Firing up and running the Canadian National

- Featured on the cover of Live Steam Magazine Sept / Oct 2016 issue, Ernie Beskowiney put approximately 7 years and 35,000 hours into the design and construction of this flawless 7.5" gauge live steam locomotive. It is nearly entirely CNC'd out of stainless steel and is slightly larger than 1/8 scale.
The operating pressure is 150 PSI and develops about 483lbs of tractive effort. It has pulled a train of 48 people without blinking. Here is Ernie firing up and running the locomotive at the Bitter Creek Western railroad.
For more information, see the Sept / Oct 2016 issue of Live Steam Magazine, available from Village Press. - Наука та технологія

Agreed if your not Hired by any Class 1 railroad. You can have 7 1/2 Gauge trains
Not only are the trains cool, I like the miniature city someone has built to drive around in.

Just awesome! 😍🚂 That bridge!
My dad fired the real 6060 in the 50s when he worked for CN. We had the chance to ride her in Algoma years ago and the engineer let Pops up into his old work horse for a ride. I thought he was gonna cry. He would love to see your scaled down remake. Beautiful job.
This is the real loco - just in scale ;)
A Work of Art! Don't know why some say jewellery can be priceless, this is far more fascinating! 👍 😎

Amazing work! To see that that machine can pull 48 people without breaking a sweat is testimony to 2 things. 1. The sheer power of steam and 2. The engineering and operating skill of its owner.
An amazing display of power from a beautiful looking train set
i didnt know these kinds of stuff existed. im glad I found your channel
The automatic draincocks are cool. They go off sometimes when I wouldn't have expected, but that shows they are doing their job. What a nice loco. Who knows when we'll see the real one run again. Really enjoyed that video, thanks!

I’ve always wanted to ride one of these trains as a kid, They just look so much fun.
You can still do it whenever!
I was at Bitter Creek that day and saw the engine run, it's a beauty. It manhandled all those heavyweights in its consist though it did burn through quite a lot of fuel quickly though. Definitely a work of art.

Awesome craftsmanship in these locomotives, it is really a pleasure to watch the detail and skill these men put into their hobbies (but again, it is their passion) 😊👍🏻👍🏻
wonderful model train. The sound of engine taking me to my childhood times where we used to travel in steam engine trains. Thanks for uploading.

This work of art is pure labour of love, hard work and money.
These are works of art!
My great uncle used to make these scaled working steam locomotives. I remember him working on them in his shed and used to take us for rides on them at his club.
A lot of time, effort and love goes into these. Well done 👍

Just came across this in 2022.....I am from the school of thought that a layout and a steam engine this magnificent should incorporate at least one tunnel somewhere on this layout....just unbelievably cool!!
There are three tunnels on this layout. There used to be four but one was daylighted.
Beautiful train! 🤲

How the heck can people dislike this? This is pure art
Agreed, and there's quite a lot, 15k against 90k upvoters atm. That's bad statistics..
They probably think it's a waste of resources (considering it uses liquid fuel and not coal [which is ironic since it might be using diesel, sort of a diesel-steam hybrid], it's also made of what I can assume is steel, and the tracks itself appears to be in a park space that used to have lots of trees that they cut-off for the tracks to have somewhere to be in)
How delightful, beautiful and cute this is!😃
How anyone could give this a thumbs down is beyond me! Beautiful live steam loco! Love it!

Man ive been to stettlers Alberta Prairrie and the Alberta Railway Museum and Damnnnnn!!! that thing is spot on identical... how the hell does on manage to have that many skills in fabrication to build that ! Soooo freaking awesome !!!
He previously restored (prize winning) antique cars. He had never done anything like the locomotive before and taught himself everything he needed to know about both steam locomotives and machining to complete this project.

I loved riding the small scale train at the San Antonio Zoo when I was a kid ! I forget the scale, but it was a bit larger than this one. Hopefully I'll get to build my own some day ! And why don't they go to something like this for are transit that would be so much cleaner if they want to bitch about the all the pollution cars and buses emit.
I think this train would do great in national parks , the rail track must be situated on a flyover of atleast 25- 30 feet above the ground and people would be seating in this train and enjoying the scenario of Zoo..
Sounds more Disney World than national park.
@@mikakorhonen5715 Yeah. that said a few parks do have "narrow gauge" historical trains for people to ride on. Bigger than this, but still smaller than the freight trains we have nowadays.
Beautiful. Still remember the thrill as a kid getting a ride in one.

Lots of fun from your video, do hope some day I'll visit this place and have more fun ^-^
Engines and boggies were perfectly made, hats off to their effort
Nice video. I rode on the real 6060 in Belleville Ontario back in the late 70's. It didn't look anywhere near as good as your beastie. Great job on the build.
In the 70s this train ran excursions once a year Montreal to Ottawa. At middway point everyone got off and they 'opened her up' one of the most amazing spectacles i've evey been privileged to witness !

Also ran weekly from Toronto - Niagara Falls and was so popular that CN had to add Wednesday trips. What a great time to be living in Hamilton then. Took that Hamilton - NF leg 3 times and stayed on the side trip to Yaeger to turn her on the wye. Got GREAT runpast photos. Rode her again in 1999 from Stettler, Alberta to Coronation on Father's Day. Got recorded on Greg Scholl's video '6060 Steam Special' that he finally released. Now she's under cover awaiting another periodical rebuild.
@smatejka1 the old cars that had windows that opened - as a kid I had my head out the whole trip lol the best is when ud go through small towns and see the people's mouths agape as we flew by. Or stopping at small tows to get water- via the firetruck . What incredible memories.
@@daveyboy_ yep. We rode in the baggage car every time so we could record the sounds and we would switch from there to the open windows in the vestibules between coaches too. Can’t even imagine anyone being allowed to do that these days. Enjoyed the same open mouthed stares when we took a ride in 2001 behind SOO Line 1003 and would hit a crossing with stopped traffic that had no idea we were coming.
@smatejka1 yes, the real fans in the baggage car. One yr there were two guys in a jeep chasing us the whole way . But the most awesome is when we'd get off for a photo op. The train would do a run . Never seen a steam engine go that fast . God , just thinking about that was incroyable.
you can just feel the awesome power of that train ! :-)
