    I have been thinking about trying out NRL22 for a couple years now and this video series has absolutely sealed the deal. This looks fun as hell and should prove to be a great skill-builder for me. Entertaining and informative content; please keep it coming!

      Great to hear! It really is a fun sport. Enough moving around to make it interesting, but cheaper to participate in than the bigger centerfire matches. I put out match videos every month as well as strategy/tip/techniques so stay tunned!

    This video earned a sub.
    I am wanting to get into NRL22 and have been researching for months. I picked up a Bergara BMR carbon for very cheap, but might change to a different rifle. Thanks for making so many videos based on this, it is helping me a lot!

    I have a Ruger (OEM untouched) RPR 22 rimfire, i saw people laugh at me at the range, until i was done shooting against them. And there`s the proof right here in this fella`s video, that you don`t have to spend 5 or 10 grand on a custom 22 rimfire to have fun, and whoop some a$$es along the way. My Ruger RPR out shoots my best CZ457`s most of the time.

      It certainly is a fun one to shoot and doesn't have to break the bank. You run the risk of hurting some egos though! haha

      @jarink1 5 місяців тому

      The RPR's biggest problem is the "Precision" part of it's name. For some reason people think that it means it's a high-end gun when in reality it's a simply a good budget target rifle. Mine shoots OK, but it is very sensitive to ammunition. (It likes Norma Tac-22 best.)

    Dang that looks fun. I can’t wait to try this. I just got my CZ 457 Varmint MTR. Just need my scope base and ARCA rail from Area 419 now.

    Good shooting! Also shooting RPRR. Here in South Africa we don't have separate classes at this stage. So shooting with an RPRR you could compete against fully kitted CZ457's

    Seen something similar at a club match but it was a Marlin Simi auto. The shooter and his Marlin rifle beat Remingtons 40x and 540x and Anschutz and Winchester 52s . Hunter Bench rest match for score at 50yds.

    Another great video. Wish I had a range setup like yours. I only practice once a month, at a local range that allow a few of guys, and gals to practice for NRL or PRS. Sometimes it can be slow with only one or two guys or ladies that show up. Should take props into the bush and try to practice with an A-frame ladder.🪜

      Thanks! I do most of my practicing in the back yard. This video was shot at the match. I have videos on how you can make scaled dry fire targets.

    Good shootin! A small tip for you though... send your bag rests into the next shooting position. Then you`ll waste less time having to reach for it. Time is everything in competition.
    I smile every time my Ruger Precision rimfire beats the rich boys toys. And it is often enough that they hate me every time they see me pull in, lol. All OEM, no trick parts added.
    I have a custom build CZ457, all dressed up, my Ruger Precision rimfire kicks its ass. The RPR i have runs perfect. You either got a good one, or you don`t.
    YES, the RPR`s CAN, compete, and for a hell of alot less $$$ for the same fun.

    I dont compete, but the prairie dogs HATE when i show up within 300 yards, with my rpr and consistent ammo, thankfully they even run the cheap(er) bulk stuff pretty well, and accurate too.

  • @davidnelson9568
    @davidnelson9568 Рік тому +3

    Way to go and good job representing the RPR..... What ammo did you settle on??????

    • @CopperStarPrecision
      @CopperStarPrecision  Рік тому +2

      Thanks! I settled on the SK Rifle match which had the second best groups from the lot testing (and it was the ammo I have the most of which was a huge plus). Off camera I tested 5 more lots of various Eley ammo and it did have good accuracy at all. I have about 3k rounds of the SK left so I used the tuner to tighten up the groups (future video coming on that). I'll keep running with this until I can make a trip down to the Lapua testing center since Center-X showed a lot of promise. Buying a case at a time is a big upfront cost, but it should provide enough rounds for 2 years+ of matches and practice.

    • @CopperStarPrecision
      @CopperStarPrecision  11 місяців тому

      Final score on the NRL22 stages was 473 which ended up being the 6th highest score in the country for Base Class. If you're looking to get into base class I would also take a hard look at the CZ457. I run a CZ in Open Class.

    • @AFROSNIPERX
      @AFROSNIPERX 11 місяців тому

      If I may ask, why don’t you recommend the Ruger for this?

    • @CopperStarPrecision
      @CopperStarPrecision  11 місяців тому +2

      @@AFROSNIPERX i still would, but people have had mixed success with the Ruger Rimfire rifles. I happen to like it, but the consistency and reliability of the CZ is hard to beat. I have a whole video that I made last year where I compare base class rifle options as well as build series on what I did to the Ruger Rimfire rifle that I used.

    What distance would you zero the scope at on the Ruger?
    Just picked one up and getting a vortex venom optic.
    Everything I see online always refers to centre fire saying 100 yard.

    • @CopperStarPrecision
      @CopperStarPrecision  11 місяців тому

      50 yard zero for rimfire. With most ammo, your 50 yard zero will also be zeroed at 25 yards. For targets between 25 and 50 yards you will either need to dial DOWN or hold UNDER. Everything past 50 yards you're dialing up or holding over.

    Great shooting! I have been interested in shooting NRL22 for a while and just picked up my rifle. I assume you are here in Arizona, where are you located? Any advice on who to contact to get started would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    • @CopperStarPrecision
      @CopperStarPrecision  Рік тому

      Yes, I am in AZ (Phoenix). Most matches are listed on Practiscore which is where you would sign up for a match. There's generally a NRL22 or PRS Rimfire match each weekend of the month at different ranges (Phoenix Rod and Gun, Ben Avery, Rio Salado, Yuma Match Masters, Gunsite, etc.). There are also many NRL22 Facebook groups for each of the clubs.
      You can also look on the NRL22 website for a list of participating clubs and most will have contact info for the match director. I would suggest contacting them to express your interest and they can give you more information.
      You can always come spectate a match and talk to fellow competitors, but if you have a rifle, scope, ammo, and some data on your DOPE you should just sign up and learn by doing. If you do sign up ask the match director to place you in a squad of more experienced shooters and they will help you out and let you borrow bags and other gear.
      Not sure if I will make it to the October matches, but I hope to meet you at the Nov/Dec matches. Let me know if you plan on going and we can squad together.
      Cheers.

    i have the ruger precision rimfire, it has the vortex venom ebr 2c ffp reticle, accutac bipod and fab gradus grips. everything is pretty much stock. do you think this can compete with the cz 457 with aftermarket triggers?

    • @CopperStarPrecision
      @CopperStarPrecision  11 місяців тому +1

      I still think it is a very capable platform, but with anything rimfire it comes down to lot testing ammo and finding the best type for your particular rifle. Ammo availability, especially the higher end ammo, is still a challenge to find. A lot tested Ruger will beat a CZ running cheap ammo any day.
