Hi Misty 👋 Glad you tried our areogard to keep the flies away ! My very first musubi we tried was from Musubi Café lyasume and I was expecting it to be pre made from a fridge but no , it was hand made and warm. We were not expecting how good it was ! After watching you try these makes us want to return for another holiday ✈️ Cheers Rod and Gemma 🤙
Hi Rod and Gemma! Thanks so much for the Aerogard. It did work to keep the flies away. Some kept hovering because I think they're just hungry, but at least they didn't land all over the food. The handmade warm musubis are the best! I've never been to Musubi Cafe Iyasume because I'm rarely in Waikiki, but have tried Mana Musubi, which is sorta the same. Have a great week!
Those musubi handrolls looked really good, although hard to eat. Never had a fried musubi before or cream cheese in sushi before. I'll definitely call in an order if I go there. I gotta get me some of that anti-bug roll on. Lol
I've only had cream cheese in those Americanized "Philadelphia" rolls. It works. Kind of creamy just like California rolls. I liked most of the hand rolls, especially the shrimp and the unagi one. 😊
Aloha Misty: It was a “joy” seeing your vlog this evening. I enjoyed seeing the interesting new ways for musubi to be prepared. I can still remember them sold only one-way - plain with a nori wrapping and a pickled plum in the midddle. Those with the shrimp looked really delicious. I guess one of these musubis can be a meal-in-itself. You did a great job on this vlog. I am looking forward to the next vlog. Best wishes and Happy Thanksgiving to you, Aiden and ohana! Best wishes and much 🧧, to a fellow 🐯!
Aloha Bill! I think 2 with a miso soup would make you full and content. Amazing how creative the rice balls can be these days. I also remember the old school musubi with the ume in the middle with nori found in okazuyas. Still can get those though, thankfully. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your ohana and take care! 🤙😊
What a cool place! 15-minute wait isnt’t too painful. Mentaiko musubi looked good, and I’m starting to crave unagi now. Keeping the nori separate is the best!
Hey, Misty. Enjoyed your video on Gohan. Tried them early last week after reading a write-up on Frolic Hawaii. My wife and I were happy with our handrails and the pork miso soup. We were able to score seats on the counter and had a nice chat with the 2 sushi makers making our lunch. We noticed that they used Tsuyahime rice from Yamagata Prefecture which is where my wife's grandmother comes from. Ono grinds on a wet and windy day. Glad to support a local small business. Keep cranking out your videos!
Aloha Milton! So glad you went to try and you guys are so lucky you scored a seat! Interesting that they use the rice from where your wife's grandmother is from. I can definitely tell the rice quality is up there. Mahalo for your kind words and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
That was a nice variety of musubi's ! Awesome Misty love your thoughts on the musubi ! Yes I like the idea of rolling your own nori ! Amazing Musubi Madness !
Hi Misty 👋All the handrolls looked fantastic and super fresh. Could hear the crunch of the nori as you bit into it and the rice was perfectly cooked, individual grains, not soft and mushy. My two faves are the unagi and shrimp tempura. If the hamachi were not cooked, but raw, that would be my 3rd favorite. As always, yr reviews are spot on, detailed, thorough and with added humor...BAM! lol. Wish you and yr family Happy Thanksgiving as well 🦃💕🙏
Hi Minnie! 👋 After looking at it a bit kore the hamachi might very been raw but marinaded in a sauce for a while. It kind of turned into the texture of ceviche? The best I could describe it. Thanks so much for your kind words and glad you get my odd sense of humor. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! 🦃
Salivating! Haven't eaten rice for over a year ... but I'm glad you're enjoying all that goodness! (ahem to that lady ... just like going to the beach and having "someone" plop their towel around 5 feet from you ... idiots .... 😠... hmm...maybe I'll start talking aloud. 🤣)
@@chaka3084 Aw thanks! I don't eat rice for the rest of the week too. Usually only a small amount for the video and I give the rest to my son. This one was rice overload! I usually try to keep it carnivore the rest of the week for good blood work results. 🤙
Hey Misty, musubi oh my! I got hungry watching that especially the unagi! Which is my all time favorite Japanese food hands down. Not cheap anymore. Great video again. Hope to see you tonight hope you didn’t work too hard today! Aloha!
Aloha Misty! It was nice seeing you amd uour son at the UH basketball game last. Too bad UH didn't get the W, but at least it was a competitive game in the first half 🙂. Have great weekend 🤙🏽
Love the sunglasses, I saw some medium traffic reflecting off them.LOLOLOL. We get Jalapeños from somewhere near El Paso (I think its near there) that can have almost no heat and are quite sweet. Well when they are green anyway. They get red and thats a whole different story. Not a fan of cream cheese outside of a bagel. Its a bit too rich. Oh unagi, I love unagi. My japanese gal pal doesn't like it. She doesn't like the small bones. But her dad is like me, loves it too. I have not had unagi in a while. Well Misty, If I don't comment again next week, have a good turkey day. I am doing something different - smoked Chicken (cluck cluck instead of gobble gobble), and home made Texas Chili (No beans and no tomato what so ever, Straight up homemade chili paste base. and it's gonna light a fire under everyone. hahahahah. Blast off to the moon!!! lol
That's cool that you got no heat jalapeños. I bought some JalapeNOS and habanada seeds which have no heat but was unsuccessful growing them. The smoked turkey and chili sounds sooooo good! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your lady and family, Mike!
@@FoodFiend Texas has some weird soil. in the Rio Grande Valley here in Texas they grow oranges, while not looking that great on the outside, that taste very sweet. like a candy orange slice. My (now ex) wife never liked oranges because of how sour they could be. I bought a 5 pound bag of oranges from the valley. She ate them all in 2 days. She could not believe how sweet they are. LOL.

Those hand rolls looked really yummy. I would love to try the fried music.
They were yummy! Maybe you can try them if you're ever in the area.
Thanks, I'm always looking for musubi and I'm lucky enough to have an appointment in that building next week. I will stop in.
Nice! Hope you enjoy the food!

Yes 15 min wait isn't bad at all. If you like unagi then this place makes it great. 🤙

We tried going there last Friday but saw all

@@FoodFiend have fun watching UH getting pounded! 😂
The seaweed should always be on the side to keep the crispness to it.

I always like musubis the hamachi & jalapeño sounds tasty, I would try the fried musubi, pre made one looks good, mahalo 😊

You make me miss Oahu LOL
I’m gonna book a flight for my birthday next year and go try some of these places on your channel LOL🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Oh that sounds like a wonderful birthday gift, and you deserve it! I hope you enjoy all the food from the places you are going to visit. 😊
whats the difference between musubi and onigiri?
They both mean rice balls. I think musubi is just the word most people in Hawaii use.
If you are a mentaiko fan and you have never had mentaiko pasta, you should try it.
@@ldavis3457 oh yes I've had mentaiko pasta and love it.
Fancy kine musubi, and good prices.😁
Yes! I think 2 with miso soup would make most people full. 😊
