- Today’s feature is a player in 2005 that was considered on the same level as Chris Paul and Deron Williams leaving college, drafted right behind them both in the NBA draft lottery. Raymond Felton was always right there trailing those two, and for about 50 games with the Knicks 2010-11, he may have been right at that level. Doesn’t matter, because leaving high school a lot was expected of Felton. He was the Naismith Prep Player of the year, #1 rated point guard of his class, some even had him the third best recruit in the class, with the likes of Melo, Amare and Lenny Cooke. McDonald’s all American, you name it, Felton accomplished it up to that point and was heading to one a a high school player’s dreams schools North Carolina to feature as their point guard for the next 4 years, or whenever his skills reached NBA level. Fast forward Felton would eventually hit the league a college champion, matured point guard, and given an opportunity to lead a new, young franchise, with all the space in the world to be who he wanted to and compete wit the best at his position year after year, and hopefully at some point lead them to a playoff berth. Unfortunately he wasn’t on may great teams that made use of his complementary talent. Was Raymond Felton A BUST? 3 Reasons His Growth Was Stunted!

To me Raymond was solid. A good dude too, seems cool as a teammate. Young Felton was right there with the top point guards, but never really had a good team around him that he could run in his good years. The Knicks with he and Amare, before Melo, was a great situation and time for him, unfortunately it was New York and they needed that star power Melo would bring. Since he was traded, never was the same since. Not a Bust though.
Melo ... altered / stunted everyone's growth during them days
He was a jumpshot away from being an All-star
Can u do Kenneth faried, renardo Sidney?
You should do a video on Psycho T.
@@futureDreamer4 Now you're talking
Felton played in the NBA for 14 seasons and started in 659 games in the regular season. He’s far from a bust
Quit arguing with yourself
Averaging 11 3 and 5 drafted 5th, them Killian Hayes numbers
@@rellllzzz2473 Ok and? That still doesn’t change what I said. Hayes will be lucky to make it to 14 seasons let alone start in the amount of games Felton did. If you think he’s a bust off of those numbers you don’t know the definition of a bust
I disagree..... He wasn't anything special... Joe Kliene was a goofy ass white boy yet played 10 years and not top 6888889900... By your logic a rapper can drop 10 average albums but because he dropped 10 he deserves props
@Arizona Fire Ent that's not the same logic at all, any fool can get recording equipment and drop an album. You have to be a top ~500 basketball player in the world to even get a roster spot, let alone play and start.
Felton was a good player. He just didn't take care of his body and was on some bad teams. He was the type of point guard you get when you have a team full of scorers
He is stay too long in Bobcats
Sessions, Felton, Hinrich and Ridenour were some amazingly talented solid backup PGs. You could never go wrong with any of them.
Ramon Sessions was nice & definitely Kirk Hinrich nice white boy
Kirk was underrated big time
@@SacrificialLamb444yeah and Felton was a nice black boy
captain kirk! bulls legend
Boyyy Ridenour from the sonics was a dog on 2k. 😂 IYKYK
As a Knicks fan I'll always appreciate Ray for those Knicks tape years. Respect to him
Them knick tape years was lit
As a Knicks fan , I want to vommit
same here specially his first year I thought he was pretty good tbh
@@tupacalypse88 rolly Polly for three
@@UA-camCommentRater ok that's funny I like it 🤣
Felton had a good solid 14 year NBA career, just like Marvin Williams isn’t consider a bust, Raymond Felton isn’t either.
Raymond Felton was a layup cheat code in 2k against my friends he would NEVER MISS
Watched him play in high school. Dude use to pull up and fade away from the volleyball court lines. If you know you know Felton is a goat on all three levels high school college and nba. It’s just the narrative pinned to him for no reason. He is a hero for many
Man he was a beast at UNC..
You should've seen him play at Latta HS. Dude was no Joke!!!
Was a fn problem was the fastest thing since light then Ty Lawson came n was even faster lol
I remember watching grainy high school footage in computer lab in middle school, initially I thought it was old footage of a young Dajuan Wagner. The Charlotte gig went sour after they drafted DJ Augustin, then he found out grass ain't always greener
Dennis Scott (played in Orlando in the 90s)
Reece Gaines (Drafted by Orlando Magic in 2003)
Mike Miller(Magic, Grizzlies, Heat)
Steven Hunter (Drafted by Orlando in 2001)
Scott Skiles (31 assists in one game)
Andrew Nicholson (Drafted by Orlando in 2012)
Mario Hozonja (drafted by Orlando in 2015)
3D Dennis Scott!
Mike Miller I every time I hear his name I see him draining a three with one shoe 😁😁
Felton was a phenomenal player at UNC , he was great at running the point guard position in college. In the NBA he was a role player and did it at a lesser role.
2 State Championships with Latta High School, where he was the tallest player on his team.
I remember I used to sign in @ the gym who I was gonna play like that day…Ray name on a lot of those days..especially UNC Ray..
That's legit bro
All I really have to say I feel like no one said here is that this boy is a 2k11 God!
Do Allonzo Trier . I always wondered what happened to him being in the league because he never really played bad . Went undrafted and ending up getting a deal during his rookie season that equaled first round compensation I believe .
He already did him
He did one on him already
@Jeffrey Juliano 😂😂😂😂 pass whatever u was smoking
@@TruthSpeaker4 on a serious note ‘iso zo’ was nothing to play with a few seasons ago
i think him being undersized and overall just being one dimensional is what did him in
Gahdamn it's been ages since I heard the name Deron Lamb.
I would like to see you feature Josh Childress, came outta Stanford and played with the hawks before going overseas to play
the way the knicks manage to yoyo players is crazy to me. they trade felton and get him back. they traded hardaway jr and got him back. derrick rose, tim thomas if you remember him. theres probably more but its a little odd to me.
I'm born and bred in NC as a true Tarheel fan I loved Felton he wasn't a bust he was 💯
Remember his McDonald’s game…he was the best player on the floor to me.
National championship being born and raised in Marion South Carolina Raymond Felton is the only player to ever make it to the NBA I am proud to say that I know him personally... I thank him for everything that he has contributed to the community to the city and the state.. I thank you stunted growth for doing this documentary on my brother!!!! Raymond bowled out for 14 years and is a mainstay in our lives!!

Great Content very original, timeless work. Definitely appreciate the insight you give on these players. Patiently waiting for you to do Norris Cole...
Had a good career compared to rashad mccants, Sean mean, and the other players from that 04’ North Carolina basketball team
Exactly 💯 May couldn't stay healthy and was out of shape, and McCants was more concerned about being famous than working on his game.
@@rooseveltdarbey9493 big fuckin facts
@@rooseveltdarbey9493 Julius Hodge of NC State used to call Rashad McCants RASHIDA. All for the same reasons you're talking about
May
Definitely not a bust people expected him to be CP3 or Deron Williams and he was not but solid overall
What happened to Kenneth faired? Like he just dropped off the NBA
Solid Textbook Point Guard.... As a North Carolinian I loved him at UNC
You should do my boy Perry Jones 6'11, ranked top player in the nation playing for the top ranked high school team, had handles, and pro comparisons to TMac
I think he did tho
@@vincewilson8969 when??? I haven't seen any videos on him
The Tarheels screwed his game up...he was a beast in high-school..plus he couldn't control his weight in the pros
Yeah Felton had that weird body type just like harden, deron Williams and to an extent Carmelo lile for whatever reason they always look like their one McDonald's big Mac meal from being completely out of shape
How did the Tar Heels screw his game up? He was a beast at North Carolina. His only problem was that he didn't eat right or train correctly.
@@mistermann3225 Hannibal burgess still has yet to answer you....
Thank you for doing a feature on Raymond. Shout out to Latta, SC! Used to watch his dad, Big Raymond, play back in the day😊😊👏👏
Thanks for this video he was one of my favorite PG’s coming out of UNC
another great video my guy, did you do a Deron Williams video????
Idk about bust he was a solid pg for the knicks
Solid role player capable of starting.
He won a championship in college also.it’s hard to win in any level so that’s an accomplishment itself
Eh, I think he gave all he could give. Good solid guard. Stunted growth i don't know about this one. But I get it. Expectations
Facts, he mostly made the most out of his ability
Wrong situations for Felton. Drafted to an expansion team then traded to a dysfunctional organization like the Knicks. Amazing he lasted as long as he did. Good player with Charlotte. The Knicks & OKC
I love them on the knick yo bro I'm happy you made this video
2010-2011 Raymond Felton was a different breed. The chemistry he had playing with Amar'e in D'antoni's PG-friendly system was incredible to watch. Raymond was and is still beloved by Knicks fans (older ones). His conditioning was always a question, in that 2010 season he was in incredible shape, then when we picked him back up just 2 years later his body was different. Still, even in 2012 he always showed up when we needed him. I remember the Knicks playing in Miami w/o Melo and Amar'e and Ray BALLED, had a nasty crossover that game too. He was a smart, tough, hard-working player. A lot of fans were pissed when we signed Felton in 2012 because everyone was still caught up in Linsanity and wanting to bring Lin back, but bringing Felton back was 100% the right call.
Michael Redd is a one time all star who compared to Ray Allen in Milwaukee
Injures hurt his growth and retired early
He wasn't a bust he has a solid career
I went to school with Raymond I played on the J V squad and practice with varsity! I seen first hand every day Raymond will give you the blues!! We would get out of school and it would be people outside in lawn chairs to get into the game at 7:00! Shout out to coach Steve Smith.
Yo I used to go crazy with that Knicks team on 2k13. Raymond Felton was my leading scorer everytime
when I started watching basketball Felton was already out of his prime & a role player I never knew he was considered a top prospect & a top 5 pick
I totally believe if he had stayed in New York with that team before the Carmelo trade his career would've been so much brighter. That team was very very good before that Melo trade.
Please don't undersell Deron William's toxic attitude and running Sloan out of town . Sweetening the BS this dude did is disrespectful to the game
Knicks Felton was a bucket for a lil minute I never even knew he was drafted so high great video🫡🙏🏽
I still have his "autograph" and college room phone number, met him before he got drafted when I was working at Footaction back in the day. Met him through my homeboy Dion. Cool guy. I was supposed to make a suit for him for the draft, he said cool gave me his info. Of course I didn't get to make the suit but its all good.
Didn’t stay in shape or take care of his body…coulda had much longer career
Yep. That's what I mean. Good guard. Probably didn't work as hard as he should've. Plus ain't nobody immune to the drama life gonna bring
@@pineapplegritz7281 AGREED.
Its funny how offended i am that someone (Jay Coleman) would think 14 years in the league is considered "stunted" growth...but thanked you a year ago for doing this video😂
RayGod definitely not a bust he kept him a contract
Can you do a story on
The Texas Guards Bj Armstrong, Roderick Anderson and Terrence Rencher one of the best underrated and other talked about backcourts from UT
Dude was really solid for the Bobcats.
Was nice on the bobcats
Felton was a solid NBA player. There seems to be a lot of hate in this video for my fellow Tar Heel. You didn’t have that same energy for JJ Reddick.🤔
Dude was actually extremely complimentary of Felton and easy on him. You know what Raymond Felton's real growth stunt was. Just look at that stomach getting bigger and bigger as his career went on.
You should do PJ Hairston from Greensboro Dudley and UNC
Pj would always be at the nc pro am around 2010 I think it was, really fun to watch him play and sad he never panned out in the league
been looking forward to this one
“Missed that mark for the first four years of his career” the bobcats were so ass beside Felton. To say he missed it with no context is wild.
Chris Porter from Auburn was a hyper athletic forward that didn't pan out in the NBA
Facts I’m from Marion this legit 🔥🔥
Felton was nice i liked hes game moved pretty fluid for his size
Yup
I don’t really agree with the beginning part, this is definitely the case for a lot of players, but it’s not the case for a lot of players as well. There are a lot of players that got/stayed in the nba with not that much work/effort
Raymond had a good career as a role player, I wouldn’t call him a bust at all, I don’t think anyone expected him to
be a star and I say this as a Tarheels fan
I can’t find the video, but I swear you did a stunted growth on Jerryd Bayless. If I’m just tripping, please do one on him.
You're right I did a while back. had to remove it though. Def gotta do that again
Jerryd Bayless father was Charles Barkley therapist. Seriously
Can you do a stunted growth for leandro barbosa. The blur kills everyone during fiba or world cup tournaments but in the nba yeah he won 6th man of the year and a championship but in the nba his like a great role player.
the caption is craazzyy
Raymond Felton was certainly Not a Bust. He was a solid point guard and floor general. Knew his Role and did it.
Hey jc I'd like to see you do Lenny cook I don't know much about him but I'd like to see the video thanks jc.
Yooo do Wayne Simien from those early 2000s Kansas teams
Raymond Felton was good he played his role and was good at it.
It would be nice to see a stunted growth on his NCAA championship team mate Sean May if you haven’t done him yet
Just had shit luck and a weight problem. I enjoyed watching Felton and Amar'e fighting to stay at .500 during that 1st year with the Knicks. We were getting competent Knicks basketball and I loved it. You could feel a good change was happening then they traded for Melo.
I loved Melo when he was on the Nuggets, but he killed the Knicks team (despite their record greatly improving and making the playoffs as far as the 2nd round) and stopped the development of other players. Most notably Landry Fields. Fields was playing SG and yet was getting 12 rebounds in a game consistently. I saw the potential Fields had. Then Melo arrives and the rebound fun was over.
Man FELTON WAS THE TRUTH on the Knicks first time around. He looked like a point GOD and a all star and ALOT of us was MAD we traded him for Melo because we would be back to having no point guard and Chauncey was cool but Felton had almost DOUBLE his assists at that point so we wanted to keep him and Melo
Can you do Greg Oden ?
Derrick Coleman would be an interesting one. Great videos.
He did him already
I thought that was Tractor Trailer saying he got 2 fat!🤦🏽♂️🤣😂
I would love to see a feature on Michael Carter-Williams. I wonder why he couldn't find a consistent role after Milwaukee
They deleted the build and created Zach lavine 😂
I didn't think he was a bust . Bruh was solid ASF !
Loved Felton. Have to pay respect to these players playing on the biggest stage. Superstars, all-stars or reserves.
That's a sick drive and bucket at 6:50
Think Deron Williams deserves a Stunted Growth soon
U should do one about Tony Wroten from Washington state. I went to school wit him from middle to high school an he was one of tha best player from here but once he got to tha nba, he fizzled out
He already did! Check put his older videos. It’s dope! Shout out to all the hoopers from the town.

My Guy Ray Felt Was Never CP3 Or D Will But He DEFINITELY Had A Really Good Career
Yea he was a perfect fit with that Knicks team.
Raymond felton is a solid role player..
Not a bust
Loved his game at UNC
I'm curious to see you do one on Patrick McCaw my guy is on the deleware bluecoats and i want to see youe take on him seeing as how i sit 6 seats away from him every game and this is my guy for real? Zhaire Smith another sixer/bluecoat who was supposed to be good.
Do carlos Arroyo 👀🔥🔥🔥 we need more international content
Could we get a vid on his nephew Jalek Felton?
I love him on the Bulls, but Andre Drummond probably has a stunted growth in his future.
Felton and Amare where Lit in NY
So underrated i remember him
Raymond was the best Knicks PG we had in a while before Brunson
I got nothing but good things to say about Felton
Wow I didn’t know Felton used to have hops like that lol he definitely gained a lot of weight
He was actually in the dunk contest w Melo and Stat
John Gilrest was my guy Terp fan 😂 best Pg in acc during his era
Can you do Scottie Reynolds or Luther Head
Marcus Keene next !
He benefited from Mike d’antoni system like many other point guards
2K 11 I used to kill it with Felton . NY was my team
Did u do Brandon Roy yet?
Stacey Augmon , J R Reid , Rodney Monroe, Clarence Weatherspoon, Richard Childress, Brian Reece , Tyler Hansbrough, Rashard McCants, Marcus Liberty. Kenny Battle, Charles O'BANNON, Toby Bailey
Do Gary Bell Jr. from Gonzaga!
