Absolutely awesome to see and hear a vintage Tamiya SRB from the 'golden age' assembled and run stock - even with the original hump-back 7.2v battery! Hearing that acceleration of the MSC is a very nostalgic sound that evokes the running of my Sand Scorcher circa 1983.
Thank you! I appreciate your comment, I couldn’t have put it better myself. I always wanted one backing the day. I had a Rough Rider and my best mate had the Ranger. As soon as I ran it, the nostalgic memories came back more real than just looking at it. I had to have all vintage, it really does feel awesome compared to the modern stuff. I’m actually in the middle of restoring another one, I found an original MK2 with wider arches for sale locally. The guy had it since he was a kid. Came complete with all the original vintage radio gear. It’s had a full strip down, clean & rebuild. The body was in a sorry state so I have sourced a brand new original body set & decals for it. I will be uploading a sand scorcher body paint video in the text few weeks too, the alternative vintage red & yellow scheme.
I look forward to seeing it! Yes, acquiring the vintage early '80s models second hand and used is the only realistic way to get hold of this treasure nowadays given the astronomical NIB prices seen on eBay: I recently saw a NIB Wild Willy (long wheel base) on sale for an eye-watering £3,500. That's the kind of wish-fulfillment only available for Generation X millionaires unfortunately! Having said that, I did pick up a reasonably priced NIB Bigwig that I fully intend to build and run stock (complete with MSC and 8.4 volt battery) as a retirement project.
Awesome! It will be a few weeks before I make any new content, but there’s a few more you can checkout if you like SRB’s, paint videos and other Tamiya stuff. Thanks a lot, the support is much appreciated!
@@jason.bochniak I just got the 2016 re-make Blackfoot and I bought new BKT monster truck tires for it .... I posted it on my community page if you want to see the wheels I got for it. They are bigger then the stock ones

Funny, we couldn’t afford them as kids and it’s the same now! The Bigwig would be great to see, enjoy and good luck with it!
Nice to see it run around.
Thanks. Has a great old school feel. Battery only lasted around 5 mins.
Love it. Looks great running around
Had to take it for a spin, was so good. Just had a set of Brat wheels and tyres delivered so I don’t wreck the vintage ones
So cool! Sounds just like it did 43 years ago..!😎😉
Yes! The sound took me straight back too, and the feel. Nothing like the analogue set up!
@@jason.bochniak So true!
te ha quedado fantastico ENHORABUENA¡¡
Hi Miguel, thank you. I hope you are happy with how your truck came out in the end!

Boy, that looks great running around. A lot lighter then my 1 run. Lol I will get out of hand which is why I am building another.
It was going flat out at first. I blame the old battery lol. New re-re will be great, you could put a tuned motor in it…
Hard to kill an old nicd battery. They almost always come back to life..
It was fine, didn’t last long though. Maybe I need to cycle it a few more times.
