Excerpts from SWAN LAKE (choreographed by Matthew Bourne in 1995) performed at the 1997 Royal Variety Performance. Featuring Adam Cooper and Scott Ambler
The ending scene of Billy Elliott is just so wonderful. You see how all the other male ballet dancers are in awe of the grown up Billy and how much they respect his talent.
Imagine Billy's dad (Jackie) and older brother (Tony) in the audience. And his dad's proud face, teary-eyed. Well done, Billy, well done. "Oi, dancin' boy!"
*I just rewatched the movie for like I dunno a THOUSANDTH time and came here, and of course I read your comment and am a wreck again. A good kind of wreck lol*
Yes Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake is an all male cast and the end scene of Billy Elliot where he's grown up I think is actually a shot of the lead swan in this production of Swan lake, Adam Cooper.
I'd always wondered who played the grown up Billy. Although his part is small his scene is the climax of the movie and when you see his leap at the end you know his dancing dream is realized and he is able to share his "electricity" with the audience. Powerful, beautiful and moving.
I saw "Billy Elliott" in 1996, but it was another 28 years before I learned the story behind that strange-looking swan in the last scene . . . . The recording of Bourne's full "Swan Lake" was a revelation and a profoundly moving experience; luckily, I can view it again and again, because I'll never be lucky enough to see a live performance . . . .
It was lovely to see the two Ronnies at the beginning of the clip, both sadly not with us any longer, Christmas in our house was always the Two Ronnies on the box, they replaced Eric and Ernie for our Saturday night viewing as a family when we lost dear old Eric 😢
I love Matthew Bourne's Ballets they are so unique and beautiful, I am so lucky to have seen most of his productions, thank you Matthew, looking forward to Romeo And Juliet.
He has not only gracefully captured an incredibly stunning performance, billie can do what swans do best.. "Look at me, look how majestic I am and how beautiful I am
As a classical ballet dancer, I find this difficult to watch. But, the choreography with all those male dancers is very clever, and difficult to perform. I respect that.
I love this version of Swan Lake. When the cygnets come out they are all goofy and beautiful, just like real young swans would be before they grow up to be graceful and regal.
@Phersephoie I don't really see how you can say the dancing is terrible, I understand it may not be your cup of tea but these dancers are good and I don't see how you can dispute that XO
EXQUISITOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SWAN LAKE ME ENCANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCELENTES BAILARINES Y ADAM COOPER WOOOW TE AMOOOO ADAM MI FAVORITOOOOOOOOOO. XD
I so want to see this. Having just seen the russian ballet do Swan Lake at the Playhouse they were rubbish compared to this. One poor swan even fell down !! Not a patch on these guys.
I think in the final of Billy Elliot it turns out that he takes the role of the swan at Matthew Bourne's swan lake, which is a new version of the traditional ballet. there are some videos of the entire ballet on youtube
Somewhat...the final scene in Billy Elliott does not appear in the actual choreography of this (or any) production Swan Lake. However, having Adam Cooper play the grownup Billy Elliott, limbering up in the wings, quietly focussing, and then leaping onstage in that climactic burst of music was a perfectly spine-tingling finale to the movie.
Of course! The great ballet dancer Adam Cooper performs the ending scene of Billy Elliot (the movie). And yes, on those few moments of that final scene, where Billy's father is watching his son's debut, they were certainly choreographed by Mattew Bourne, following his own version of Swan Lake. I recommend you watching Adam Cooper's performance of it. Awesome.
7:03 Hahahhahahahahahaaha The one with the feet on the air forgot to put i in the right positon hahahahaha Poor guy, he dances so well ^^ Well, no one notced so.. ^^ Great ancing :D

It's not all male, but all the swans are male, yes.
you're perfectly right, it is Adam Cooper, lead dancer with Swan Lake production, in the final scene of Billy Elliot film
……yes, Adam Cooper of Sadler’s Wells Ballet………
I would love to see this live before I leave this world with really great seats.
If anybody gets the chance to see Matthew Bournes's Swan Lake live, please do. It is absolutely amazing and well worth the money.
I totally agree…absolutely mesmerising ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes!! I agree! I saw it in Edinburgh during the Fringe Ferstival! Unforgettable🤩!!

All the fathers sacrifice is rewarded the second his son flies across the stage

Yes real show would be fantastic but the Making of the movie Billy Elliot is great. Watched it so many times.
My granddaughter was so impressed (and was surprised when he went to ballet school had to keep his grades up and family be engaged with his work.

The greatest "Swan Lake". Later version are also great. Thank you Mr Mathew Bourne and wonderful dancers.❤️❤️❤️
Thank you too!
A magical and captivating performance!
Their movements during 'The Dance of the Little Swans' are amazing! I love the combination between graceful movements and waddling.
Those young guys did a great job. Such synchronicity and precision.
Es una versión hermosa. Le quitó un poco la rigidez de la versión original

Yes it is Adam Cooper there is no mistaking his distinctive looks even in makeup.
I am so happy to have seen this! Thank you!
They are all so graceful. They make it look effortless when you know it takes years of training and practice. Beautiful.
A really entrancing interpretation, of a classic! Bravo Matthew Bourne!
Have seen the last production 3 times live the most spectacular and emotional ballet and performance ever
Wonderful
I cry every time I watch that same part. At least 11 times. Felt it should have shown a little
more but that was the magic that kept you wanting
Adam Cooper rocks!
Ikr
I can only imagine his father and brother in the audience.
These boys are now in their 40s and 50s, and it goes by so quickly, doesn't it
Li ho visti dal vivo a Milano parecchi anni fa...erano stupendi 🫶meravigliosi cigni pieni di grazia🥰
I love Matthew Bourne's Ballets they are so unique and beautiful, I am so lucky to have seen most of his productions, thank you Matthew, looking forward to Romeo And Juliet.

Predstava je Božanstvena,čisti užitak i melem za dušu❤

Scott Ambler, RIP, my dear Friend. 💙
This is about SO much more than Billie Eliot! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Visto all'Arcimboldi a Milano un po' di anni fa...spettacolo indimenticabile ❤
I love this version of Swan Lake. When the cygnets come out they are all goofy and beautiful, just like real young swans would be before they grow up to be graceful and regal.

My favourite film. I love when he and his dad are giggling.. If I change my mind can I come back... Dad says we've let out your room 😮
Your Family is here billy 💖
Like Billy Elliots dad I found this performance a bit, you know sissy. Funny how I watched it all to the very end!
"Oi, dancing boy!"
Beautiful!
Recently been to see a production of Swan Lake in our local theatre in Torrox, Spain. Would love to see this production.
We need a grown up billy sequel all the dancing etc updates on the fam etc maybe him mentoring a new dancing boy
it's funny how the choreography acts more like swans than the actual ballet... :D i love it!!
Amo a Billie Eliot y a su familia y su padre ahogado en llanto💐🌹🌷🌷🌺🌺🌺🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🏵️🏵️🌻🏵️🌼🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢🦢

Just watched billy elliot. the end of that movie fucks me up each time, had to look up the dance ;)
It doesn't affect me at all. I just coincidentally get grit in my eye every time I watch it.
@@tomsdottirSame. Someone always seems to be cutting up onions when I watch the ending.
I love that pas de quatre!
@Phersephoie I don't really see how you can say the dancing is terrible, I understand it may not be your cup of tea but these dancers are good and I don't see how you can dispute that XO

Incredibilmente bello. Io l'ho visto
Is this excerpt somewhat related to the final scene of Billy Elliot the movie? The costume and makeup were soooooo similar.

me encanta etoy facinada .
Kinda cool that the dance is call Swan Lake and that the dancers sort of look like swans in the way they move.
We totally agree!
There's quite a lot of counterpoint in this music by Tchaikovski....I never realised it before.
Superbe ballet: scenario, choreography, dancers.
