بذارید پیش از هر چیز یه عذرخواهی کنیم از تمام مخاطبانی که قرار بود در یوتیوب هفدانگ، اجرای زندهٔ کیهان کلهر رو تماشا کنند. تیم هفدانگ با تمام توان تلاش کرد تا اجرای زنده با کیفیتی پخش بشه؛ اما بعضی از اتفاقات غیرمنتظره باعث شد شرمندهٔ مخاطبانمون در یوتیوب بشیم
و اما خودِ اجرا... اجرایی بود که ما رو شگفت‌زده کرد؛ اجرای کیهان کلهر در زادروز جلیل شهناز، با یاد محمدرضا شجریان. سه‌تارنوازیِ کلهر با شور و حالی همراه بود که مرزهای مجازی رو در هم شکست و انگار همه با هم در فضایی صمیمانه، به صدای موسیقی‌ای گوش دادیم که مرزی نمی‌شناخت

چند شب پیش رفتم خونه دوستم،ایرانی نیست دوستم و دیدم خیلی حالش خرابه و از درون ریخته بهم منم بدون اینکه حرفی بزنم این ویدئو رو گذاشتم براش.بعد از پنج دقیقه دیدم با خانمش تماس گرفت و تصویری با هم کامل نگاه به این اثر بی همتا کردن و بعد از اینکه تمام شد خانمش با یک دسته گل اومد خونه و این دو نفر مثل دوتا بچه که از دلخوری و ناراحتی هیچی نمیدونن دوباره با هم ادامه دادند..
اینجا بود که به واسطه نوازندگی بی بدیل استاد به ایرانی بودنم افتخار کردم. سایه استاد مستدام باد

However, the sound just mesmerised me and it struck me with such an intense that I'm sure that I will dig deeper into the culture and history of the setar. Dear Tero , I am Iranian who is living in Finland for 43 years. I love Finland and Finnish people and although Finnish literacy and knowledge of world is at high level but unfortunately their knowledge about true Iran is very limited. Probably had to do a lot with media and we Iranian who are not true Ambassador of Iran to present Iran and it’s rich literature, music and art culture in Scandinavia and in particular Finland . I sincerely hope , there will a time that you will be able to visit Iran and get to know Iranian culture and in particular music and art as it seems your soul resonate well with this culture . I am British by passport but I have family from all over the world, I am 1/4 Iranian and recently I have been speaking with my bubba a lot about my heritage and the history of Iran, I think the time on my path to get in touch with my ancestry has come about because recently my little sister has found herself a boyfriend who happens to also be Iranian and he moved to the UK recently, he showed me the world of Setar, Tar and Tambour and it has been a blessing to me. I have been learning the Setar now for a few months and it is absolutely such a special instrument. I feel like I have connected to it in a very special way and I cannot wait to see our relationship grow :)
This is such a beautiful piece, a beautiful example of the Setar and the player in harmony with one another...

I can’t seem to get enough of this performance! I have watched it about 20 times and I will probably watch it 20 more. I couldn’t help noticing that there are four “thumbs down” for this video and I can only conclude that the thumbs-downers are either deaf, or disapprove of the artist for ethnic reasons, not musical ones. I am probably the only person here who has actually heard the late tar virtuoso, Jalil Shahnaz, in concert. That was back in 1969 or ’70, years before the revolution. Shahnaz is the musician to whom this performance is dedicated and I think he would have loved this because he listened with his heart.😀

Why go to the trouble of voting down something which is so obviously technically and artistically excellent? Why even click on the link if this genre isn't to their taste? In addition to this, what possibly prevents us from thinking that dislikers didn't actually dislike the performance, but the fact that some intermittent advertisements are shown in the middle of this beautiful performance :)

Whenever I feel depressed or distressed; hands of this great artist extend from between the strings of his simple instrument and put me in track again. ALL MY RESPECT AND LOVE KAYHAN.
I'm persian and a pharmacist working in community setting, towards the end of my shift I put this on, its the quiet time in the pharmacy and every single person walking in asking me about the music. It immediately puts them under its magic and I proudly say its Daii Kayan a persian artist playing an instrument called seh tar. Great conversation opener and make you proud to be Persian. If I ever could come back to my homeland he will be one of the few artists I will be stalking to at least watch them or shake their hands and tell them how they regularly cured my homesickness.
I'm sorry dear. Although, music and art have no borders he definitely is Kurdish. I am not a Kurd myself but I know a little bit about Kurdish and Persian history and how the Kurdish history, culture, songs, language, and artists, etc. have been stolen from the dominant population in Iran or as you say Persia.

Your statement reminds me of a racial comment that was saying to the indigenous people “if it weren’t for us (white-people), you would still be feeding on buffaloes”.
If Nazery, Kamkaran, and Keyhan Kalhor were not in service of Persian music and instead used their talent towards enriching Kurdish music, they would be now executed/exiled or end up in the diaspora.
In Southern Kurdistan, the Kurdish music, culture, and language are flourishing, thanks to three decades of their semi-autonomy region. Of course, you don't know them because their work has been towards enriching Kurdish music.

@@sanramondublin @Frank Nakhai My friend, I suggest you learn about the Kurds from their own historians, not the Iranians and as far as my knowledge goes they are not Irani nor Turkish or Iraqis. Their history has been written by their enemies who purposely have tried to brainwash people for over 9 decades.
Unfortunately, not only the people in these countries but even many of the Kurds themselves believe in these craps. they have been forced to assimilate. Their language, music, culture, and history have been under attack by four countries and for centuries.
There are over 45 million Kurds around the world who have a distinct language and unique and rich music. You can not possibly claim that 45 million Kurds are Iranic.

These are Iranian instruments, not Persian. Persian refers to the Persian ethnicity, Iranian is inclusive for all the different nations living in Iran. Kayhan Kalhor (the performer) , for example, is an ethnic Kurd and not a Persian.

when single notes combine and makes a good unit sense in mind naturally seems good and useful and it shows that singer have worked well and if have a chance to hear good songs
I have been the wonderful beneficiary of a gift of a setar from a person in Iran for whom I care greatly and who wished to bless me with a musical gift. I had no idea of the history and depth of culture related to this instrument. The more I looked the more I found. While at this time, I am only learning very basic tuning and composition, players like Kayhan Kalhor give me levels to reach for that I had no idea the instrument was capable of! What a wonderful talent and artist he is! I read a bit about his early musical life and I now am able to hear the Kurdish influence given to him by his parents. The more you study this music, the more depth you find and the more it draws you in! Through the music, I learn more about the rich history of the region. Deep thanks to Setareh for blessing me with such an instrument that brings so much more than new musical ideas, but influences like Kayhan Kalhor. Beautiful!
افتخار میکنم ایرانی هستم وافتخار دیگر اینکه کرمانشاهی هستم همشهری استاد کلهر
Keyhan was in Europe when his parents home in Tehran was bombed and his mum, dad and older brother lost their lives in, one can assume, a horrific way. But being away, one can assume that every time he picked up his musical instrument it reminded him of his family, whom in his early days encouraged him to practice and praised him for his efforts. Bottom line here, what I am guessing, when he plays, he goes through the pain of that loss, and probably ends up having a conversation with his loved ones through his music. این موسیقی آدم رو می بره به یه سفر دور و دراز. سفری به اعماق درون. انگار بهت یاد آوری میکنه که تو کیستی. انگار همه مسایل دنیوی بی معنی میشه برات و فقط میخوای خودت رو لابلای این نوا جستجو کنی. انگار استاد و ساز یکی شدن و از هر چی که خوب و بده تو این دنیا حکایت می‌کنن. سخت میشه گفت که با شنیدن این موسیقی شاد میشی یا غمگین، ولی انگار بیشتر «خودت» میشی.
What makes this performance unique is that the artist and the instrument seem to be inseparable. They are one soul, telling a story, which you can tell it's the life story of us all.
Everyone try to listen this masterpiece while reading poems of Nizami.
From a guitarist's point of view it's just stunning to see what he does with only the index finger and left hand legatos. The instrument's sound is also very rich given its small size and apparent simplicity.

It doesn't matter what instrument Ostad Kalhor picks up. He's able to express heavenly musicality and soul through his music no matter what. We (Iranians) are very lucky to have such a brilliant individual as part of our culture and history.
