass are biting across the country right now. Congrats on the beast of a fish
Great fish , great vlog , thanks for sharing . Possibly you could get a friend or somebody that would shuttle your truck down to a different takeout spot , for a $ tip . You could cover more water that way without having to go back over the same spots . STAY SAFE & KEEP ON FISHIN'
Doooooooooooode! OMG!... hell yes...beautiful skinny water and AWESOME catch.... i saw how it ran like that and knew it was over 5lbs...lol...i love it...great job
Same day you posted this, John, I ALSO caught a 22 inch spot from one of my favorite fishing areas. This one on a Texas-rigged pink Stik-O. Fun coincidence!
Congrats young man!!! You got me by one Oz. but mine is a Kentucky Spot. I think the Tenn. state record at that time was 6lb 7oz. Those fish are true sport fish, pull drag like a bulldog and jump extremely well. Caught mine in the Tenn. River, Nick a jack below Chickamauga dam. Thanks for sharing and have a Blessed Day!!!
I love your videos John, you do such a great job with them. I'm working and cant fish so I watch your videos and it's like I'm there fishing with you. Keep up the good job.
Congrats on a a great fish! If you don't mind financing a small college loan (LOL), you can get the Hobie Lynx. It is very versatile and would be great for all of the rivers and the lakes. I don't have one but have been looking at them a lot. I like my Old Town Predator PDL but it's so heavy and hard to move around.
You need to get a power pole for that yak so you can hold up when you are fighting a fish or even just hold up when you get to a hole you're wanting to fish. Nice Spotted bass there today, I sure like seeing the Coosa bass colors they are so pretty. The NDY angler has one of those power poles.
Congratulations on that big spot buddy!! I live 10 minutes from a really good stretch of that river for bass in GA. They don’t get much bigger than that in that river. You have definitely set the bar
Beautiful clear color's in the video. Some nice catches, that five pound bass was fantastic . Congratulations on that one especially. That video was first class . Thanks John stay safe keep fishing . Signed Will

That's a half pound away from Tennessee state record which I believe is 6lb 1oz. Caught out of Chickamauga Reservoir. State record holds as of April 3, 2022. Nice fish
Love the content and can definitely relate to the kayak dilemma as to the best for cutting upstream current and just ease of handling for lighter jaunts when not carrying camping stuff! Keep us up to date on how you deal with this!.....Nice bass!!
Crescent kayaks. My main one I use is the CK1 and it’s awesome. I also have the ultralight for shorter trips typically by myself. You maybe a little too tall for the ultralight but I’m sure you’d love the CK1. If you want to give one a try I’d be happy to let you. I live in Fort Oglethorpe and fish in the Chickamauga and Lookout creeks a lot. Check out Battlefield Outdoors. They’re a great local retailer.
Awesome.!!!! What a feeling that must have been. Congratulations. If you couldn't find any records, does that mean you won't get credit for that big guy.? Either way, you and us know what you did. That's so cool. Happy Fishing.
Great catch, John! Congratulations! I kayak fish as well. Something I’ve wanted to do to either cutout shuttle services or paddling back upstream is, get a scooter that I can load onto a hitch mounted rack. Go to the take-out first, drop off and lock up the scooter, put-in upstream, and then take the scooter back to the pit-in to get your truck. Yeah, it’s a little jockeying around, but you’d be completely self sufficient and on your own time, no one else’s.

Great spot man! Just wanted to let you know that’s a trophy size in Tennessee. If you got a good picture of the length of it you could submit it to see if you can get a trophy fish citation. Also very close to the state record by weight, which is 6lbs 1oz from what I saw.
