    what benefits does the white copper add over just regular copper? Does it make it stronger? curious

    • @SilverMeister
      @SilverMeister  4 роки тому +1

      This is a very good, high quality question.
      White copper is a combination of copper and nickel.
      Therefore, there are many advantages of processing.
      Since the melting point (melting temperature) rises, it becomes easier to solder in several stages.
      It is just like a copper alloy to process, but
      The strength is slightly improved after completion,
      It is resistant to discoloration after completion.
      I hope my answer was helpful!

    • @assembly_language3948
      @assembly_language3948 4 роки тому

      @@SilverMeister Yes it was, thank you! I figured it was a strength benefit, I didn't know it also increased melting point of the silver as well. I watch a lot of jewelry videos, and yours was the first I'd ever seen white copper used. Does its use change what you can hallmark the silver as? Does it still count as Sterling (925) or in this case more Britannia (950?)?
      In another life, I would have become a silver or gold smith or jeweler...

    Your work is fantastic. Do you have a clean up process for reclaiming the silver dust? I don't know but I imagine after a while that could become a significant amount of silver lost.

    • @SilverMeister
      @SilverMeister  4 роки тому +1

      Yes. It seems like there is a lot of silver powder loss.
      However, in reality, the loss is only about 1-2% of the total.
      Re-collecting silver powder and recycling it....
      I'll make it a video later and show it.

    What is the purpose of the pickling? Does it prevent tarnishing? BTW, I love your studio (and of course your work)!

    • @SilverMeister
      @SilverMeister  4 роки тому

      The purpose of pickling is,
      After soldering, the remaining impurities are removed.
      It is to clean the remaining waste components on the silver surface.
      It is very important to keep working in a clean condition.
      In general, other people often do not pickle well.

    How long did it take to produce this stand? Also I guess that when handling sulfuric acid a breathing mask is needed, considering this material is very dangerous?

      It takes 1 to 20 days to make the stand.
      It has been around 30 years since sulfuric acid has been used.

      There is enough experience to use it safely.

      The proportion of this "백동(白銅)" is 5%.

      I know it is alloyed with 70% copper + 20% nickel + 10% zinc.
