      Hey and thanks for checking it out!
      My head circumference is 23.5 inches or about 59.7 cm.
      I fell toward the top of the M/L size so I decided to be cautious and step up to the L/XL sizing since I sometimes ride with a balaclava in cooler weather and wanted to make sure it wasn't crazy tight in that instance. Hope that helps 😉

    Never bought the Atlas until now. I have a huge head and am normally wearing a skull cap so I’m not sure how a full face should feel. But I think my ears are a little tight and maybe folded. Otherwise, I bought the shockwave Bluetooth thing and I really love it

      Cool! You picked a good version of the helmet to try out a Ruroc. Many of the jaded views on Ruroc are based on the helmets and how they were handled by sponsored reviews and the company.
      You'll have to come by and leave an update on what you think of it after a few miles in the new lid! Thanks for checking out the video 👍

    Is this intermediate oval? Man my head is real big. Measured 61-62cm but still won't even fit the helmet on the head pass my ear.

    • @Skipshift
      @Skipshift  2 роки тому

      These are an intermediate oval helmet shape. They do tend to be tighter going on due to the shell shape pulling in around the bottom for a more secure fit. It would be worth contacting them about additional head measurements and see what they recommend for shell size and padding since the default sizing isn't working for you.
      This is the unfortunate side of them not having easy access to customers trying helmets on before the purchase. Let us know if you're able to get it resolved ✌

    • @Skipshift
      @Skipshift  2 роки тому

      I checked just to verify at that measurement you should fall into the XL/XXL sizing, and I have seen where some guys in that shell size also have problems with pinching their ears going on and off.

    Be careful brother, just lost a good friend from a 55 mph crash on his bike, someone pulled out in front him, he hit them, flew over the car, and when he landed his brand new ruroc 4.0 split straight down the face and up the skull and killed him on impact from the massive failure. I've heard a lot of horror stories about these helmets and just recently had it happen to someone I was close with.

      That's why they don't test their helmets and have no real safety certifications

    From what Ive read, these just arent safe helmets. What a shame, theyre probably the coolest helmets Ive seen. Wish Arai or Shoei would adopt a design like this.

    • @Skipshift
      @Skipshift  Рік тому

      I researched their safety testing when I was making the video and they were ECE safety tested and approved. The safety discussion comes and goes, but nobody has offered any tests that actually show they are not safe that I have seen. I'm definitely open to watching or reading test results if that is the case.
      There is a lot, and I mean a LOT of hate around Ruroc for their business practices. Helmets bought after mine seem to have some quality issues as well. Bad headlines always get more attention than good ones, it's just the way it is.
      All I can do is give my personal experience with the helmet and I have been pleased. I know there there have been more recent purchases than mine where people have had quality issues. That is something Ruroc as a company needs to look into. Maybe their quality control falls off after the first batch gets shipped out. Mine was one of the first several helmets, and one year later I haven't had any problems... yet.

      @@Skipshift It's a large. I just had a thought about the wind noise issues. I have a Nolan n87 and the wind noise is terrible. Seems like it's because there are gaps between the helmet and the visor. You could be having the same issue.

    • @Skipshift
      @Skipshift  2 роки тому

      @@loftyintentions1985 I have since ridden in the Arai with the original shield thinking back to the wind noise and it did cut down the volume quite a bit. It is more in line with the 4.0 Atlas using a non-ProShade shield for wind noise in that trim.
      I'm coming around to the 4.0 Atlas with more miles, and both are pretty fine helmets this time around.

      @@Skipshift Tbh I'm not a fan of Rurok. I've heard some horror stories about build quality and marketing style, although they do seem to have improved a lot with the latest version. Did you buy the helmet(how much)or was it a free to review? The premium price tag of the older versions was also a huge put off, plus the fact that as a UK company you can't actually try one in stores, in the UK. Also what year and size is your gixxer? You might have said in the video but I can't remember. I have a k7 600. Gear position sensor needs replacing and it guzzles petrol but I love it.

    • @Skipshift
      @Skipshift  2 роки тому +1

      @@loftyintentions1985 I absolutely understand. They have a lot of making up to do with a lot of people.
      I purchased both the 2.0 and 4.0 myself, so no paid or free review here. I will say that seeing the improvements is nice, but that original bad blood from workmanship and price tag is hard to get over. The 4.0 was 475 USD, and I cannot remember what the 2.0 was at the time I purchased it.
      It would be nice to see the helmets be stocked stateside and be able to try them on before purchase. Maybe that is something they can work toward in the future now that the helmet is at least on par.
      The Gixxer is a 2012 600, and I love getting it out for a ride! I don't get really great fuel mileage on mine either, but it sure sounds good!😁

    Every single review ive seen so far, the people have been sponsored by Ruroc in some way. Are you? That and their shady review practices are whats keeping me from buying one.

    • @Skipshift
      @Skipshift  2 роки тому +1

      I am not sponsored by Ruroc. It does get hard to pick out the honest reviews from the mix. One thing I've noticed is the sponsored people don't have other brands in their videos, which is part of why I directly compared the Atlas 4.0 to an Arai helmet. This was just my genuine first impressions of the helmet.
      Totally understand your thoughts their sponsored reviews though. I feel the same way.

    No. Spend the extra $10 on a Shoei, Arai or AVG and get much better quality product and customer service. The safety ratings are no where NEAR where they should be as well.
