I consider a shoutout from Backlogs to be the highest form of praise possible. Considering you are the reason I started playing S&S in the first place this was beyond exciting to see. Oh and trust me, I saw the potato run. Let's just say that specific challenge has not made its way onto my to do list lol.
This ground...I remember this ground. The scent in the air that never left, always by my side but I only now realize...it's stronger now. Overwhelmingly strong, and yet it's not overpowering. It coats me like the sweat upon my skin after a summer day, but without the unpleasant sensations. It's then I realize where I am as the salt upon my feet clings to me. I'm home...not for a long time, but enough that the old times feel like they were yesterday and I see how I've changed. Nothing unrecognizable and yet so different all the same. It feels...good.
I may be new to this ground... these lands, but I have heard the stories of those who came before me. The stories of thousands upon thousands of people, all come to this place for one thing or another. Some came for challenge, others for salt, and yet more for glory... But the two of you... The two of you intrigued me. Why did you appear time and again? What was it you were searching for? But now... Now I understand. And that understanding brings me my own questions to answer... Among them is one I intend to answer soon. Can you beat Salt and Sanctuary, without using weapon buffs?
As someone who joined the party late. It was really nice to see this window into your past Lemon. To see one of the OG game you were passionate about and literally wrote the wiki for. Thanks for sharing your past with us Lemon. I'm sure it was enjoyable all around. Nostalgic for the OG followers and exciting and new for those who came after. Thank Again Lemon.
Now I'm imagining the Firebomb Goddess walking in on Lemon pretending to shave a knight helmet and the awkwward silence to follow. Lemon: Oh, hi honey, just, uh...filming something for a sponsorship. Firebomb Goddess: *slowly backs out and closes the door*
Such a strange state of affairs, your old videos ringing in the back of my head. Your runs pulling me through my fifth try of the game to finally beat it. A sudden cry for old nostalgic Lemon, only to see that you truly never left. Thank you, mate, for a nice return to form. This is exactly what I needed for a start of a new week
I love seeing S&S back on the channel again and am reminded how nice the enhanced mode is. Seeing the disembowled husk flop into the abyss at the end gave me a good laugh.
@@destructocat1960 just to give you a quick idea, ever since the latest update and dlc release, there has legitimately been multiple 30 min+ UA-cam videos ranking the new bugs
It was nice to not only see more SnS content, but the discussion about comfort games too. I don't really have ones I know front to back, but there's certainly some I put down years ago that can always put a smile on my face. I was going to replay one of them soon, actually. Anyway, keep being you, your videos that I've watched before are great for unwinding/when I'm having trouble sleeping
We're so back babyy!!! When I first discovered your channel you did salt and sanctuary videos and this feels really nostalgic Love your new videos too, but the old ones just have a special charme to me
aw yeah; another wholesome challenge run! Also; the phoenix tail, my beloved. Such a cool weapon for spellsword build. Basically a fiery Ivy Sword: and it’s beautiful.
I did not expect this game again on this channel, that nostalgia hits different. I only found you when I was searching for S&S Content, and I was one of your first 200 subs. Nice to See you have come this far!
I think this marks the first time I did something before you. I've beat the game with whips pre-enhanced and post enhanced. I usually end up spreading my stats out to dex, wisdom, and magic so I can use both the holy whip and the magic one. And the randomizer has been a nice change of pace since I didn't have anything else to do in this game.
Same lol my first playthrough was the Hunter and I just kept the whip and crossbow for the whole game. My favorite build is poison whip with poison crossbow bolts.
Now, how long has Lemon owned the helmet for the ad-read? That's the real question. Btw, have you tried playing Death's Gambit? I don't know much about Salt and Sanctuary, but it reminds me of Death's Gambit, which I recommend.
I don't know why but this was slightly emotional considering I found the backlogs when the potato run came out... Fond memories indeed, The salt seems to have run thin... But it shall keep flowing like a river, on and on until the last memory of it dissipates...
Man, that's nostalgic. Salt & Sanctuary is how I found your channel a few years ago and I actually bought the game because of your runs - despite usually avoiding platformers. 2 years or so later and I'm still playing. It's quickly reaching the echelon of most replayed games in my library. I definitely never got as deep into it as you (in fact, I actually learned something in this video, regarding Skourzh' AI) but I'm having SO much fun with it. It indeed became a sort of comfort game for me. Sidenote, my first run in the Enhanced update actually was a whip run, because of the added tipper and slightly modified hitbox. A very fun run, even though I most definitely supplemented it with a flintlock for good measure. So yeah, thanks for getting me into it!
I did a 2-player co-op run with my then-roommate/longtime bud when the game first came out. I was a glass cannon mage (funny memory of being launched several screens off the floating castle [EDIT: the Castle of Storms] by an enemy because of my super-light "armor") and had started experimenting with different weapons, but I ended up maining whips when I discovered how good they were at helping me conserve magic for boss-melting. My buddy went for an ultra tank/high physical DPS build, so we made some bosses easier than usual with that dynamic in play. Love to see this game still get some love!
I like listening/watching while I draw. Your voice is so relaxing, you just sound like a nice average joe chatting on a Tuesday morning and IDK man the normalcy makes me feel pretty relaxed. Thanks for great content!
We're back baby! Don't get me wrong. I like the non SnS videos, but there's something about your passion for this particular game that is just infectious.
I have watched you since subscribing when you were at 95 subs, and the other day I decided to play SnS and since watching you, everything was a breeze as a Firebomb Academy Student I can fully say seeing this made me so happy to see the old stomping grounds again thank you for being such a wonderful teacher!
It's so nice to see you back in Salt and Sanctuary, back when I started playing it I found your channel and immediately subscribed, I'm really happy seeing how much you have achieved during the years, but S&S Backlogs will always have a soft spot for me. Keep on the good work Lemon!
I remember looking up Sald&Sanctuary stuff to find out where to go next when i was on my first playthrough, ended up finding the backlogs challenge runs and been down the rabbit hole since and glad i found this channel
Wow... I never thought we were going to see another Salt and Sanctuary video from you but... It's a welcomed surprise! And now i can even follow what's happening, since i played the game because of you! °^°7
As someone who's only been watching you since after your S&S days (being the filthy Soulsborne addict that I am), this was pretty awesome to see! I only really knew of this game's existence through you, and while I'm not sure when I'll have the time (because, y'know... backlogs...), I definitely wanna play this game someday because of your videos. Thanks for another awesome run, Lemon! You're one of the few that can make me seek out challenge vids of games I know nothing about, just because I can't get enough of your content. It's always a good time.
I know what you mean about comfort games. I can probably beat infamous second son with my eyes closed and one hand on the hardest setting but that doesn’t take away my enjoyment of the game. Every now and again I just pick it back up again, do a quick playthrough, then mess around with concrete powers for an hour or so before deleting it for a few months.
Lemon, your fist only run of salt and sanctuary got me into not only the game, but the entire soulsborne genre as a whole! Its so nostalgic to see another video on SnS.
I finally bought SnS the other day cause of your challenge runs, and i am really enjoying it. Thanks for showing me a game i would have never known about without your vids
Your commentary about the game being ultimately less fun when you know how to beat the bosses, is the exact same way I feel about the Souls franchise. I love and regret that I platinum’ed the souls series because now I just know the optimal way to play and no challenge run has scratched that itch that’s formed since I completed the games.
It's such a nice supprise to see another SnS video! I was playing the game a ton when I found your channel and playing the game while watching your SnS videos is something that I will always remember fondly! Thank you for all the great memories Lemon!
Lemon, i cant believe i can finally say this, thank you. For months now ive been wondering why games i used to play didnt have that same spark i used to have it them, games i loved and cherished slowly becoming dull and drab. And yet seeing this video... Its all clear to me now, and i get it, these are games ive faced down many times, some for new challenges sure, My DS3 faith build can be a testimate to that, but it never answered why they lost love, but its because i know them so well. So thank you, for answering the question that was keeping me up at night.
Its part nostalgia, part Lemon as to why I watch S&S runs. I learned of the game days before its official release. Played through the game as a mage and loved it. Found your channel as you played S&S and loved it. Been around ever since.
I actually found SheenShots from his Remnant 2 Tier Lists, which I've watched most of, thank you for calling attention to his SnS runs, I'll be sure to start watching a bit more of his channel
Been watching a long time, the potato run was absolutely the most unhinged challenge run I've ever seen. Now you're closing in on half a million subs, you deserve every one of them.
With all the soulslikes that exist, I am surprised there is not one that lets you be a skeleton in some capacity. I'd love to see a challenge run where Lemon has to play through a game as Tony.
Hmmm... the somewhat-Souls-ish action game Clash: Artifacts of Chaos has you turn into some sort of construct during nighttime which can find different parts for itself. Can look like a gnarled tree man, a gladiator with a head like a hammerhead shark, an assembly of coral and shells, and in one instance, a skull-headed bird woman. Came out in 2023, prequel to the Zeno Clash series. Colorful, hardly any humans but mainly monsters, and combat is more in the line of a 3D martial arts/beat-em-up game. Something like God Hand. Awesome art direction, atmosphere, music and good story. Can very warmly recommend.
I remember playing Salt and Sanctuary absolutely years and years ago. Loved the game, and after so many playthroughs, being as thorough as possible, I thought I'd seen everything... yet, there were a couple bosses there I saw that I don't remember. Either I'm old as hell, or I missed something since the last time I played. I think I need to pay that salty island another visit...
I picked up Salt & Sanctuary and Salt & Sacrifice because of your videos, and I've recently been playing them again after watching SheenShots' videos, so seeing a new S&S video from you is really nice. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see some randomizer runs from you here on youtube. :3
I first heard of Salt and Sanctuary from Vaati, but my actual exposure to the game came from this channel. I had a lot of fun with it on my first playthrough, but I probably won’t be back to it for a while due to… “issues” with the Red Hall of Cages. It’s nice to see S&S stuff again, and I agree with Lemon; hell, my old reliable game is Pokemon Silver, and I still go back to that during rough times. Additionally, I think it’s awesome you’re recommending another Salt runner, Lemon. And good call about warning him about the potatoes; one Eldritch Encounter is more than enough.
Have you been interested in the other games by Ska Studios outside of Salt & Sanctuary? The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile and Charlie Murder are different beasts but i think that if you play them, you can see elements of these previous games in S&S.
@@StrangerForever85 They're solid games, Charlie Murder is a Beat-em-Up with some slight RPG elements: finding different clothing and upgrading stats mainly, as well as unique "magic" abilities for every character. Like the "shaman" being able to turn enemies' severed heads into totems that cast buffs to allies. Five characters are unlocked from the start, and more can be unlocked through some optional/secret stuff. It's set in a punk rock horror apocalypse. Meanwhile The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile is like... Superspeed brutal murder. Two protagonists that both get their own arsenals which include the likes of a chainsaw prostethic, katanas, double meat cleavers, a concrete brick on a stick wrapped in spiky bits, shotguns, a giant pair of scissors called The Guillotine, and more. And you can cancel *anything* into a dodge. Attacks, windups, recovery, even dodges. It's a short game but moves at high-octane breakneck speed. Gnarly and thrilling game.
I've never actually played the game but always loved your videos even back then. So its nice to see another run, even if it was a brief revisit :) Deus vult.
Tree of Men tip for the flamethrower. Default to the middle left ledge, then use the invincibility from a ledge grab up to dodge the flames. Get some hits in and drop back down to the middle each time.
When I saw this title I was so happy as since you started on this game and didn't do a whip challenge, I suggested this as for a good giggle for a gimmick character.
I actually finally got around to playing Salt and Sacrifice not that long ago, after having only had an interest in it to begin with because of watching your videos in it and Sanctuary a long while back. Normally I get bored of metroidvania style games pretty quickly, but it clicked with me a lot better than most, and I likely never would have given it a shot to begin with if it wasn't for your channel.
Oh cool, I'm getting recommendations for old S&S videos agai- wait, 12 HOURS AGO!!! WOOO, WE'RE BACK BABY!! Also a new challeng runner to watch, awesome.
Hey Lemon, did you know for the Tree of Men you can use the I-Frames while climbing to avoid his flame thrower? I found this out in my first playthrough and still use it to this day.
Thanks for all the videos Lemon, I love your style and easy going nature and always enjoy the videos even when I might not like the game in question. 👍
Comfort games are great. Mine's the Golden Sun trilogy. If you want a nice rather short jrpg to chill with, I really recommend it. And there is fun challenges you can set for yourself.
Oh my gosh! I was inspired a while back by your dark souls run to do whips only in SnS! I never expected that the Firebomb Academy Headmaster would be following in MY footsteps!!:)
Sheenshots mentioned! I started watching him for his Outward videos, and was pleasantly surprised when he started doing Salt and Sanctuary challenges, which was something I'd previously associated with you, Lemon. ...I should probably play Salt at some point, thinking on it. It's just been sitting there untouched on my console for I don't even know how long.
...You know, while this challenge is great, I actually wanna say something unto you Lemon. You got me into this game... and I thank you greatly for that. Because this is one of the few souls-like games I've beaten. I enjoyed this game greatly and it was a long journey getting from the salty shores all the way to the Crypt of Dead Gods. Even now I still love this game and it has inspired me in so many ways. I picked the sword in this game thanks to you Lemon. Here's to many more challenge runs involving many more games. Some I may even get into because of how interesting they are. May the Firebomb Academy and its teachings bless those old, new, and future
The way I SCREAMED when I saw an S&S title. You are the reason I played this game in the first place and why I will still sometimes go back and play it again
I have been watching SheenShots' S&S stuff, tho I found however long ago it was due to another game with a difficulty curve called Outward. One day it just popped up on my feed and I saw the magic system in it and just fell in love.
I played this game at a friends house Co-op. He went a heavy weapon armor build and I went hunter and stuck with whip/bow the whole game. It worked fairly well with me sticking mostly to ranged and him tanking. He did end up using the scissors, but there were still plenty of bosses where he died early and I just played keep away until they were dead, including the final boss.
Just finished the new randomizer mode added in the last update, and it reminded me that this game is SO much fun. Probably one of my favorite game that I forget they exist
It'll be great to recive some in-depth game mechanics review, especially after latest update and enhanced balance. For eximple: does weapon scaling gives fixed +X damade boost from an attribute or it depends of weapon\weapon type, base damage etc? How different buffs work, how do they stack or override each other? Why do we get such great damage boost from (let's say) Pitchfire for Branding Iron, although it has so tiny physical damage? How do different elemental effects work on elemental weapons? I pray on your meticulousness!
I needed to purchase the upgraded manscape stuff already, so let’s say my purchase today was because of how well it trimmed that helm. I couldn’t see a single hair, so obviously imagine what it’s gonna do to a face full of it!

I’m so excited. I love the Salt series of challenges!!!!
I do appreciate how they keep adding stuff to the game. Good developers.
My prays have been answered
Praise the academy
Thank you for another salt and sanctuary video!
Lemon will never cease to amaze me with how much he is willing to suffer in these challenges, truly a legend to be remembered
Love the videos you are the reason I got into salt and sanctuary and platinumed it. This vid is hella nostalgic.
Sheenshots + Lemon wanting a new game to play? I think this is a sign that we need an Outward challenge run lol
@@jurtheorc8117 , never heard of those, sadly. Only played Salt and Sanctuary and Salt and Sacrifice...
This video just made my evening. Thanks, Lemon.
Tree of Men tip for the flamethrower. Default to the middle left ledge, then use the invincibility from a ledge grab up to dodge the flames. Get some hits in and drop back down to the middle each time.
Fun runs are the best kinds of runs, and hopefully after your hard drive recovers from your next big project you can enjoy yourself some more
Love the Videos, and every time i watch a "Can you Beat" i always hear in the back of my mind "this is where the real game begins"
When I saw this title I was so happy as since you started on this game and didn't do a whip challenge, I suggested this as for a good giggle for a gimmick character.
I'm so happy to see salt and sanqtuary content again on your channel 😌
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the kind words and support, even if it's not a video you were hoping for 💛
I really appreciate your videos man! Been watching for years! Please keep posting!
I THOUGHT YOURE OVER WITH SALT N SANCTUARY LOL NICE TO SEE YOU BACK
The Return of the King
I love the melancholy yet happy tone
Ah, welcome back old friend. It's good to see you come around and visit for old times' sake.
This video whips the algorithm into submission
...You know, while this challenge is great, I actually wanna say something unto you Lemon.
Love seeing SnS getting some love again
The way I SCREAMED when I saw an S&S title. You are the reason I played this game in the first place and why I will still sometimes go back and play it again
Thank you for this wonderful little ever so convenient birthday present video Lemon❤
I have been watching SheenShots' S&S stuff, tho I found however long ago it was due to another game with a difficulty curve called Outward. One day it just popped up on my feed and I saw the magic system in it and just fell in love.
WANDS ONLY?
I played this game at a friends house Co-op. He went a heavy weapon armor build and I went hunter and stuck with whip/bow the whole game. It worked fairly well with me sticking mostly to ranged and him tanking. He did end up using the scissors, but there were still plenty of bosses where he died early and I just played keep away until they were dead, including the final boss.
Just finished the new randomizer mode added in the last update, and it reminded me that this game is SO much fun. Probably one of my favorite game that I forget they exist
Yes! I missed S&S challenges! I'll be back to watch this once I'm in an area with better wifi.
I love lemon's comedic way to transition to ad reads
An excellent send off for the OG (and only good) Salt game.
YEAH, S&S is back. Kinda wish you made more Salt and Sacrifice challenges. Kind of feels like you played twice (on video) then left it behind.
WOOHOO! So happy to see this game again!
1:32 Your what journey now?
Yeah wut
UA-camr journey
I needed to purchase the upgraded manscape stuff already, so let’s say my purchase today was because of how well it trimmed that helm. I couldn’t see a single hair, so obviously imagine what it’s gonna do to a face full of it!
SaltyPrequelSolaire has gotten all of his salt out and consumed enough wine to evolve into his next form: SexyPartySolaire.
