I have used many brands and models on production, recording, mixing and mastering, i also use a pair of Presonus 8"' on my home studio (i have 3 pairs of monitors in my home), they are great for the price, but there are obvious differences with high end monitors. If you combine 2 studio 8" 's with a pair of 8" or 10" Presonus subs you can have your 3 way system under 1000, not bad for production, lot of power for the buck! Cheers!

@@Error8x8 so you one of those who can hear a speaker through a room recorded on a mic and going on top of that through youtube compression, what world we live in lol
I agree with you, lad. I'm a newbie guitar player (I started to play in December 2023), and in first hand I just decided that a home studio is the best modern way to have fun and produce your own stuff with ilimitated amps/pedals content that the softwares and hardwares can give to you. For me, who doesn't want to spend thousands of euros on my begginer studio, that worked for me, but only in a way of curiosity. I could analyze how a top tier studio monitor sounds in comparison to a cheap one. But, if I needed to choose between 3 different monitors and I wanted to go deep in each one of them to make my decision, this video couldn't help me at all. Still cool the comparison tho.
Also, something to note. Expensive monitors are usually made to last, and are made to hear things others can't produce. A Genelec set will usually last people more than 20 years on average with hardcore use. They are made for those with trained ears. A lot of people who are used to budget monitors have no idea what they are missing in their mixes. Most people who try on a pair of focal utopia's will either A: start crying (this isn't a joke, this can happen) B: Realize they sound like patrick star when he leedles. So yeah. When you need something that is going to be able to not only prevent ear fatigue for 8 hour sessions and last long, and sound clear as crystal, then the price tag can be justified.
Just got my mucky paws on the Studio 5 and the Sub 8bt arriving next week. Very decent combo. I use a Wiim Pro Plus with the AK DAC built in and it sounds fine, bought the Presonus because it fits into the front room as well as the studio.
@@sinciwed I had the same setup. Switched to E5's with Sub8 and the difference is very noticeable. E3.5 are a little bit too small and easily get overwhelmed by Sub8.
As one who is a believer in 3 way imaging, that said Presonus makes some very good recording and sound equipment for the price. Including a very good 8 inch subwoofer for a little over $200 as well. It's really hard to have much in the way of saying anything negative about Presonus products. And are a serious option for anyone wanting to upgrade their normal stereo but are on a budget.
I have been mixing on my Yamaha hs80m for over 15 years. I still love them. Great sound, size, volume (db), accuracy, looks, build quality, and price. I’m sure they’re better reference monitors out there but at some point it becomes just like any other instrument where you’re paying for the idea of perfection.
This video seems more about flexing about expensive Adam speakers rather than focusing on the Eris 8s. Why? Just focus on the 8s and don't mention the Adams... or compare the Eris to something similar, like Yamaha HS8s.
3 way monitors... is something else! I can't afford to buy Adam but I have Kali In-8 2nd Wave. Clear mids, tighter bass compared to 2 ways monitor where the same driver has to deal with bass and mids same time!
Great video. I am thinking of buying speakers, but I would appreciate it if you could help me decide to choose a speaker to listen to music and play games next to my desk in a relatively small room. First, I am not sure if monitor speakers are good for regular music listening. Second, I am thinking of buying PreSonus Eris Studio, either 5 or 8. I am not going to listen too loud, but I am not going to have a woofer, so I am thinking of buying 8 but listening to them at a relatively low volume. What do you think?
I think "Budget" studio monitors that "may" be not quite good enough for a recording environment are a great way to improve one's regular stereo. As "budget" studio monitors will always outperform "budget" speakers. And I don't know why more people don't look to "Pro" equipment for their everyday listening needs as Pro eqpt. is just on a different level, but can be no more expensive these days.
Don’t buy really expensive monitors until you’ve acoustically treated your room. You won’t be able to hear them accurately enough to adequately realize the uplift in performance. Take your $3000 and buy $1500 speakers and spend $1500 on room treatment.
i wanted these instead of hs8's because i was already a fan of the Eris E5 monitors. affordability and great for what they are. the only reason i didn't get them is because they were all sold out XD
The Mackie monitors offer multimedia speaker vibes with only one active and one passive monitor. The Eris studio 8’s on the other hand are both active monitors and are designed to be used in a home studio for recording and music production.
Hi it's been a few months now do you still recommend these or do you have another suggestion, reason asking is im looking for another set of monitors to purchase, great video, thanks
No, absolutely not. If your Monitors are good enuff and you're not out and about to squeeze the deepest bass in there with hiphop or electronic music, you dont need a sub. Also if you mess up your sub settings, you can easily mess up your mix. (Studio 5's here and they are already amazing...)
....it plays back the bass the way it was recorded... normally both speakers play bass as hard to tell where bass is coming from .... most people mix bass on both speakers, 1 may be a bit louder depending on the way it has been recorded... these are very good monitor speakers for the price...use with quad core balanced TRS to XLR cables & plugs for less noise...quad core balanced cables are noise cancelling & well sheilded, quieter & better sounding than standard balanced cables....plenty bass down to 32hz - 35hz, -6db....
Home recording punters don't need studio monitors. Can do an equally good mixing job with 2 different high quality headphones. Save yourself $1000 plus and don't bother with monitor speakers :)

I wanted to do that with the Mackies but the vocals didn't work that well there, far too forward almost separated from the rest of the music which made it difficult to listen to comfortably. I also have to say that these Studio 5s need a bit of time to bed in, out of the box the had next to no bass but after an hour or so the bass loosened up and started to flow. I use these for mostly Gospel Reggae and dance in general and have to say, I will be keeping them. They do get quite warm at the back but that should not be a concern especially if you buy these new with a 3 year warranty. Listen, u can save on everything else, just dont do it on your speakers, save some money another year but trashy cheap things. After u saved a bunch of money buy high quality speakers. 3way system all the way! And if u have the money - genelecs the ones are basically are the best “small” monitors on the planet..
I would love you to buy me monitor speakers plz
Can’t tell the difference lol😂
You lost me when you said the video is sponsored by presonus, don't sell your soul for free stuff,be legit man

my name is Anyanwu Favour and I'm 15 in Nigeria ,I don't have funds to buy music production equipment. please can you help me with music production equipment not funds
The Eris 8XT has a 1 1/4" tweeter not 1"...i have these speakers...used with Van Den Hull OFC Silver Plated quad core TRS to XLR cables, they are quieter than standard balanced cables , a much better sound quality with better noise rejection....i like these speakers as they have a midrange level pot as well as a treble level pot & a good bass management system...i don't use the bass management as i have plenty room...mounted on mass filled Dynaudio speaker stands they sound excellent with no need for a sub as after burning in mine with a burn in CD & lots of Rap music they reach down to 30hz - 32hz, -6db....the 1 1/4" silk dome tweeter with 100° × 60° waveguide is very good giving a more full bodied upper midrange & treble compaired to a standard 1" tweeter.....
sponsered
These videos are stupid its all about how they translate to other audio systems , not what they sound like for general listening
I feel like both sound horrible.
Adam monitor is bery bad ... I don't like Adam
