Hi! Firstly amazing effort to play Alaap for this long duration after such a long gap of consistent riyaaz! I have been a student of sitar too since 2 years. One thing I do in my riyaaz is I simply pluck every swar 16 times(8 outward and inward strokes each) at a very slow pace, like with 2 seconds space between every successive stroke, and very lightly and smoothly. This has increased my sensitivity towards every swar in such a way that, now when I play Alaap (I can only play a little bit) I feel every swar with even more depth. Thanks for sharing your experience:)
you probably dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all the new series on Instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my brother during the lockdown :)
Much gratitude for this video. I can hear your love for your family and your teacher and sacred sound. The Naad. Your sound creation is divine. This is how the universe was created. Namaha.
Many thanks! Watching your videos has been really helpful and when I was debating if I should post this practice session I wondered, "What might Rishabh say?"
I wish I had made more progress in that year. Ha! Thanks for giving my channel another visit and if there is specific content you like to watch please let me know.
Thanks or this, Jeff. Well done. I am mourning because I started lessons again recently, and have had to give up because playing sitar this time around triggered an extremely bad (and seemingly permanent) repetitive strain injury.
I’m sorry to hear about your injury. Bummer! Do you play any other instruments? I spoke to someone a while back who had a hand injury and something like the mohan veena was a good substitute instrument. Or, you can always study vocals. Indian classical is so connected to singing that I often think I should study Indian classical singing to improve my overall understanding and musicianship.
I would check out the three stores below. For Old Delhi Music let them know that I (Jeff Starr) gave you the recommendation. I just interviewed their owner for an upcoming video and he's a very cool guy. olddelhimusic.com www.musiciansmallusa.com www.raincitymusic.com
I'm not a famous youtuber like you so i never checked my profile properly, now i saw your comment on my old video while I'm playing raga yaman... So in this way I've discovered you and your channel 😊 I'm still playing and I'm waiting a new sitar from Pune... My guruji arranged it for me 😊... However it will be a pleasure for me to have a chat with you... By email or other social... You are great!!! Peace and love my brother... Love you
please make a video on how to travel with sitar from one place to other!! As in, lets say you have to perforn at some other country then how will you carry it safely?
I wish I had good information about this. I try to avoid traveling with my sitar. I would definitely recommend that you get a solid fiberglass flight case with good padding. That is a definite requirement.
Well, as a student it’s something I am always looking to improve. Can you clarify what you think should change? I am always open to suggestions. Have you been playing a long time?

Great recording! Loved how you adequately explored the Ma Dha Ni expanse in the lower octave before proceeding further.
Cheers!
