I would like to add for those out there preparing creams soaps and so on you must be aware of the fact that when you combine a mix of cold and hot you will end up with a disaster.
Like it shows on this video. Both mixes must be at the same temperature in order to end up with a smooth blend. I am not trying to be a critic just wish to share my teacher's knowledge.

I tried this twice and it was disaster for me, once i added the melted soap it started to jell up on me, not sure what i am doing wrong.

You can add Vitamin E drops

Preservatives are only for water-based products.
Vitamin E is not a preservative, but it's needed to avoid the rancidity of the oils.
No need for a preservative, if you were making a sugar scrub you would need one but not for this recipe 😊
I tried this recipe yesterday and I can agree that there is way to much oil in this recipe...after 24 hours it was somewhat soft & oily, but held its form...I used one of the scrubs and I could feel the exfoliation, moisturizing, and cleansing effect...I will try it again and only add one of the oils...thank you so much for sharing - much appreciated!
I too tried this recipe twice and it was a waste of my products both times was a failure. I have found recipes that would be better. Will stick to recipes found in my soap making books going forward, because I have never had a failure using Per-Reviewed books. Much love ❤️ this was a waste of my time, Shea butter, Sweet Almond oil and my soap base.
Do we need to use Shea Butter with the soap base or can I use a base that has Shea butter in it already and just add oil and sugar?
You can use a base that already has shea butter
Doesn't the hot soap base melt the sugar??

Can I use a moisturizer soap? I've been using dove soap for a long time. and use gel color to add to make this with the oils that I have? Vitamin E / Vitamin E gel and 🌳 oils or olive oil. 🫒 .

You can get soap base from mostly any craft store or soaping supply company, there is a link as well in the description box 😊
If I trade out the kaolin for bentonite, what would be your suggestions for adjusting the amounts? I'm thinking, use half the amount of bentonite, in place of kaolin...

I'm so excited to make these! I do want them to lather and read your response that it depends on the M&P soap base you use. Can you please give me a bit of direction with that? Specifically which soap bases will promote lathering and would I need to increase the ratio of soap to butter/oils? I'm very much a beginner and would appreciate your guidance! TIA!

Melt and pour soap already has a preservative but you can add additional if you like and vitamin e is always a plus but not necessary.

I believe size or thickness plays a part of how long it last for the most part. Just my thought
