The hardest thing i gave up for keto was my tacos. But it was worth it i was 265 8 months ago. Today im 197 getting lean n putting on muscle now your telling me i get my tacos back thank you Jesus
His name's Joe. :) Yeah I know. Just "funnin" as they said back in the1800's. This one's gonna save me. I've been using the lowest carb tortillas I could find but none came close to this and I am seriousely addicted to tortillas. You could call me a chain tortilla eater. Big Tortilla should make these.
I use either romaine hearts, Boston or butter lettuce also makes a good taco shell. Or I use 2 oz of colby jack cheese and put it in the oven to make shells. When they finish cooking, I fold them over taco holders to make a nice shell.
Can you make pasta with this it would be the biggest deal. Also can you give yeast so the dough can grow and became a bread?Oh my...we are almost there..we can eat sandwitches,'pastas..hmmm. without guilt!!!
@@daisicooper2 I just found out Walmart is carrying next to no carb pasta noodles"nasoya pasta zero" also one online called "nupasta"zero carbs, and Aldin is carrying no carb sandwich bread "lovin'fresh" for 2.99 a loaf.
My fiancé was diagnosed with diabetes a few months back and unfortunately it’s so severe that it’s causing his pancreas to start shutting down. He loves tacos, so much so I’m surprised he’s not marrying a Latino lol when he realized he had to stop eating tortillas you could see the disappointment on his face. I just told him I found this recipe and he’s so excited we’re on our way to the store first thing in the morning to get everything to make them. Thank you for giving him something he loves back to him.
Made these twice so far. First time, my whole family inhaled them, and I'd wished I'd made more. Second time, just the other day, I made a triple batch, and there was ACTUALLY LEFTOVERS. Two full days later, they were just as soft and pliable as the day I made them. This recipe is freaking AWESOME! Side note: We used them as pitas and ate them with gyro chicken and tzatziki sauce! Amazing!
This recipe is unbelievably good, and so versatile. Very thin for a tortilla, thicker for a nan, shaped for a sandwich or muffin, or one big pizza base. It really does it all. Thank you so much.
Mixing it in a food processor is such a great tip. I used to use my cake mixer which is big, heavy and kind of a chore to use and clean. I also bought a cheap $10 tortilla press which is such a time saver that i do it at the stove, press, fry, press, fry, press, fry and it only takes about 15mins to knock out 8 of these bad boys. Finally, I skip the egg and used some olive oil and water instead and I let my dough be quite sticky otherwise it would be too crumbly. It's just as soft and elastic. And i used whole psyllium husk, about 3 tbl spoonful. If you have an air fryer, cut these up into triangles and 10mins you have tortilla chips ready to be dipped into some store bought salsa for a great keto snack.
Perfect. I brought 3 of these out to dinner to replace the ones that come in a fajita. Put the steak, peppers, onions, cheese and salsa on them, very good. Also ordered a steak and cheese sub from my favorite restaurant, when I got it, I took it all out and put it in these. These things are a keto cheat code. And who gives a F what people think when you pull out your own tortillas out for a zip lock bag at a restaurant.
I just tried this and as a Hispanic raised o flour tortillas, I was surprisingly impressed .. I added a dash of garlic and onion powder to add flavor.. made a great carnita soft taco for dinner !
I made these. I have never used almond flour. The texture was not what I expected. They would break on me even though I followed the recipe exactly. We still ate them. If I do make them again I will add a little more salt.
I was skeptical; I’m not going to lie. However, I just made them and I am so impressed. As a lifelong Texan and a huge fan of Tex-Mex, I am insanely happy about these!! I finally got to use my tortilla press!! They kind of remind me of rough homemade corn tortillas in texture and like a corn/flour tortilla in taste. I’m guessing if I pressed them then rolled them out a little bit they would work for enchiladas.
Also a Texan....just made them. They were awesome. I thought they tasted (and textured) somewhere between flour tortillas and fresh Pita bread...leaning slightly more pita in the taste department. I'll definitely be using these tortillas heavily in the future....I can't wait for breakfast tacos.
Holy Smokes! These are fantastic! Being from New Mexico, I know a what a tortilla is suppose to be and this is the closest I've ever had with such low cards. A normal flour tortilla normally has 20-26 carbs. Thanks for for this game changer recipe!
Nice! I've been making this recipe for a couple of months now and they are fantastic! The best keto tortilla recipe that I've tried. One thing I do different is separate dough into 5 balls and between two sheets of parchment, I use a heavy cast iron skillet to press the dough ball straight down and flat, they always turn out perfectly round that way.
@@ivorykeys1566 Sometimes I have them tear when I'm trying to remove them from the bottom sheet of parchment. I have tried various keto tortillas recipes before, this one is by far the BEST I have ever tried. They can't be any more perfect than that. They don't have anything at all to envy from "non-keto" tortillas. The texture is perfect, the taste is perfect, they are just moist enough to bend with no cracks, and they look great. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing recipe!
I made these yesterday and have to say I have tried 3 different tortilla recipes before this one & all were very disappointing. THIS recipe is fabulous.....follwed your recipe & cooking time exactly & they are perfect! Had tacos last night using these tortillas. Thank you!
I followed the instructions exactly and they came out amazing. Thank you for the best tortilla recipe. I went through 3lbs of flour testing others and this one is by far the best.
Omg omg omg!!! These are AMAZING!!! I tried a couple other low carb tortilla recipes made with eggs and they didn't turn out. I was so sad because I had such high hopes. But then I found you and this video... Hip Hip hooray! And you're exactly right, you cannot cook these too much they will crumble. I cooked one side on my electric stove (knob at 7) 35 seconds on one side, and then 5 seconds on the other, then immediately formed them in a taco shape, and they were perfect! And the ones that I accidentally cooked too long, just put some cheese on and I had a cheese crisp, which was awesome! This is seriously a game-changer, can't thank you enough! ❤️🤗❤️
I made these yesterday. I fried them in butter since I don't have any non-stick pans. That works. I also, since I like corn tortillas added some sweet corn extract. The corn extract was kind of sweet but didn't taste at all like corn. They were still amazing!! The texture and flexibility are outstanding. Everyone over here loved them.
Wow sir you have changed the game! I was so sick of wasting time and ingredients on trash recipes.Thank you times a million for this recipe. I just had breakfast tacos for the first time in months. This is like a corn/flour tortilla hybrid. Easy and delicious. I added some garlic and onion powder to spruce it up a bit. I can not thank you enough. 10/10 recommend.
Made these tortillas and they were absolutely delicious, but I did something special at the end with my extra pieces, I used them to create a sort of flat bread that was a bit thicker and I have to say it is absolutely perfect. Also, if you add some flavours into the dough you can definitely make yourself a nice keto version of naan as well, this recipe is amazingZ
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for this tortilla recipe. My husband and I started Keto March 8, 21. He has lost 20 1/2 lbs and I have lost 10 1/4 lbs. It was hard at first to get recipes that he would like. But I think I am doing pretty good now. But I am always looking for new keto recipes so we have a variety. Thank You for all your recipes, they are fast and easy to put together. ❤️❤️❤️
I love your videos and appreciate all the hard work that goes into them. I just saw a person on Instagram that has a shorter version of this video on her page. It says try "her" tortilla recipe. I knew that shirt and hand instantly as yours. People need to give credit where credit is due.
I use a tortilla press when doing this & trust me, it's such a time saver! I highly recommend if anyone makes these regularly, do urslef a favor & a 10" cast iron Tortilla Press... I bought mine from Amazon & I'm so thrilled with it. Couldn't do without it!
Just made these. Amazing. I actually have a tortilla press but thinking of using a roller after pressing to make them even thinner. rubbed them with a little butter for an even better taste.
One note, I wrapped them in a towel and out in fridge in tupperwear. They don't really do well stored, they lose their bendability and have a weird texture when reheated.
Ernesto Pulido thanks for sharing this. Sounds like they are better to be eaten right away, but OMG, tacos, enchiladas, burritos...all my favorite food again!
Oh I'm so glad!! I saw another channel where he put in ground up corn and flavouring extracts, l can't get in Ireland 😔.... This looks so much easier... and less cost.
I made these for me and my friend and she said they were as good as the keto tortillas she bought at a keto bakery here in Mexico City and they are a whole lot cheaper!😁 I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share!
I was looking for easy, simple, quick to make tortillas, and good to eat, without too much ingredients or coconut, since I'm in keto, I hate coconut .. and I found it ! Thanks a lot Joe Duff - The Diet Chef
Joe: "Add Zantham Gum" Me: "Dang it, I don't have any" Joe: "You could also use Psyllium Husk" Me: "Finally, that random shit I bought at GNC 2 years ago serves a purpose"
I've tried several recipes on so-called Keto wraps and after seeing yours, I've decided to make them regularly. Yours was the most simple to make. Yours were very pliable and perfect.
Thanks man for this recipe, i have been trying different things to reach this but finally your recipe nailed it. I changed a bit by adding 30g of vital wheat gluten (not too much carbs) and also 2g mixed Italian herbs, 1 tsp of erythritol (after grinding it) and some lightly roasted cumin seeds. People who are allergic with gluten or want to stay away from it please don’t add it. Above changes are to make it taste more like Roti, Chappati, Naan. Thanks again
Thanks for all the recipes. I like that you do the figuring & I get to simply make the perfect product. For the tortillas, I use my tortilla press. Soooo easy.
As a diabetic it's tough when you have to give up so many things you loved to eat. And at times its still tough. But with time it gets easier and easier. I'm sure with practice I will be able to cook keto recipes like a pro. It's worth it. I'm not on any diabetic meds now because this diet controls my sugars naturally. Another great recipe! Now for some tacos!! Thanx.xx
I made these last night and put them in fridge to have today. I made them straight to Joe's recipe, no alterations. What can I say but WOW! These really are outstanding tortillas and they even taste a little bit like corn tortillas. This recipe really makes taco-sized tortillas and I made four because I used a tortilla press (totally worth the $50). I made two ground beef tacos with avocado, red bell pepper and some cheddar cheese. Really filled me up for a lunch and the ingredient list is short, sweet and simple. Highly recommended. Next time I'll be adding some spices or something to them and see how that goes.
I love trying all of your Keto recipes, it keeps my days interesting and it's always so great to try what I've made. Thanks, Joe, love all your shows and always looking forward to the next one.
I'm from the UK.. and found this video super!!! Thank you for staying grams as well as USA CUP measurements... I made these..and froze some, just place a piece of parchment paper between each one. These are very pliable which makes them ..wrap.. around say .fahita chicken ..they don't crack..either.. overall super chuffed!! (That's very satisfied in English lingo)..😂😂😂😂
I know this is a couple of years old but I just made two batches of these. The first batch was just a tad dry and the second was just slightly wet. Lol! I need a new food processor. It was laboring! Anyway, my husband said that these tasted almost like real bread! He was amazed that they were so good! You made his life (and mine too) better!! Thanks so much Joe! Every recipe I have ever tried of yours has always been good!! God Bless!!
*I've been missing tortillas on my keto journey, and your recipe provides a low-carb alternative that still tastes delicious. Thank you for sharing this fantastic recipe* 😊
These turned out really well & taste great. ( I sneaked in black pepper, dash of onion powder, cumin & chili powder) I prepared a double batch for the week. Tonight I smeared a tortilla with bold Dijon mustard, added a cooked slice of bacon, bit of Havarti cheese & a cooked hamburger patty formed into the shape of a flattened hot dog. What a treat ! Tomorrow, perhaps "egg roll meat & veggie mix" in a tortilla. Thursday possibly nachos. Saving the taco's for the weekend! Thanks' for the recipe!!!
I just made these and it worked out well. Instead of cutting the tortilla out around a bowl I used the lid from a small pot (it’s actually a grease strainer) like a cookie cutter.
Thank you son much for this GREAT Keto friendly tortilla recipe. I’ve tried about 10 to 12 recipes so far and it’s the first that is tasting like the real thing. All the other were either way too eggy or tasted coconut. Another thing on what I really want to say thank you is the usage of a scale and giving the measurements in volume and in grams. I live in France and it’s a pain to have to convert every ingredient before testing a recipe. And finally, a few people are asking about where to get Xanthan Gum... even though I live in Paris, it’s hard to get it... but It’s soo easy now with Amazon and eBay... I don’t think it would have been possible to get it 10 years ago. But if you live in a country where these special “keto friendly ingredients” (like Xanthan Gum, Psylium Husk, Flaxseed Meal, etc) aren’t easy to get, just go online and you’ll get it within a week. Thank you again, great info and interesting to watch. 👍👍👍
Joe Duff - you are a genius! I have tried countless recipes and they have flopped! We cannot eat dairy so there is no miracle dough for us until now! I made a double batch and all of them were awesome. You have breathed hope into my keto family. We had steak soft tacos for the first time in 3.5 years. Thank you!!!
Made these tonight pretty simple and worked well for beef tacos with sour cream and grilled mushrooms, peppers and onions and topped with chopped tomatoes and cheese! Next time I’ll add some seasoning to the tortilla recipe to give it an added pop!
Awesome recipie Joe... and the best thing about this recipie is that the dough can be kept in the refrigerator fr 2-3 days nd the dough remains soft... nd pliable.... Thank u fr this wonderful recipie... Joe...

I just made these tortillas today and gladly my husband enjoyed it. The food processor broke, but just to not waste the ingredients I just used my hand to make the dough. Will try your other vids nextime. This is life changing 🥰
Oh MY! Made these for keto lingua tacos for none keto and keto friends tonight and EVERYONE loved them! I’ll hand mix dry ingredients prior to adding the wet next time to make sure the Xanthum gum and baking powder mixes in evenly but overall an awesome recipe. Quick, easy and if you’re in a keto lifestyle you’ve already got all ingredients on hand. Tasty too! Make sure to add a good amount of salt as suggested. I forgot salt for 1 batch (I made 3) and you could definitely taste the difference. Keep the awesomeness coming! I’m gonna get your recipe book soon.
About how long should they cook? By the time mine started turning white it was totally hard. I think my flower is darker. Maybe I'll start a channel all about how to mess up recipes. The commenters will have to tell me what I did wrong. Otherwise ill prob never know😅
I had the same issue. I think it's because the pan bottom isn't completely flat. I used a tortilla press, so I know they were thin enough. I'm going hunting for a cast iron pan. If they're hard, maybe you could break them up and use them as crackers. Tasty though!
Wrap the tortillas in a towel or napkin as you finish cooking each one. This helps to keep them pliable. This is a trick Mexican people do. Game changer.
Just made two batches. My mom and i fell in love with them. They taste just like corn tortillas!! Just make sure you follow the five second rule and don’t over cook them! Thanks Joe❤️❤️❤️
Why hasn’t anyone on here associate these shells with Enchiladas. Hello people, I am heading to the store to pick up the stuff to make the shells and then take my chicken that has been cooking in my crockpot all day. Oh man I’m going to be feasting on keto enchiladas in about 3 hours. I will let you know how wonderful they taste.
I love keto tortillas so much so I bought a tortilla press from the local Mexican market for about $20… worth every penny. Just put a little ball of the dough between plastic wrap an squeeze, done.
What a great presentation! Since beginning my KETO journey I find recipes that use weights vs. measurements for the majority of the ingredients to be the easiest to replicate! I now try to find those Keto chefs that do that ! For spices and such a tsp here and there is expected. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I’m subscribing RN !!
I've been making these for years but I just use the egg white and have never added xanthan gum or baking powder or anything else. Just almond flour or coconut flour egg whites ,water, a little bit of salt and some seasoning, parsley or Italian seasoning or whatever. Does adding xanthan gum do anything special?

Made these twice already! They are fantastic. Also, I am too lazy to use a food processor and they turned out great!
Made this the other day with my one last egg I had in the fridge. Followed this recipe to a tee. AMAZING! Going to make some more right now.
Yeeeeeeees❤️
Oh I'm so glad!! I saw another channel where he put in ground up corn and flavouring extracts, l can't get in Ireland 😔....
This looks so much easier... and less cost.
I don't eat eggs.
Great 👍
I made these for me and my friend and she said they were as good as the keto tortillas she bought at a keto bakery here in Mexico City and they are a whole lot cheaper!😁
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share!
I was looking for easy, simple, quick to make tortillas, and good to eat, without too much ingredients or coconut, since I'm in keto, I hate coconut .. and I found it ! Thanks a lot Joe Duff - The Diet Chef
Holy cow... I'm eating these for the first time while typing this. These are a legit game changer. Great recipe!
Joe: "Add Zantham Gum"
Me: "Dang it, I don't have any"
Joe: "You could also use Psyllium Husk"
Me: "Finally, that random shit I bought at GNC 2 years ago serves a purpose"
😂😂
Do you need to adjust the water for the husk?
This was me lol
You can substitute 4 sticks of bubble gum.
🤣
I've tried several recipes on so-called Keto wraps and after seeing yours, I've decided to make them regularly. Yours was the most simple to make. Yours were very pliable and perfect.
These are the greatest tortillas ever. I've been making these for months.
You lost the keto completely, but oh well.
Thanx.xx
They turned out so well! Thank you for always making the instructions so thorough!
1 cup almond flour
1 tablespoon guar/xantham gum/psyllium husk
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
Thank you😋
I never really comment on youtube videos, but these tortillas are so good!!! I just made fish tacos and I was amazed. Thanks!!!
I’m Mexican-American and tortillas are a staple in my house. I have to try this!
Love your recipes. They're so simple and quick
I just made these and it worked out well. Instead of cutting the tortilla out around a bowl I used the lid from a small pot (it’s actually a grease strainer) like a cookie cutter.
I have been searching for such a long time for a wrap recipe that I actually enjoyed.
These are AMAZING!!! Thanks😍
What a game changer! Thank you so much. I enjoyed my taco tonight. I added some spices to the mix and the tortillas were amazing and soft.
stephane auclair your comment super helpful thank u
Joe Duff - you are a genius! I have tried countless recipes and they have flopped! We cannot eat dairy so there is no miracle dough for us until now! I made a double batch and all of them were awesome. You have breathed hope into my keto family. We had steak soft tacos for the first time in 3.5 years. Thank you!!!
Aweeee glad this worked for you and your family 😉
I made these today. The only thing I did different was I used a tortilla press.
Made these tonight pretty simple and worked well for beef tacos with sour cream and grilled mushrooms, peppers and onions and topped with chopped tomatoes and cheese! Next time I’ll add some seasoning to the tortilla recipe to give it an added pop!
Just tried a batch as you showed. Absolutely wonderful. Finally, a taco I can really enjoy. Your demonstration was Right on Sir😁
I made these. I used a tortilla press (tortilladora) and they turned out perfect. Thank you.
Just made these and they were really good. I was impressed and will definitely make again. I made chicken enchiladas
OmG yes!!! Im making enchiladas tomorrow
Awesome recipie Joe... and the best thing about this recipie is that the dough can be kept in the refrigerator fr 2-3 days nd the dough remains soft... nd pliable....
Thank u fr this wonderful recipie... Joe...
Wonderful, what a great idea!! Again you are the master of quick and easy Keto recipes!! Thank you 😀😀😀
Cynthia Wilson That’s for sure! I cannot do these long drawn out processes. I just lose my concentration. But his recipes are easy peasey. And good too!! 🤗
Yeah, I'm the same way😀😀. I like it simple 😀😀
I just made these tortillas today and gladly my husband enjoyed it. The food processor broke, but just to not waste the ingredients I just used my hand to make the dough. Will try your other vids nextime. This is life changing 🥰
Thank you sir, for giving us the grams with all of your recipes 🙌
Super good I just wasted tons of time and money making 6 batches of other's recipes so glad I found your video it was perfect
I’m seeing this as an excellent pasta substitution if rolled and sliced into “fettuccine”. Thank you.
Might work 😉
Did it work? Have you tried it?
did you try it yet?
plz
i gotta know if someone tried this!!!!
Made these tortillas again and used a tortilla press. Worked out great and made this ez pz to make on a regular basis. Love this recipe
INGREDIENTS
1 Cup (112g) Blanched Almond Flour
1 Tbsp (8g) Xanthan Gum
½ Tsp (2g) Baking Powder
Nice Pinch Of Salt
1 Large Egg
1 Tbsp (15g) Water
Wrap the tortillas in a towel or napkin as you finish cooking each one. This helps to keep them pliable. This is a trick Mexican people do. Game changer.
If u use psyllium husk use double the amount of xanthan gum
Just made two batches. My mom and i fell in love with them. They taste just like corn tortillas!! Just make sure you follow the five second rule and don’t over cook them! Thanks Joe❤️❤️❤️
Omg Joe! My mouth is literally watering thinking of all the different things I can enjoy with these tortillas....I'm sooo making these tonight. YUM!!
I'll make two big burrito sized tortillas, stuff them with goodness, then fries them to make them chimichangas.
I love keto tortillas so much so I bought a tortilla press from the local Mexican market for about $20… worth every penny. Just put a little ball of the dough between plastic wrap an squeeze, done.
The way you bring the scale to the counter top. Looks like you're holding a Faberge egg.
😂😂😂
😂😂
🤣🤣
😂. He’s so organized! So much patience and can cook obviously . I bet he grew up with a fantastic Mom
R Rodrigo I thought the same thing!! I bet his mom is very organized, that's gotta be genetic! 🤣
Excellent directions and video! So clear and easy to follow plus great extra tips.
I have tried the recipe and turned out great very delicious but I didn’t had mixer so i have work the dough with my hand
Is the Measurements the same as his
Can u please give me ur recipe please please 1narcie1@gmail.com
I want to try this recipe but if I don’t use the xanthan it does work .. ...
KCCAT5 how many eggs whites? 2 ?
KCCATS.... you have been summonds to give us your recipe please, please please! 🙏
Teniendo un comalito… saca el sarten, jaja. Awesome vid! A cast Iron tortilla press is awesome to shape them as well.
I gave up on looking or making low carb tortillas. But wait after watching you and making your recipe so so happy , made quesadilla for lunch love it they refrigerate very well. I watch you all the time now and prescribed.
How would these do air fried for tortilla chips?
Made these tonight and I can believe how much they like the real thing. Thanks for the recipe because you've given me more options for meals 👍 top man
I couldn't take my eyes off those jazzy slippers, 🤣💚☘🇮🇪
This was the most simple recipe for low carb tortillas I've seen so far and they look delicious. Hopefully they taste just as good. I have all those ingredients on hand and can't wait to make these. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing! This is my family’s second week on keto and as Mexicans were ganna need this for that Chile con carne 😁
Hola Lupita
Cuanto agrego de harina de almendra?
1 taza?
Chile con Carne? Eso no es mexicano jajaja
Tried this and I’m blown away. Been having this every other day for weeks 😅
Roll the whole thing, cut it fetuciini style size, boil them: Pasta
I never thought of that. 200 iq there !
OH MY! Gonna try!
Have you actually tried boiling them? If so, did they taste like actual pasta?
Just made these the rustic way without using the bowl, skipped that step. They turned out fabulous!
Is a food processor mandatory? Or can I substitute mixing by hand?
With silicone spatula would work because it will be sticky due to xanthum gum
De todas las resetas de tortillas es la que más me ha gustado. Gracias.
