The one thing my grandkids will never get to experience; the joy of buying an actual album and finding that the songs that never made to the radio waves were actually pretty damn good! The Outfield had a sound all their own. They still give me that same sensation 40 years later.
Yea just the other day played the entire play deep list...I forgot all the songs I knew from them. And the radio wears out their song " your love" was good to hear their other songs they definitely hit the bricks with a fresh sound that was a relief from the Thompson twins lol
I know ‘Your Love’ was considered their most popular song (and might’ve been their highest-charting song), BUT this song is far superior!! It STILL gives me goosebumps!! 😃😃
The kids today will never ever know or experience the freedom , music and fun that we all had growing up to great bands like this . A decade truly missed
Although this song wasn’t on it, Voices Of Babylon has always been one of my favorite albums. Continue to play the crap out of it to this day. I regret not being able to see them live.
Terrible banda. Mataría volver el tiempo atrás y vivir esa época. Aguante The Outfield.
Amigo, me paso exactamente igual que a ti, pero a mi me gustaba escuchar "All the love in the world" y después pase a "No surrender".

A remember watching this video with the kid who lived down the street... when it first hit MTV. He thought the video effects were so awesome... and they were. He passed from COVID. This song always reminded me of him and his reaction. Man the irony... RIP John and Tony... you could sure write 'em.
While the UK may have not appreciated The Outfield, the US certainly sure did. And the US is a bigger market than the UK. :D. I'd say they actually did pretty well. And I still like to listen to that Play Deep album a lot.
Back in the 80s I thought they were an American band, but then I found out they were British. Their sound was so unique, and this is definitely my favourite song!!
Yes, this was a Birtsh band that sounded like American Band, they were great band....They play rock pop music, simple and nice, great harmony, just 3 instruments...
Man, I remember watching this video on MTV back in 87, when I was 13. God, you just never envision yourself being middle aged at 13, but boy has that time flown by...Good times,
When i was a baby, i was crying and wouldn't stop so my dad went on the computer while holding me and started playing this song and I stopped crying. So he calls it my song and gave my younger siblings their own. Love this song.
+NightOwl 64 For the most part, the U.K. did not seem to want to know about these guys. However, they did have some success in some European countries, but they definitely struck gold in the U.S. and rightly so.

Every once in awhile I hear on XM an old 80’s song and it takes me back to that time.
I know ‘Your Love’ was considered their most popular song (and might’ve been their highest-charting song), BUT this song is far superior!! It STILL gives me goosebumps!! 😃😃
It is excellent. Sad to think they never had a hit in their native UK.
The kids today will never ever know or experience the freedom , music and fun that we all had growing up to great bands like this . A decade truly missed
Had the privilege of opening for them back in 1988 in Houston. top notch players, especially Plug!
QEPD...
This group NEVER got the credit they deserve because they were NEVER caught up in controversy like other groups yet they were BETTER than most.
Thanks Tony for giving us all the sound of the Outfield, you are with John now again .
Godspeed Tony and John

RIP John Spinks... died of liver cancer yesterday. This was my favorite song by The Outfield and was written by him.
Yes music changed my ways
Ellos son especiales y únicos ! Me encantan
Such an amazing group!
Anytime I hear The Outfield, it takes me back to simpler times and always brings a smile to my face
It's amazing how universally loved these guys are, such a suprise they didn't make it massive like Journey
That pre-chorus is absolute perfection
2024 these guys music still rocks ,even after all these years, true music never gets old it just gets Better.
Godspeed John and Tony
Back to the rthym where we all came from .

A remember watching this video with the kid who lived down the street... when it first hit MTV. He thought the video effects were so awesome... and they were. He passed from COVID. This song always reminded me of him and his reaction. Man the irony... RIP John and Tony... you could sure write 'em.
Amazing lead vocal & bass player 🎸 Tony Lewis & John Spinks are now playing together in heaven #TheOutfield Forever 🤙🏻
WHY WERE THEY SO UNDERATED ! SHOULDVE HAVE HAD HITS IN UK
+simon hobbs agree!
because they didn't kiss the establishments asses and the establishment could not market them in such a way that proffited them!!!!
I AGREE AND I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHYYYY THEY WERE JUST SO GOOD
I DON'T understand it either Simon.......Simon says.......yeap.....u said it !!!!!!!!!
While the UK may have not appreciated The Outfield, the US certainly sure did. And the US is a bigger market than the UK. :D. I'd say they actually did pretty well. And I still like to listen to that Play Deep album a lot.
I got this album for my birthday as pre-adolescent. It brings back so many memories. RIP Tony Lewis.
It makes me cry that the drummer is the only one left alive 😢
Back in the 80s I thought they were an American band, but then I found out they were British. Their sound was so unique, and this is definitely my favourite song!!
Yes, this was a Birtsh band that sounded like American Band, they were great band....They play rock pop music, simple and nice, great harmony, just 3 instruments...
They're from Manchester, England.
I love how a change in the way he plays the bass, gives a totally different sound to every second verse of the song!
All i see is happiness in their eyes everytime they perform.. 😊❤️
Long live The Outfield 🙌🤘🏼
Man, I remember watching this video on MTV back in 87, when I was 13. God, you just never envision yourself being middle aged at 13, but boy has that time flown by...Good times,
I'm here because sad he passed..love his music ..I love this believe it or not 1st time I heard this wow..I'm almost 41
This band is everything that is right about the 80s. This video is the pinnacle of cool!
Yep! great Jackets, Shoes Tshirts and Acid Wash Jeans! Great Song too!
When i was a baby, i was crying and wouldn't stop so my dad went on the computer while holding me and started playing this song and I stopped crying. So he calls it my song and gave my younger siblings their own. Love this song.
The outfield es incomparable!
Quisiera viajar a los 80's
Tienes 27 ahora? 😁
Thanks for the great music and memories R.I.P
The Outfield was such an underrated band. That first album is excellent pop music and the second ain't so bad either.
Tom Suitt yeah there amazing ! there from Manchester, but never made it in the UK but was big in the states
+Lee Aaron Never made it in the UK? Really??
no they never really got big in the UK there fame was all in america
+NightOwl 64 For the most part, the U.K. did not seem to want to know about these guys. However, they did have some success in some European countries, but they definitely struck gold in the U.S. and rightly so.
+Tom Suitt Not pop, but Power Pop.
Love Tony Lewis’ rolling bass in this track. Saw you live and “unplugged” at the 1992 Summer Jam in Albany, NY. Thank you for the music. You touched the world with it.
Rest in peace Tony and John your music will forever be in our hearts
Amen to that.
Sad to hear about the passing of Tony Lewis. May he Rest In Peace. Thank you for all the great music. My dad introduced me to The Outfield.
The open and closed crush on the drumming in the part before the chorus people don’t realize that is NOT easy to do.
The 80's rocked... so glad I'm a 80's child...
Barbara Oxford me too.
me tooo
Me tooooooo
Ya lucky bastards.
Barbara Oxford me too Barbara
☆LONG LIVE THE 80'S☆
This came out right after my long-time girlfriend dumped me back in 1987. I'd sing it to myself hoping she'd come back. She never did. Life worked out anyway. :)
do you have news about her?
I'm sure you've smashed some gals by now and who cares about that one
HaHa! This song and No Surrender!
jrock2264 Me too brother ! Thank God for unanswered 🙏 prayers
Such a great song with such great meaning..
What an AMAZING BLESSING The Outfield & Tony Lewis were & STILL ARE! Thank You for the Greatest music in History, along with such alumni as Stryper & Steve Taylor!!! Yes, You heard that, and it's so true!
RIP John and Tony! I still can't believe you guys are gone. Miss you and love you both!! Someone please take me back to a teen in the 1980's, please!
I miss hearing this song since 1987. Thanks for posting this.
Their songs were all over the place during my transitioning of a teenager to young adult. Can't help but be a bit nostalgic.
