Thank you for this. Using Cubase and having to sync up music audio with OBS-captured video after the fact is real pain. Note for Cubase users: if reastream-standalone does not show up for you when filtering for VST 2.x Plug-ins (around 4:21 in the video), this can be fixed by copying the reastream-standalone.dll (look in the VST Plug-in Manager for its installed location) to one of the following folders: C:/Program Files/Steinberg/VstPlugins/ C:/Program Files/Common Files/Steinberg/Shared Components/ C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST2 C:/Program Files/Common Files/VSTPlugins/ C:/Program Files/VSTPlugins/ Once I did this, it showed up for me and I now get Cubase audio in OBS.
@DoubtMeTech - Thanks SO much. You included a critical part that many videos on this approach do NOT tell you to do resulting in no sound in OBS audio capture (and in my case !!@@??!! frustration): Set the Cubase or other DAW's master output reastream-standalone plugin to A) "Send Audio/MIDI" and that to B) "local broadcast" The closing tip on closing OBS after recording, then Cubase (or maybe other DAWs that may crash) is also valuable. The reason this plugin could be crashing DAWs - just an uneducated guess here -- is that VST2 is progressively being no longer supported - at least Cubase will be going that way after v.12 as far as I know. Though users have been loudly complaining about this...
Thank you for the advice. I’m using Reaper and it used to work fine. I think I might reinstall the re stream plug in again and see if it works again! I’ll report if it works so if anyone else has the same issue!
hi man, great video exactly what i was looking for, however, done it exactly as described, but im not getting the audio in obs though receive is on.....any ideas, cheers man. it workds with any audio going i to obs, but as soon as cubase is up n running, nothing.....
Finally got it to work with this video but yep, more shit. The signal now comes in incredibly hot. 2023 and they still don't have a user friendly out-of-the-box way of doing something like this, unbelievable
It's actually more dependent on an audio interface which support Loopback functionality. That's why I got rid of my previous audio interface and got an Audient Mk II interface which support loopback. Now I don't have to use this plugin. I have a video for that in my "audio" playlist
Fantastic video. Quick question, would the Abelton live lite 11 daw have a similar setup with that plugin? And would it also have that same crash potential ? Regards, love your studio and Sony camera
Question: restream is not appearing in the filter list on OBS. It appears in Cubase, though. Note: I’ve tried all the different file paths recommended on the website. Any ideas?
Can i connect PC and Mac together? I want to use Mac for live make music in DAW program and my PC I want to use for OBS streeming my music with adding some video camera source or audiovideo bacground file or another live source for my music from Mac. It will be works fine?
Reastream was working fine for ages untill few days ago..when i try to use it the cpu load on my DAW peaks to maximum..not even playback is possible..is there a alternative to reastream ?
I've done this over and over and over again... I just can't get the signal into OBS... No matter what I do. After hours of research and no countless videos (all explaining the same process).I can't get my audio mixer bars to move reading input??? Please someone help
Here's the FIX: If you'll get sluttering or crackling audio - Check your "project setup sample rate" in Cubase - it has to be 48000 kHz/24bit. And your sample rate setup in "OBS sound settings" has to be same! I spent whole evening to find out that this doesn't work with 44100 kHz setup. This is something which should be mentioned in the first place...but no guide about reaplugs did not mention that! Shame.

Literally put the DLL in every single one of those folders and its still missing in OBS. I give up!
You are a sweetheart, worked the easiest, and you really explained clearly.
Fantastic, thanks!

Did you find the solution? I have the same problem

Thanks for the information. OBS will not receive the sound if I minimize the daw. It works fine if I leave daw opened

It appears in Cubase, though.

Wow Can i ad it to presonus daw ex vocals and a guitar from my interface so i Can livestream my Sound

When you starting screen recording, it begins to break and seize....

Same here bro, i'm not seeing the audio signal
Can we still record through the DAW while using obs?
Yes you can
No Reastream option in the OBS drop down folder, it's missing
You have to make sure restream is in Program Files/VSTPlugins. OBS only looks for plug ins in a few folders which to my knowledge can not be modified.
Never works for me
anyone having a problem with this where it's capturing mic audio in addition to the main out of the daw? Doing this on StudioOne
I followed the instructions but OBS is not getting the Audio from Ableton Live. The Realplug in Ableton Live transmits the signal, but OBS does not.
i have the same issue.. signal shows in ableton but not in obs
@@woodsvernon-moore7172 bro. Open your daw and obs as administrator
I must really be doing something wrong. I can hear desktop audio if I play a video, but not audio from my DAW.
OBS gets the signal, but when i try recording or streaming it comes out REALLY stuttering. Totally unusable :/
Change the bitrate up to 320 in audio output
Here's the FIX:
If you'll get sluttering or crackling audio - Check your "project setup sample rate" in Cubase - it has to be 48000 kHz/24bit. And your sample rate setup in "OBS sound settings" has to be same!
I spent whole evening to find out that this doesn't work with 44100 kHz setup. This is something which should be mentioned in the first place...but no guide about reaplugs did not mention that! Shame.
the obs recording result is horrible
