When I felt it was time for my children to understand why we have such freedom in this great country I started off with Roys story. Beleve me it got the attention of my children which has absolutly help cultivate some patriotic young teens that unlike there peers understand the sacrifices of great Americans present and past that has given them there freedoms.

The first time I read of his actions in Vietnam, I could hardly believe any man could survive so many wounds. Not only did MSgt Roy Benevidez continue to fight and rescue wounded comrades, he completed the mission. What a warrior spirit he had, as the SEAL motto goes; "Never out of the fight". More than that, a great American patriot as well. His example continues to inspire.

I wish I could be 1/10 of the man Roy Benavidez was. Our freedom was won for us by the blood shed by men such as he was. When I see people willing to vote for socialism just because they foolishly believe that they will get something for free it really hurts me to the core! Nothing is free! The freedom we so easily tend to forget we have here, has been bought and paid for by our wonderful soldiers! God bless our soldiers!

My uncle was in Vietnam 69,70. He died in 94. From complications of A. O. ,, I miss him dearly. He was 82nd airborne, but was assigned to 101st in Vietnam. R.I.P uncle Sp.4 James Larry Sharpe.
