I spy a Lauten Clarion (or Atlantis?) in the background! I'm excited to see what you think of that one. That's been my go-to vocal mic for years. More related to this video, a friend just lent me a pair of these C80s the other day, so this video was perfect timing for me! I can't wait to try them out for myself!
Yea that’s a clarion I’ve been stoked on this thing. I actually just got an Eden. Excited to try! The Sony is totally different. But still super cool. And stupid cheap. Lol.
I need to get you to try out and review my SE Electronics drum mic kit. I'm telling you man, those things have a great sound! Also, I like this mic you shared with us, might have to get one!
I like it. But and there is always a giant a$$ butt. If I have $500 to spend on a mic and wanted that c800g sound I get the Slate virtual mic. It has a really great c800g emulation along with a killer 251, u67 and killer c12 emulations at the push of a button. Not to mention you can get more cool emulation for it. But if you know you love the c800g sound and thats all you want.... yeah this does a good job.
Great demo! I have a somewhat unusual question. I already own the "Slate Digital Virtual Microphone System," which includes the C800G, and I'm quite satisfied with it so far. However, I'm wondering if it's still worth purchasing the actual Sony C80 microphone. As we know, virtual microphone systems rely on frequency matching techniques, which may compromise aspects such as frequency response, polar pattern, off-axis response, and sensitivity. I haven't had the chance to compare it with the big brother, the Sony C800G. Could anyone offer some advice on this? Thanks!
I´ve been using the C-80 for a couple of months and have been tracking A LOT of songs with it (only vocals tho) Pros: Really forward and present, easy to place in a mix, takes processing really good, great for that "modern" sound Cons: the low mids can be a little too much sometimes The C-80 is a great mic I enjoy spending time with it, works stupid good on female or higher pitched voices since it´s quite low heavy. Looking to buy into a more expensive tube mic next time, eyeing the Lauten Eden for my next buy, probably in a year or two!
Is that a Lauten I see in your back ground? Do you have the Atlantis and are you doing a review? I am about to pull the trigger on one and would like to get your advice
I just bought this mic from Sweetwater and having a hard time getting a good sound on my acoustic guitar. I’ve spent hours trying to position it all over. Very harsh
Thanks for the response! I actually sought out this mic because I read it’s bright as my guitar is very dark. I ended up figuring out an eq in my interface software that works beautifully now.
Hey, thanks for the comparison. I just recording my first Album in a pro studio with a AKG c414. I'm a rapper and there was a U87 at the stufio but I preferred the sound of the 414 so I did the album with that mic. Soon I'll be looking to purchase my own mic for a home studio and was looking at the 800g but then discovered the c100 and c80. How does the c80 compare to the 414?
@@smileynoreally for clarity u would go for sony c80 or c100, for more of a balanced sound then akg c414, for a more vintage 414 sound id get an advanced audio cm414 which emulates the akg c414eb
I have the SM7B. Only get it if you are okay with the high noise floor when speaking at a normal volume. It needs so much gain that the noise floor ends up being very audible. I am going to be trying the NT1 5th Gen.
beautiful vocal sound... this is amazing thanks for this content
Very present and forward. Lots of low end usability there too.

Great as always! Love seeing the klanghelm it’s the goat🤘
🐐🐐🐐
oh man! a pair of those would be great to have! 👍
A lot darker than I expected. Would like to hear it mixed with more air, which is what I associate with a C800G.
How’s it the mic
The c800g has a Center terminated capsule like the c48

Great stuff fella, great insight. 👍

It’s definitely not a c800g. You get that flavor.

That’s a clarion. I also have an Eden which will get a video soon.
I haven’t tried the Atlantis

If your guitar is naturally bright this probably wouldn't be a good match. anything in the vein of the c800 is super bright

totally different. even the 414 has tons of versions in a of itself.
@@RecordingStudioLoser I'm recording with a C414 B-ULS. As a rapper what's important to me is clarity

@@drillgirl718 Thank you for the tip!
C80 vs Clarion, which do you like better for vocals?
Clarion. But that’s not really apples to apples. The c80 cost half as much.
@@RecordingStudioLoserI prefer the C-80 over my u87ai and my TLM-103

Did you do most of the Allen Kincaid stuff?
No none of his released material.
Your not a loser bro 😊
Better than Aston Spirit?
Absolutely
Ive Heard the c800g clone by stam-audio sounds even better than the original sony mic
I got it, and it doesn’t! Disappointing, I’m selling it ! And waited hella long for it
Really nice sounding mic, especially for the price. Hmmmm......I see you're still using Pro Tools.
Sony C-800G aka instant bankruptcy if you live outside 🇺🇸 😂
Also inside
As a Panamanian, it costs all my savings, so yeap
Bro after so many testing you're still in pro tools?
I have a perpetual license for the studio. Other people work there. Pro tools will probably stay there. On my personal machine I’m using studio one.
hmm guy talks about a mic but during the part where he talks doesn't talk into the mic
It’s not really billed to be a dialogue mic. It would be my first choice for that so why do it.
Oh my gosh, recording drums with one microphone. You Sinner.............
It’s just 9 Hail Marys. We good
