I have the DVD that was put out back in the mid 2000's and in the sleeve it had a movie trivia. According to what it said, the scene with Roddy McDowell was based on a real teacher who took a gun to class because he was teaching at a very violent school and afraid of his students. I think the school was in New Jersey.
First time watching this film EVER a few days ago!...I was blown away how awesome this movie is, in so many ways. I don't care what kind of budget or actors Hollywood would have today, they could never make a movie like this again..Damn intense, especially for back then.
It was released in 1982, foreshadowing the state of American schools... sadly they were correct... metal detectors etc, etc hence the AC song I am the future...
In 1984..I WAS the future! A perfect song, sung by the perfect artist for a movie like this..Never heard the song before seeing this movie, i love Alice Cooper
Graduated or actually just pushed thru high school. In reality, our school was kinda like this but not the violence or punk scene. It was all drugs, Sex , rock. We didn't go to class or have to. We would get a C. We didn't want anything from them, and teachers were happy not having anything to do with us. Great Movie, Great Times, now we're much older but still like having good times.
I seen this movie the same year it came out and wow watching this again in 2018 sure was an awesome feeling....Alice Cooper is such a legend I’m glad he did the opening song to this movie...Goodtimes!!!
Classic Coop. Classic 80s. Classic rock... Mr. Norris had five super-deadly opponents to take on... By himself. It seemed hopeless, but he used brain over brawn. ONE by ONE, he hunted them down...
The song WAS made for the film. Alice Cooper was deep, deep, deep into his drug addiction at this point and the makers of the film approached him, since he was hard up for work
The only movie that truly showed what the 80s was. It wasn’t a family with bowl cuts and matching sweaters. It wasn’t a bunch of squiggles and triangles in every design. It was brutal. More brutal than today’s society because back then, the security measures weren’t good enough to control anything. We did carry weapons in school, all of us did. We did smoke on the bus, and we absolutely beat the shit out of eachother.
I cant be the only one that found this track strangely haunting. Even though the lyrics are pretty on-the-nose, its melody to me is enough to encapsulate Stegman as a person; a disturbed kid with no worries for the world around him.
I never saw the sequel because it tried to be something it's not this movie was never a horror science fiction movie it was a psychological thriller one of those movies where a teacher moves to a badd school only it was well done I mean not to say that there aren't other movies that are good too like this Movie was phenomenal
It is. Although they're not that different overall, they're two completely different recordings. The album version has slightly better production, but I think I like this version a little bit more than the one on "Zipper Catches Skin". But that could be because I've heard the album version tons more times than this one... so this seems more "new" to me. Either way, it's one of my favorite 80's Alice Cooper songs. I like his early 80's stuff a lot more than anything he did from '86 onward.
They never really were scary. They would be seen as the wannabe gangsters of today. Yknow, the nerdy kids who do whatever the bad kids say in hopes of becoming one of them. The real scary people weren’t in the city. And the real scary people dressed normal. They carried guns instead of gay chains and switchblades, and they didn’t wear high heels or a see through shirt while doing it.
@@support16s45 it sounds like you got your entire knowledge of what punk is from class of 1984, so im gonna ask, are you stupid, uninformed, or a little bit of both? im guessing mmm both

@marius kristensen no, and not really, its a good film but getting your info on punks from this would be like getting your info on black metal from lords of chaos or getting your info on the yanomami from cannibal holocaust
This movie started campy and comical then got real dark and disturbing. Awesome
Kind of like the 80's in general.
Its great. I knew people who dressed like this ha ha
but they'd still kick your ass, people were just tougher back then
Roddy McDowell teaching biology with a gun just brilliant, Great underrated 80s cult classic film !!!

Awesome movie, actually saw it in 1984 (it's made in 1982) and instantly loved it... quite underrated in my opinion, good times back then.
I must have seen it in 83. I don't know why I seen it so young. Been one of my favourites ever since.
It' s made in 1981
This and The Principal with James Belushi. Great movies which left a lasting impression. I’ve always loved the 80’s school films.
Class of 1999 and night school also
Great cult movie...one of the best of the 80s...top 20

It’s a classic indeed! A movie like this just couldn’t be made today as the culture is so different . I love the raw 80s vibe in this movie

In the 90's there was a big burst of awareness about school violence, but it also was a serious problem in the 70's and 80's.
