  • Lauria is just one of the more recent Wargaming crack pipe BB design, turned up to eleven with some of the highest speed, best concealment, best armor, and best guns in tier ten. Probably a top three ship in randoms.
    Captain spec at end of the video. It's tank with brisk instead of grease the gears. Take the coal DCP mod at reload mod. I still recommend Incomp over Lauria as first steel BB if you play a lot of ranked, as Lauria isn't that great in ranked and Incomp is almost as good as Lauria in randoms. DGAF about ranked, get Lauria first.

    I love a totally different opinion set on what is good. The “well known” creators all just agree with each other without much thought and then the community parrots it. Lauria is a monster.

      I don't want to outright claim they're influenced by what Wargaming wants them to say...but I remember how almost every single youtuber said Defence was overpowered when it's objectively the worst superheavy tier 10 cruiser in the game. Opened my eyes a lot.

      @@hagostaeldmann Wouldn't say overpowered but it's certainly not bad.
      It's also objectively not the worst T10 large cruiser, Puerto, Stalingrad and definitely Sevastopol are worse.
      Cruiser dispersion on DoY guns with a 16s reload is just insane even if there's 6 of them but the trade off is that you get a pretty bad hull so you just play around it with the ridiculous conceal for even a heavy cruiser nevermind a 14" gun armed cruiser and you get a smoke and absurd gun angles and the Thunderer heal and... semi situational torps.
      I played the hell out of Defence when it came out and even Marseille felt terrible once I tried to go back to it (not saying it's better than Marseille or I don't like Marseille now btw) mainly because the reload felt like an eternity.

    Ive been really loving these videos you’ve been putting out, you often times aline with a lot of things I believe and how I feel about certain ships, especially with this video on Lauria
    I did also watch your incomp video, and admitted Im one of those people that really dont care for it. Im going to try playing it again, Ive just found it to be frustrating, but I suppose it deserves a second chance.
    On another note, do you plan on covering all the steel ships?
    Do you plan on covering Rhode Island, especially now that shes being sold? Im really pissed with the way they’re handling her, at the same time Im really torn on whether Im willing to cough up that amount of cash for it

    I gotta say, I'm more than a decent player at this game (about your same wr), but I doubt I could've pulled off that action at 8:50:
    - that first salvo on the DM I'm sure I would've flubbed. That triple citadel looked effortless, but it's not
    - shooting Auckland instead of the Yammy? with you so far...
    - ...but then I would've tried to ram, I just know it. Which would've actually worked in the Yamato's favor.
    I agree Lauria is "strong but almost boring". Lots of gimmicks and basically no way you're paying for them. Just stay angled and spam SAP, occasionally disengage with some of the best speed and concealment in the class.
    On a small note: it's Laurìa, not Làuria :)

      Thanks for the compliments, there are many ways to be good and have good stats. I'm objectively not good at damage farming compared to other players with similar winrate, it's just not a playstyle or mindset I enjoy...even though damage farming can lead to very high winrate. A good example is most of my battleships don't have a super high average damage, but many of them have a very very high winrate. I play more aggressive in part because I play in division with friends, and hanging your buddies out to dry is scummy. Mostly solo players usually natural develop better survival and farming skills. For me it's somewhat hard to switch mentalities when I play solo.
      As such I think I'm better than average on the pushing in and multi tasking like in this video, because that's the playstyle I enjoy. It's more risky than damage farming for a similar result, that's all.

    Raise the citadel by two meters, make it 32 knots and we have a semblance of balance
    Oh yeah also give it 45 second turret traverse with normal fuse

    • @hagostaeldmann
      @hagostaeldmann  Місяць тому

      I'd love it. AP would slam most bbs out to 18km instead of failing against any spaced armor at even close range. It would still be fast with brisk but not as dementedly so. Also IMO 45s turret traverse should just be the standard.

  • @Jonathan27172
    @Jonathan27172 Місяць тому

    So I only really just looked at how ridiculous this car is. 1921 "battlecruiser" (yeah, no) with an 18" belt and 8 18" guns with a 4" to 6.7" deck and you're telling me that it somehow only weighs 57,000t and makes 35kts with a 235,000shp powerplant (the design calls for even less but it's still probably not enough).
    I want some of whatever Cassone was smoking when he designed this thing and I certainly want whatever WG was smoking when they thought this was good for the game.
    It looks pretty inspired by HMS Hood and that's probably why the quarterdeck is basically underwater.

    • @hagostaeldmann
      @hagostaeldmann  Місяць тому

      they had nuclear powered bbs in italy back in the early 1900s, didnt ya know?

    • @Jonathan27172
      @Jonathan27172 Місяць тому

      @@hagostaeldmann There's the powerplant but there's also no way this abomination would be only 57,000t with that kind of armour and armament.
      The design called for 18 boilers to total 235,000shp. HMS Hood had 24 boilers totalling 144,000shp (32kt at 48,000t) and Iowa had 8 WW2 boilers that totalled 212,000shp.
      Iowa is probably a better comparison. That 212,000shp could push the Iowa to 33kts fully loaded at 57,000t somewhere around 35kts at a light load of slightly under 50,000t. You're probably looking at maybe 250kshp to push 57,000t to that 35kts.
      The problem is that Iowa had to make a lot of compromises to make 33kts fully loaded, with an armour belt of only 307mm and deck protection between 38 and 152mm. A far cry from Lauria's magical 457mm belt (1921 btw) and 32 to (depending on exactly how the armour is stacked in game) 290mm (wtf) of deck protection.
      But of course Lauria was never built and WG don't have to care about things like "physics," "production capability" or "spatial requirements" so we get shit like the 1921 design now known as Lauria which can go 35kts because it magically weighs 57,000t without sacrifice. Don't even get me started on subs and the like that can go 36kts base underwater (see WG's lack of care about physics) because WG hadn't had enough of whatever alcohol they favour while designing subs in the first place.

      @@Jonathan27172 yeah, the base speed of lauria is extra egregious because with 30s turret traverse and low aa range....there literally is no 2 pt captain skill that you would ever take other than brisk. Proof they sent play their game.

      I have this crazy opinion that armor that is incredibly good when you play smart is better than armor that reduces damage taken when you play stupid. But I know it's an upopular opinion.
