    I have been working on a cheat sourdough bread recipe for the past month and finally nailed it today. So, in the meantime, I am posting a recipe for tortillas because it has been a while since I uploaded a video on this channel. Hopefully the video for bread (vegan, paleo, nut-free, oil-free) will be up by Monday. Hope you enjoy this recipe.😊

    this is my go to recipe for flatbread. its an inexpensive way to make bread without all the other "luxury" ingredients like cheese, cream cheese, butter etc.. I am also trying to go dairy free and gluten free so this recipe was the best. thank you for figuring this out, it really helps.

    Is there a way to replace the syllium husk? I never liked its aftertaste -maybe ground or whole flaxseed?

    • @nutritionrefinedasmr7025
      @nutritionrefinedasmr7025  3 роки тому

      HI Maru - you could probably do other binders but the ratio of almond flour to the binder will change. Flax is a weak hydrophilic binder whereas psyllium is a strong hydrophilic binder, so you would need to use more flax for the tortillas to hold together. I have only tried flaxseed tortillas (the recipe is on my blog) with no almond flour. So, if you wanted to adapt this particular recipe, you would have to experiment a little :)

    I made these tonight and I did omit the oil and although they looked fine, when I tried to fold them or roll them they just cracked into pieces. So I ate my wrap with a fork no big deal but I would definitely add the oil next time 😊

    • @nutritionrefinedasmr7025
      @nutritionrefinedasmr7025  3 роки тому

      Hmm, it wouldn't be the oil. I have made these tortillas without oil multiple times and had no issues. Did you use whole psyllium husk or psyllium powder? What brand of almond flour did you use? Was it finely ground? I am sure we can figure out what went wrong.

    • @lakedog7313

      Any thoughts on why they are not rollable and break apart?

    • @nutritionrefinedasmr7025
      @nutritionrefinedasmr7025  3 роки тому

      @@lakedog7313 Hmm, that sounds all good. A few more questions - were the tortillas pliable when you took them off the skillet? Were they soft all around/soft in the center but crispy on the edges/stiff... what was the texture? Did the tortillas look like mine (in terms of color)? I am trying to see if you perhaps cooked the tortillas for too long - the longer you cook the tortillas, the dried they get, which would explain the breaking.

    • @nutritionrefinedasmr7025
      @nutritionrefinedasmr7025  2 роки тому

      Hi Eylem - did you use parchment paper for rolling out the tortillas? Parchment paper is non-stick, so the tortillas shouldn’t stick to it. Did you use whole psyllium husk for the recipe?
