My fondest memory of MASK was getting the toys. My Mom died when I was relatively young. But one time, she and I went on a vacation that sucked, so we blew off our plans, went to a Toys R Us (they didn't have any where I lived then) and she bought me all the Wave 1 vehicles. We had pizza sent to our hotel, and just stayed in and played with the MASK toys.
MASK was my all time favorite cartoon and toy line when I was a kid. So much, that when I was 11 years old I wrote KENNER and asked if I could be in one of their commercials, because they were cool to watch as well. In turn KENNER sent me a return letter and the Dynamo vehicle from the up and coming Split Seconds line which was unreleased at the time. I still have it today along with the rest of the collection
Back when a cartoon could be just though, a cartoon. Thankfully we didn’t have these OPINION based videos that have a host barely old enough to recall said cartoon. 🙄 leave my childhood alone.
there is a back story episode that explains calling their helmets masks and wearing them at a round table permission. The power crystal that charges their tech was gifted to Matt's father by an African tribe that wore mud masks so they built the tech to honor the original owners of component #1
I grew up on Mask and I absolutely loved the cartoon and the toyline! I loved how each character was granted a different power based on the mask that they were wearing and that all of their vehicles transformed into an attack mode. This show rocked and I simply cannot wait for the live action film along with the Hasbro Cinematic Universe! Things are about to go down in a big cool 80’s way for the modern age!
This video is hard to watch. I’m all for adding humor to these videos but this attempt at comedy is more annoying than funny. Sarcasm works in small doses, not for 15 minutes straight.
Toys like these hold such fond memories of a simpler time when my parents played with me. I miss my father greatly, he helped bring these toys to life for me as a kid.
Wow, so shes not even going to mention gloria Baker. I realize that she wasn't in as many episodes and vanessa and, only has a cameo in the second season, but she did exist
A lot of things they’re pointing out as odd were totally commonplace at the time too. Every weekday cartoon had 65 episode seasons. And M.A.S.K.’s theme song was not only very of its time but was AWESOME!
Transformers was copied from a Japanese toy line. In Japan Megatron was a good guy-he came from a toy line called Microman and Optimus came from a different toy line called Diaclone. And just like MASK the Transformers show was for the toy line. Why? To make money. If you don't sale toys the cartoon looses money and is cancelled. And what's wrong with making money on toys and cartoons? It gives people jobs-toy makers in Japan, transportation works all over the world, retail stores, etc. It creates JOBS and children love the cartoons and the toys-as did I. JOY AND JOBS that's a WIN WIN for everyone.
I have read an article where Seth Green tells a childhood story about being at a trade show seeing that the actor at the M.a.s.k. booth was away and just walking up and taking over telling people he was Scott Tracker and that his dad was the leader of this awesome action hero team ( and you should pick up this show for syndication- like you do at a trade show)
Jackie Jennings does a decent enough job trying to act like she knows what she's talking about; but I agree with some of the other commenters, this comes off as condesending. Jackie is very good, but it seems pretty obvious she doesn't care. You can almost read the WTF on her face as she speaks her lines. I think the main reason the video is a bit snooty is that it's titled "Everything You Didn't Know" which by nature suggests that it's aimed at people who are already familiar with the property. However, we don't start talking about odd factoids until nearly 10 minutes into the fifteen minute video! What's left leaves a couple minutes for the voice of the show and about 3 minutes for the writers. Some mildly interesting stuff at the end but way too little and even that is only mildly related. Telling me "Hey, this thing existed!", making fun of it, and then relating to other things you may or may not heard of does not a good "Everything you didn't know" video make. Thumbs down.
MASK was somewhat different. Team of secret agents driving transforming vehicles. Tracker is a a single parent after his wife’s passing. While his kid’s robot transforming scooter, was goofily ripped off in live-action Transformers 5. Yet the series was based on the toys. A live-action film is in the works.
Thanks for the vid. Born in 1980, so I was one of the kids glued to watch this show and beg my parents for the toys. Now I'm browsing through ebay to relive my childhood.
@@ericcampbell4211 i disagree, i watch cartoons all the time and there have tons of fantastic cartoons. A lot of cartoons these days have real sharp writing, and if you gave them actual chances you'll find they are real enjoyable as adults.

I think out of all the amazing toys of the 80’s, MASK has to be at the very top of the best of the best! What made MASK so great was that it combined elements of GIJoe, Transformers, And There is even a super hero flair thrown in to make it that much more awesome! The cartoon was fun but the toys are what made MASK so memorable! I couldn’t get enough of the toys growing up. If I were to start collecting toys again, MASK is where I would start because who doesn’t like vehicles that Transform into other vehicles!
Look, it was a cartoon in the 80s. I loved playing with the toys and the cartoons they were a part of my childhood. Still cant believe MASK hasnt been remade or turned into a movie.
who cares if they were just a commercial to sell toys. It was awesome. I actually liked the race season better. Especially the russian guy that drove the Kenworth style eighteen wheeler truck.

If I'm correct, M.A.S.K. was wrapped into the GI Joe lore as a division of the Joes with Matt Tracker being retconned as having been a former Joe member. VENOM was, if I remember correctly, backed, at least financially, by COBRA...
First off, what cartoon wasn't made to sell toys? Even Shirt tales and Snorks had toys. The GI Joe aspect could have been taken further as Kenner was bought by Hasbro in '91 and Matt was given a GI joe toy as advanced vehicle specialist in 2008. When messing with the toys you had Stinger but than afterwards said we have some venom vehicles...Stinger is a venom vehicle. Having a few actors to do a large amount of roles is not anything new to most cartoons, their called voice actors. Go see how many voices Frank Welker can do. An yes Kommand was spelled with a K, take that Mortal Kombat.
I still have a few of the figures but no vehicles. And wherever my grandparents’ old Jeep Cherokee is now I assume it still has my Bruce Sato stuck down in the heating vent.
I loved MASK! It was one of those shows that I always wondered how I could have done the show if I was in charge! The show would still be interesting now! We need a live action movie of MASK right now! I would love to see it in theaters and on DVD!!!
I felt the same way about M.A.S.K. I would think how I could have change a few things here and there. I also did the same thing with Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. Always watched these two shows.
As a kid in the 80s, i still remember this show today and still listen to the theme on youtube. I had the toys then but sadly not anymore. It was one of my favorite shows then even though i can barely remember an episode or all character names now. I still hope they do the live action movie though and make it damn awsome. The cast will be tough who will play them right. I had a bunch of the toys but I didn't watch the show to much because it came on in the morning when I was getting ready for school. I never got to see the end of the episodes because I had to catch the bus.
Wow, I didn’t know that. True story, when I was about 10, me and my two buddies did a whole Mask and GI Joe teamup adventure with all our Mask and GI Joe toys. Who knew were ahead of our time!
I wanted the M.A.S.K toys the day they came out. But the only one I could ever get was the Brad Turner Condor figure and motorcycle. It was the only figure I could get. But it was cool! I wish I could have gotten more than I did.
I have fond memories of MASK. Even though I was in my teens when the cartoons and toys came out. But, what can I say? My love of animated action cartoons and toylines never left me. I enjoyed watching the MASK shows. But the only toy I ever got was Thunderhawk and Matt Tracker. Other than that, I remember getting the small figures of Buddy Hawks and Alex Sectors? (I'll have to watch the show to get their names right) on small cards because they came with a playset that I know my mom wouldn't have let me buy. That's as far as my desire to collect them goes for one reason. Whenever there is a cartoon series designed to sell toys, I have never understood why there would always be at least one of two characters that the manufacturers choose not to make. In the racing toys part of MASK, they finally made Vanessa Warfield and her car Manta. BUT they NEVER made Gloria Baker and her Shark vehicle. If they had, I would have been trying to collect all the toys. So they lost money from me being a customer because they didn't make the whole set. Another example is G.I.JOE. Hasbro made all the figures who appeared in the cartoon except Big Lob in G.I.JOE The Movie. Big Lob was eventually made into a figure YEARS later. But too late for my interests. One final note, Matt Tracker definitely reminded me of a blonde haired version of Bruce Wayne in the latter episodes of Batman: The Animated Series. And Miles Mayhem reminded me of General Ross on the Hulk comics and cartoons. Best of all, I loved the MASK theme song. Definitely a sign of the rock n roll 80's.
Oh, I've never had any problem with the educational PSA's at the end of all those shows when I was a kid/teen. What I mind is that they didn't follow us as we grew up. I could have used Picard or Sisko ending Trek episodes by turning to the screen and telling me the basics of balancing a checkbook or telling me how much I was suppose to tip when dining out.
I had seen (I'm guessing it was a bumper) where it was an animated snake with some music. The guy was singing something like "girl I like your diamond skin". I was wondering if that's a real song and what the name of it is.
MASK is my childhood I was a big fan and I got out of bed tomorrow to watch TV. I still have a lot of toys and I have played a lot with it. I have the 2 seasons on DVD, that's the real MASK the race was not fun. I can't wait for the movie to come out, I'm very curious about how that will be. MASK was really great !!!
Pretty sure every cartoon and/or animated movie is designed to separate parents from their money...these cartoons were awesome, better than anything kids get today!!!
My younger brother had a few toys, and watched the show, for a little bit. I remember thinking, that I wish my toys were that cool, when I was younger. Ok, I admit I played with them a little. I wished my brother had the car.
I used to watch MASK as a kid but never had the toys. In fact, I don't think I even knew they had toys. I guess that was the good thing with the 80s, because you could totally not know about certain things.
My fondest memory of MASK was getting the toys. My Mom died when I was relatively young. But one time, she and I went on a vacation that sucked, so we blew off our plans, went to a Toys R Us (they didn't have any where I lived then) and she bought me all the Wave 1 vehicles.
This show was really cool I still have a few of the toys.
I had seen (I'm guessing it was a bumper) where it was an animated snake with some music. The guy was singing something like "girl I like your diamond skin". I was wondering if that's a real song and what the name of it is.
I loved M.A.S.K. as a kid.
OMG please lmk how to get my hands on those toys. I had half of them on the table as a kid. Been looking for them forever.
ebay is your best bet here.
Pretty sure every cartoon and/or animated movie is designed to separate parents from their money...these cartoons were awesome, better than anything kids get today!!!
Not better than The X-MEN TAS.
Honestly, I absolutely loved MASK. I mean, does it hold up, no, of course not. But back then I was more into it then G.I. Joe. Sting was my favorite.
Anyone here remembered VISIONARIES too? Maybe SYFY WIRE should do one episode talking about it as well.
i love this show, please remake it, send the toys my way please
I think MASK is perfect for a Thunder Cats type reboot. (Not the current one, the 2011 verison)
Give it a few years, MASK / GI Joe / Transformers universe gets the Titans Go treatment
I loved mask back in the days
Love the appreciation for a beloved show from the 80s, next time please find a better host.
I remember an episode of bugs eating tech and machines... A helmet was used to attract them and placed in a box.
love this cartoon saw it when i was 19 in 2003 on boomerang it was a great cartoon
Facepalm this video. MASK was (and still is) awesome.
This needs a reboot now.
