@@austinhood The service engine light comes up when you remove the factory tbi/tpi harness and ecu from the car. Only thing you can do about it is remove the bulb. This happens on all carb swaps, ls swaps(regardless of FI or carb). Obviously, the car isn't completely done since there's no headliner.

Using a ls fbody t56 it bolts right up using ls FBody clutch and flywheel assembly. Since the 4.8-6.0 are all ls based engines it’s all pretty easily swapped around.

Joe M yes this is a 01 LM7 5.3 with a 2000 fbody t56. Using a Jegs Ls1 flywheel and a centerforce DFX clutch. You could use the fbody flywheel and clutch kit though.

MrJohn613 no clue it’s some wiring issue I believe. Ses light staying on but hook up HPT and no codes thrown or saved. I’m also still having issues with turn signals not working correctly. Think I have a messed up ground somewhere.
@@screaming86 yes i was also recently considering grounds, after swapping the engine. from factory the harness and engine both have ground straps but i threw the old v6 body-to-engine ground strap away. my first 85 had a bad ground in the tail light harness, the reverse lights and even the tail lights would flash with the signals lol. its funny how a lack of connection causes things to illuminate but yeah bad grounds to funny things, especially if in the dash / cluster

Smitty's channel the only ones that would be different are the early iron headed 6.0 truck engines. They had a longer crankshaft. I’m using a centerforce dfx ls1 style Clutch 01 t56 bolted to a 2001 5.3

Gleo Runyon 3rd yes the car has a 6 speed also. The posted speed limits In he areas driven are a max of 55 only in a couple of spots during this video. At the time the trans had a bent shift fork for 5/6 and 5th gear would not work. 6th would have lugged the car around below 60mph

Well I bought all my stuff a little here and there and used a lot of used stuff and good deals on things. I think I have just shy of $4000 in my swap with t56 good clutch tick master cyl long tubes full 4" exhaust cam kit engine and everything to make it work in the car and run. It can be done much cheaper or more expensive depending on what you want. It would be cheaper to buy a donor 4th gen for 3-6k then part it out.
What transmission you use and what did you have to do to get it to match up to the 5.3. Another youtuber said he used an 01 Silverado lm7 with a t56 out of a 2002 camaro but I’m not finding that t56 only 97 at the latest.
Rico Washington the engine is a 01 lm7 5.3 the transmission is a 00 or 01 t56 from a 4th gen fbody. You will need a 98-02 fbody t56 for a direct bolt up. Yes they had a t56 in the 93-97 fbody but the front plate bellhousing and I put shaft is different. The GTO mn12 t56 will work with the 98-02 fbody bellhousing and tailhousing and shifter

LevelUpLiving I am using 3rd gen pedals and a tick master cyl for a 4th gen. Need to modify the pin on the pedal for this. You will need a ls based t56 or be prepared to spend good money converting the lt1 style t56 to work. I’m using a centerforce DFX clutch for a ls car

Could be the clutch slave needing bled more or shimmed. I suspect mine needs shimmed I just have never messed with it.

Pretty easy just need to swap to the v8 mounts for a thirdgen. The wiring will be the hardest part but there are plenty of write ups.

Yes. However the trans itself is from a ls1 car too. I believe the bellhousing and trans came from a 2001 camaro.

@@screaming86 okay I'm getting the 5.3 from a 2001 Silverado. And getting the lt1 t56. Now are you using the stock 3rd gen clutch and pedals or 4th gens.
LevelUpLiving I am using 3rd gen pedals and a tick master cyl for a 4th gen. Need to modify the pin on the pedal for this. You will need a ls based t56 or be prepared to spend good money converting the lt1 style t56 to work. I’m using a centerforce DFX clutch for a ls car

what intake manifold are you running to fit that engine under the stock hood?
It has an ls1 fbody intake manifold. Most stock intake will fit. Even the truck intakes with a little bit of trimming.
