    Do you find yourself over or under rotating with your freestyle stroke?

      I may be over rotating since the lifeguard at the pool told me I was crossing over with my right arm, so I think that’s a result of me over exaggerating the rotation, or I just need to move my arm out a bit. This is exactly what I was looking for tho! Two questions.. 1) does the kick drive the rotation or is it the hip that drives both kick and rotation? 2) I saw Heather use a kickboard between her leg once to work on rotation (just can’t find the video again 😠).. do you turn 90 or aim for 45 when doing that drill?

      Currently under rotating...well it would be a stretch to call this a rotation.

      Yes, he is…slowly…learning to not…pause all the….time. But he is a good addition to the show otherwise.

    You described my swimming challenges to a tee. Over using one side, which is causing an ache in my shoulder as I pull the water on that side. To correct this I’m trying to Over rotate which is making me exert myself more.
    I do not have snorkel, so I’ll try the second drill.

    There was one drill we did back in High School (many many years ago), where it was a "catch up" drill but we also slap the water on the opposite side (near the butt) before bringing our hands forward. Which I still use today as a practice for my rotation.

    Absolutely great. Only problem is how to do them for the first time when you have to pick a slow medium or fast lane in the pool. Really wish I could just be invisible for as long as it took to master them or at least not look like a total moron..

      Especially the 'recover-repeat' drill. Arm forward, then back, then all the way through; I'm going to be an absolute cluster at that one for quite a while haha

    I am curious about the ryhthm of drill, stroke and kick in technical drill.. would it be necessary to do catch& drill, another hand pull&push and kick on the side of catch at the same time or course including rotation ? Or just slight delay those actions 😅 3:53

    Note that a lot of pools don’t allow snorkels so best to check with your local one first before getting one

    i under-rotate in a pool but over do it in a wetsuit. i go quicker by rotating more but falling onto my back in openwater is funny.

    There’s some positives to take away from this video, but some demonstrations could have been better executed. Shoulda got Jodie in! The Swallow would have been the perfect demonstrator!

    Very confusing for me as someone who over rotates. You say the ideal amount is 45 degrees but every clip of the guy swimming underwater is clearly more than 45 degrees… probably 60/70 degrees 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Some good drills, but can GTN please stop renaming drills that have existed for decades? It's 6-1-6 not 6 kicks 1 pull.

    Useless
